I was told by the manger that you can’t get free items at Dollar General.
I used to work there… and we were not allowed to accept coupons that would make an item free.
I’ve called and talk to corporate office about this and your allowed too but your not allowed to use coupons for free items. I called twice and talked to two different people and they told the same thing.
you aren’t getting them for free if you have to pay tax right? I have purchased items many times that rang up 0 dollars or pennies. and the cashiers said nothing. am I breaking policy without knowing as their machines scan the ones that have the oldschool barcode just fine (this new barcode coupon will not work and will have to be hand typedin)
No you are not actually there is nothing in the coupon policy that indicates you aren’t suppose to use a coupon that would make an item free… If you are using a manufactures coupon the Dollar Store gets paid or for that fact any store so in essence they are not giving free items. You are not stealing you are simply using a coupon from a manufactures.. IF for some reason they have a problem with the coupon I would go as far as calling the manfacture and stating this store # at this location has a problem with your coupon. I have done that before. Just to state my ground on how some stores are not coupon friendly. But you are not illegally doing something irrantional. There are just some stores that rather not know about it or handle it. They are Ok living in the 50’s even though it is the new mil.
I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET SEVERAL ITEMS FREE VIA COUPONS AT THE DOLLAR GENERAL HERE IN EAST TENNESSEE.
So have I…just last week I got the free Hershey’s bars and KISS nail art!

In my experience, they get the difference between a “free coupon” which the store doesn’t take and a coupon that’s equal to the cost of the item that will make it free. It’s not properly explained to the employees which makes it so frustrating!

I currently work at Dollar General. There is nothing in the policy that says that you can’t use a $1.00 off coupon on any item that is priced $1.00! I do it all of the time and nothing is ever said about it. The store gets their money back along with a 8c handling fee. Go to the Dollar General website and view the coupon policy for yourself. The only free coupons are not allowed to be taken at DG, but if the coupon requires you to make a purchase to get the item free then those coupons are accepted…especially the coupons for the Brilliant Tampons.

Dollar General takes coupons I use coupons there often but I always have to deal with being treated like a criminal when I hand the cashier a coupon. I have called corporate more than once about being told I can’t use a certain coupon and they always say yes the cashier should have took your coupon. In reality they should take a coupon that is for the same amount as the sale price of an item if you have problems call the corporate office and complain. I was told today that I wasnt able to use two coupons when buying two like items because it says one per a purchase I tried to tell them that it just means one per an item not purchase but the cashier wouldnt listen.
I wrote corporate yesterday because a manger called the police on me my finance saying we threatened him, when all we did was try to explain how he was wrong about the coupon i was trying to use, but he wouldn’t listen so my finance got upset and said we would just go to another store and use them. I guess that is threnting but not to him in any way.
I’ve gotten tons of items for free from dollar general using coupons. They have a really large sign (about 4 x 3) that says “We happily accept coupons!”.
This is an awesome prce for these. Maybe it’s for a larger box, but at CVS these are around $6.99!
The Dollar General coupon policy says nothing about about not accecpting coupon that would make an item free upon use. It only address coupon for free items, saying they will accept coupon for free iems when a required purchase is met. (Like B1G1)

Certainly you can use coupons! They’ll even accept one manufacturer’s coupon and one Dollar General coupon on 1 item!
I use my coupons all the time to get free stuff at our 3 local dollar generals… they are not always happy about it but do take my coupons anyways.
I tried to use this coupon Saturday and it scanned item not found and the manager would not accept it. Just an fyi for everyone.

They are normally either $5.99 or $6.99 at CVS…I’ve used them & haven’t had any problems!!
THey are Ok and some of their products are good. I have nothing to complaint about.
If you have any of these at home already, check your boxes. I’ve found coupons inside in the past.

i’ve gotten deodorant from there for free before. Of course, they made a big deal about it, but if you have the coupon policy in hand, it’s usually not a big deal.
i had issues w these when i tried them as samples. got irritation but i am one of those “sensitive” people, can’t use anything with fragrance, etc. just wanted to share.
just an FYI though I got some of these boxes last week and the coupons would not scan!! Luckily the manager was really nice and allowed us to use the coupons but, you may have issues with this coupon.
I have a completely different reaction at ours. We have a horribly rude, shelf clearer in our area. So my niceness wins me way big points. I always leave a few coupons behind so others (the cashiers) can grab a good deal too.
I recently had a FABULOUS experience with my cashier(mgr.) @ DG here in the Atlanta ‘burbs.
He went out of his way to make my deal work when I was trying to buy all those Olay BWash a few weeks ago. The Q’s wouldn’t scan but he figured a way to make it work for me so I could get my 8 bottles. I later wrote Corp. & told them what wonderful customer service I’d received.

