So glad you posted the deal I sent you! 🙂

I never have anything but hassles when I try to use both coupons on 1 item. The cash register rejects it.

    • Sara C

Or the cashier rejects them…even though the policy clearly states you are allowed. My local DG ALWAYS gives me a hard time with my coupons. I’ve even emailed corporate and never received a response. Some deals are not worth the headache to me!

      • Linda

I had the same problems at this store until I found an informed cashier at the 4th DG store I went to get the ALL from the last deal. In order for these 2 coupons to work the cashier must first scan the DG coupon and then the other. If the manf. coupon is scanned first, the register will not allow the DG coupon to scan without beeping.

These are great deals… But I have to agree with the previous poster that Dollar General is not very friendly with couponers, especially when trying to stack manufacturer and DG coupons. The cashiers whom I have encountered have been less than friendly, in fact, accusatory that I’m trying to “pull one over” on them.

Hello there-Beth and I are ctplleoemy confused as to how we are being rude!? If you have a great deal to share, please tell us! We have a comment section for that purpose. Thanks

  4. Gina

But they won’t accept a coupon off of a free item – you can use both for the Jet Dry but not the Finish Powerball :/ Still a good deal though! 🙂

    • Rachel

Gina, the FREE coupon is a Dollar General coupon. Since it’s their own store coupon they have to take it 🙂

  5. kit

there’s also a printable Q on the DG site for 50% off all Home Décor, Housewares, and more 🙂

  6. Suzanne

I don’t know about other people but my DG will not accept a coupon on a free item.

  7. kit

oops…i just noticed you posted the 50% Q yesterday…sorry! i haven’t been online as much lately.

    • Kim R

Glad you re-posted this. Tried to get it yesterday, but it disappeared! Thanks.

  8. obsessedwithcoupons

Has anyone actually done this? I just don’t see them taking the manufacturer coupon on the Powerball.

Thanks!! Great Deal. And I will say that there’s at least one good DG out there. I live in PA, and while most of the store’s cashier’s don’t understand coupons, they just call the manager to help them through it. The manager is always nice and polite and knows their own coupon policy.

I would have to say I agree with others when they say Dollar General is not coupon friendly. Last time I used a DG coupon and stacked it with a Mfg coupon, the cashier said it wouldn’t take both of them and she started to give me just one of them. I asked for a manager and she said “I AM THE MANAGER!”. I told her I would have to do more research and call the 800 number. Well, all of a sudden she tells me she is going to void it and try it where she uses the DG coupon first and then the Mfg coupon… and… guess what…. it worked. Until I said I was calling the 800 number she was not going to do it the correct way. She is the manager… she knew all along and tried to cheat me. Now, I will say that the last time I called the 800 number they were very nice and proceeded to correct the problem. After reading all the notes above, I’m almost ready to try it again and prepare myself for having a problem. Good Luck to All.

I agree. Dollar General in ARkansas doesn’t allow you to use two coupons on one product. I have tried. You can’t even use the $5 off a $25 purchase if you use coupons here. You have to buy extra (the amount of the coupons so that you can hit the $25 amount after coupons are taken off) to have $25 after coupons.

    • Sarah

Where in AR have you tried? I haven’t tried to use coupons at Dollar General yet even though I have been couponing for going on 3 years now and there are 4 Dollar General’s within 15 miles of my house (and I don’t live in a big city!!) Thanks for the info!

I printed the coupons out last night and stopped at the Nashville 5th Avenue DG store. The cashier would not take the DG coupons because they wouldn’t scan. Anyone else run into this? I started at this location knowing that they would have stock but I guess I will have to venture out to the more friendly stores near my home.

    • Sarah

If the DG coupon doesn’t scan, there’s directions right on the bottom right of the coupon saying: “Cashier Instructions: If coupon does not scan”…. then proceeds to give the cashier numbered steps on how to manually do it. Hope that might help someone. Unfortunetly you have to go in to DG totally prepared and armed with 100% know how or they will trun you down. (Shouldn’t have to be that way.)

      • Kay U.

Thanks Sarah! The cashier radioed her manager who said “if it doesn’t scan, we don’t take it”. Unfortunately it was early and I didn’t read the details due to the line developing behind me. I will be better off going to a different location as this one is so busy.

        • md

They have to use a hand scanner sometimes when it doesn’t go through the counter one.. It sounds silly! But alot of the times when my coupons won’t go through the Manager uses the hand scanner. Sometimes when the manager is not in I tell the girls to use the hand scanner and it works…

  13. Hollis

I purchased these two items at my DG (Indiana) without any problems. The DG coupon for free item must be imput by hand and then the other coupons scanned without a beep. And she was very nice! Bonus!!!

  14. Beth

I did this in Kentucky and they took all my coupons! Be sure to check your powerball tab box, mine had 2 more coupons!

  15. md

I did have trouble at first with my Dollar General but I kept insisting until the Manager finally gave in… Now I go in and use The DG’s and manufactures.. One thing I will tell you is I don’t buy in large quanitities or stock up on good sales.. That is the one problem the manager indicating they were having and had stop taking coupons.. So I respectfully agree to share the sales and coupons with everyone else… I buy an item or two each and quitely go away… Although I will tell you that their snuggles freshener is always on sale for 3.00… If you have a coupon you can snag up a good deal..
