I did this deal about a month ago (only had $1 coupons though). Make sure you notice that the Wisk is 29 loads/45 oz. and not 32 loads/50 oz. Just an FYI. It is a better deal with the $2 coupons, but not so sure I’d do it again with just the $1 Qs.

  2. Renee

If you have a Cub Foods in your area they have a better deal this week- the 50oz is on sale for $3.99.

$5 off $25 coupon is before o after other coupons????

    • jane

I have the same question too??? I would like to do this deal cause am low on detergent

      • Alissa

To use the $5 off $25, your total has to be $25 before any coupons.

    • Rachael

ymmv. I have 2 DG and one will use the $5/$25 before Qs and the other will do it after so obviously you know which one I will be heading to.

    • Pat

The $5 is after the coupons. They get paid for the coupons but they make you purchase more than people that don’t use coupons and I don’t think that is fair so I don’t shop at dollar general anymore. I have always had problems using coupons there and it is worse when you use the $5 off $25 purchase. Once they told me I couldn’t get $5 off because I used coupons.

My Husband is a store manager of a Dollar General- he actually says the “best way” to do it is to hand over your $5 off $25 coupon BEFORE you scan any of your items- he says it’s WORST to wait till last….when you scan that coupon first, it will automatically deduct from the total when your order hits $25….

        hope this helps

          Thank You

          • Pat

I tried to tell the manager that but she wouldn’t believe me. She just said to call corporate and they needed to fix what they tell the managers. I’ll hid my coupons and use the $5 and then remember the coupons and see what happens.

            • Roger

Anybody got the number to corporate, toll free, preferably? The website only has an email, and they’ve yet to respond after 3 weeks.

              • Pat

I never found a number but they never answered my email either and it has been over 6 months so don’t hold your breath. I even left a response on their facebook page but never got one from that one either.

My 2$/1 says for 1 bottle of whisk 100oz or larger.

    • Janie

Mine doesn’t. I am looking at the coupon right now.

  5. Kris Snyder

    Does DG allow stacking?

  6. Bobby

The $2 off Wisk coupon was in the Sunday paper a few weeks ago & its good on the 45oz. The $1 Wisk coupon from coupon.com will also work but there is also a Wisk $2 off for the 100oz ….3 different Wisk coupons out….

  7. Kathryn

Has anyone tried using the $5/$25 coupon with other coupons? Because I heard after your manufacturer coupons, your total had to be over $25 to use the DG store coupon

    • Sarah

I’ve used the $5/$25 coupon several times over several months span at my store and it’s always before Manuf. coupons. Just make sure the $5/$25 store coupon is scanned first after you get your items rang up ($25 or more), than use as many manf. coupons as you want after that. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. aj

What is the limit on number of coupons they take for one item? Didnt see it in policy. I have several wisk coupons.

    • Julie

      aj

one coupon per item…if you have the 5 off 25 coupon give that to them first. Then if you buy 4 detergents give those coupons second. you can stack a DG coupon with a MFG coupon.

  9. Mary

On the DG 5/25 I printed it gives specific instructions on how the cashiers are to ring up this coupon. It says to #1 ring the 5/25 coupon and #3 is to apply all mq coupons. If the cashiers give you a problem have them read the coupon.

      Thank you Mary!

My comment didn’t show up but here’s what I can add to this discussion:

My husband runs a DG store. He says it’s best to hand over the $5/$25 coupon FIRST before scanning any items- then once your total reaches $25 it will auto-deduct. Then you hand over your coupons.

Also, DG has not had the software update for the new type of barcodes on coupons, so they have to input them manually- which I’m sure some managers give people a hard time over-

Also because of their antiquated POS system, when you try to use more than one of the same DG coupon (like when I tried to use 6 of the DG $1/1 Scrubbing Bubbles coupons: I bought 6 cans @$2.50 each and had (3)$2/2 mfr coupons and (6)$1/1 DG coupons which should’ve made them $0.50 a piece) it will NOT work- for some reason their computer system attaches that coupon to every item applicable, but only takes the discount off of one. So when they try to scan another it will tell them “item not sold” or something like that because it thinks you’ve already received a discount- the way my hubs had his employee work around it was to do a price override on the remaining Scrubbing Bubbles I got and put them at $1.50 each. Problem with this though was it then prevented me from using my mfr coupons of $2/2- since they can’t put in a coupon worth MORE than the item, and their registers have no way to detect that the coupon says OFF TWO- and they can’t just “pretend” and input manually $1/1 because it then throws their numbers off- it would say they have 6 $1/1 coupons instead of 3 $2/2 coupons, so their accounting would be affected…sorry if that doesn’t make sense…Some managers have figured out ways around this though- and you cannot combine any DG coupon offers with another offer- so you can’t use the $5/25 coupon WITH other DG coupons- stacking with mfr coupons is ok per their policy.
Hope this helps- I’ve found I shop their less because of the problems with their registers but DG is working to try and attract couponers, so if you encounter a problem you can just show them their weekly ad, which all point out what a product will cost when you use a coupon from the Sunday paper.

I went to two different Dollar General’s in my area and they were all sold out of Wisk, so I went to Walmart and price matched it. However, while I was at Dollar General I noticed in their clearance section that they had Colgate Total Advanced 5.8 oz on sale for $2.00 and I had several $1 off coupons for that so I was able to score 7 so you might wanna check out their clearance section before leaving.

    • LoriSaves

You PAY for toothpaste?!?!? lol I NEVER pay for it anymore- always aim to get it free or the most I’ll pay is .25 each!

      • Kris Snyder

        Amen!

        • Pat

I haven’t paid for toothpaste in years (except for my brother as he will only use the one for sensative teeth) either.

I got $26 worth of goods for $7 at the DG on Saturday! I used the $5 off $25 DG coupon, 2 free Oxydols with the $1 qโ€™s, 7 free boxes of tampons ($1 per box less $1 q), 4 Wisk ($4 less $2 q) and a diet cola for hubby. I think itโ€™s my best score yet! I love the Dollar General Store. Does anyone know if there is a blog just for DG?

  13. ~Vicky~

I just went to DG. As written on the coupon, Have the cashier scan the DG $5/$25 before doing anything else. Then she scans all the items, Hits total then adds in all the Q’s. (It takes the $5 off as cents off each item, but adds up to $5 for sure i did the math) Hope this helps ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Pat

Thank you so much for your help. I’ll try one more time to use coupons at DG. If it won’t work then I’m through with them.