I just did this deal at two different dollar generals. The first store I had 5 print off coupons and they acted like they did not want to take them b/c they all had the same bar code number lol. They did take them eventually though (had my policy) I then went to a different store and used the coupons that came in the box, they scanned perfect and the cashier gave me no problems what so ever. In all I got 15 boxes and only paid tax, donating 10 of them to our local womens shelter.
FYI~these were on the bottom shelf of the DOLLAR ITEMS aisle, not with the other pads and tampons.
Got one – took twenty min. They refused to use more than one of my coupons as the pdf coupons had all the same number. i would love to get a few more boxes of these – but I’m not liking how I am treated there. Really tired of being treated like a coupon criminal every time I shop there……….
I also have been told they will not accept coupons if it would make the item free. As far as corporate goes, I emailed them because of poor customer service when I was using a coupon and had no follow-up from them. I think at some of my local stores, they simply do not want to bother if it takes any extra effort. And heaven forbid trying to explain anything….
I had two pdf coupons and three that I got from the company. I was able to purchase 5 boxes, and a dollar general reusable shopping bag for a grand total of $1.15. The cashier and manager were super sweet. I went in today and they had just restocked the shelves as last week someone had already found the deal. They probably had 40 boxes left, so it is worth calling and asking. I live in Northwestern GA.
Oh! I forgot to mention that the coupons would not scan, but when the manager typed in the code manually, it worked fine!
I have the worst newest manager at the Dollar General.. Since then I rarely come in. However, when I go I always ask him to pull up his coupon policy.. He is always telling me I can’t stack coupons and I tell him Yes I can I can use your Dollar General coupon and a manufactures look at your coupon policy.. He will relunctantely do it as he chants to me Ok Im not suppose to be doing this.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR…
Anyways it doesn’t stop me from scoring really good deals when I must do it there.. But in lieu of that if I can get the same deal ANYWHERE else I rather go somewhere else .. 🙂
Ok Ladies so in case you all read this post.. Including my fav. person in the whole wide world Collin 🙂 , THere is a coupon or should be on the dollar general website for 1.00 off a pledge spray or shout. This goes great with the manufactures coupon of 1.50 off two pledge. At my store they run 2.32 each can at dollar general, However , I seen them run for 3.00.. In any case prin 2/ 1.00 dollar general pledge or shout expires on 4/30.. Then use your 1.50 r the 2.00 pledge coupon for two found on the newspaper, Better Homes and Gardens, Parenting Magazine and also coupons.com. I did this it is total of $4.60 minus 2/1.00 coupons from Dollar General minus the 1.50= 1.14 that you pay out of pocket 🙂 LOVE THOSE DEALS
In the Dollar General site i went on those coupons are manufacturer coupons not Dollar Deneral coupons. They have to have the Dollar General logo on them. The ones i see dont they say manufacturer coupon.
i tried this deal this morning i had only 2 coupons they wouldnt scan so the cashier just typed it in herself and it worked so i will be going back later to use the ones that came in the box. thank you collin

Since some people said that the coupon on the Rephresh site wouldnt scan i decided to look if my Dollar General had them for a dollar and just buy them without the coup. And yes they did have them for one dollar. so i bought 4, Inside those 4 boxes was coupons for a few Rephresh feminine items including the box of tampons and the coupon is for $1 off any so i’m going back to get 4 for free and on and on. The coupon doesnt expire till 2015. So as long as they have them in stock its free whenever i get them 😀

Hi, Lakeshia, I work at DG as an assistant manager. The last time that I seen the RepHresh tampons was back in August of 2012. The RepHresh company that makes these tampons pulled their item from our shelves, so we aren’t able to stock their tampons any longer. I think that it had to do with a lot of people getting the item free, even though, that was not our fault nor the consumers. I personally think that the RepHresh company didn’t want their products to be given away…oh well, their loss! Good luck getting a better deal with a better company!
