you can use a previous gift card to pay for a purchase that yields a gift card, yes. and you can do multiple purchases that yield gift cards at once, too. not sure who told you no, but it usually helps to politely ask for a manager.
You can’t use the earned $5 giftcard to pay for that transaction, but you can earn multiple gift cards in one transaction and you can use gift cards to pay.
Last time I tried to earn multiple gift cards in one transaction their register only allowed me one. If I’d done two transactions I’d have gotten two, so it may be different in the different stores. And they told me I had to use the earned gift card in a different transaction not the one it was earned from.
Target should pay Collin, if every one is going to target you think we all will only buy that Nivea? I always ended up buy much more stuff.

You can 🙂 I did it twice. You cannot use a giftcard you earned in the transaction to pay for the SAME transaction. However, you can split it into 2 and pay for the 2nd transaction with the giftcard you earned in the first.

did it prompt for the gc when you got the tins are did you have to have them see the sign and give you the gc?
the register told the cashier that the purchase should yield a gift card but it never prompted her to give me one. she went at looked at the signage and gave it to me anyway. the wording is pretty confusing!

Thats exactly what happened to me. The register said that it should give one but never gave the cashier the opportunity to scan one for me. They ended up just taking that amount off of my total 🙂
i went to a store in the morning and brought 3 nivea tins and they refused to give a gift card. i agrued with them and i received the $5 gift card but they told me it is a mistake and they pull the sign right away.
In Washington, I bought six tins in two different transactions, and the checker was confused so she sent me to the Customer Service Center. The manager said that yes their system should produce a GC since that is what their advertisement states in the lotion section. Even though it is different then what their system allows… They ended up giving me four $3 instore coupons to make up for the $10.00 and $2 for the inconvience I had…
It did not produce $5gc and I said something he looks see it is there but had to go ask, came back and was told I only could get one gc, so I told him to put the others back. They had to just take $5 off my purchase at the bottom. The tag said $5gc with purchase of 3 like in picture above. I might go back and get the tins and lip balm but today the lip balm was oos.
I so hope some are there tomorrow when I go. This would make for some great gifts that are coming up…..please oh please be there.

Just came home from Target and purchased the 2 tins and 1 lotion as Collin suggested and it worked for the $5 gc. There wasn’t a sign above the tins but the register prompted for the gc. Also had a coupon from T for a free Edys small ice cream and left with a coupon for $3 of $20 beauty purchase of cosmetics hair care or skin care. Score!

You can always “roll” giftcards at Target. They aren’t like Walgreen’s RRs. They are just plain giftcards you can load with more money if you want, so you use them exactly like cash irregardless of what deal you are doing.

I just got the deal at Target, but watch the register if you use the Target Coupon from the Spring Beauty Bag… it’s for $1/1 Nivea.. but it only came up as 70cents off instead of $1. If you don’t watch you can’t correct it and you will end up paying some change out of pocket! (My papers didn’t get the $2/1 RP coupon)
Also, the creme tins have a sign under them saying you get a $5 giftcard if you buy them as well, so I bought the 13.5 lotion and 2 tins…and the register did prompt her to give me the giftcard 🙂
I just got the Nivea tin deal today, it was great!!! Also, they had Revlon Mineral Makeup on clearance for $3.58. With the $2/1 coupon, it was only $1.58! These are originally priced at $11.99 so I was really excited to get it for $1.58!!!

I was told from clerk and guest services that the Nivea cream does not qualify for the $5.00 GC..I said I ahave 3 Niveas. She explained sorry no doesn’t qualify . They also didn’t let me use the $2.00 Degree on travel size deodorant

i have called them before they route all calls to India and they tell you that each store manger is in charge of the store and there is nothing they can do. I am in FL and had the same problem they gave me 1 $3.00 coupon that does not equal the 20.00 in giftcards i would have gotten. Hope you have better luck than i did.
This is why I have demanded when talking to someone in India or the Phillipines to speak to someone at the home office in Minnesota. As for “nothing they can do”, I have news for Target: The LAW in ALL STATES mandate that they must honor their advertisement. If they advertise a policy, then they are to follow it. It is NOT up to a local manager to decide if they will honor their policy or not. The reason you are spending your TIME and MONEY to go to their store is because of what they ADVERTISED.
Once I mention to them that I have no problem (not an issue, a problem) going downtown and filing a small claims law suit and if they think I am bluffing just give me a try, it is very surprising to see how quickly they will resolve the problem with me.
Well I got a hold of corporate she explained only firming lotion is available for $5.00 GC.. I tried stating my case. She just said holing flyer in my hand and only firming lotion. So good luck to the ones who can use the Nivea tins..
I took a picture of the sign above the tins at the store before I left Target. I had the manager on duty yesterday actually stomp over to the shelf and take the paper sign down and bring it back to the register and crumple it up in my face telling me it didnt exist! I couldnt understand all 3 of the people that i was sent to at the cooporate line, and the store manager hung up on me.
I just came from Target & did this deal. However, a staff put down the sign on the tins right after I placed them on my cart. I heard someone on the radio instructing him to do so .Although I was hesitant to do the deal, I tried with 1 transaction first. I can always have it voided if it didn’t give a GC. But it actually did so i did another.T o those planning to do this deal, go now while they have not changed it in their system.

I had success on this deal, and I plan on going back because the Eucerin company sent me three $3.00 off coupons off any one any sized product and then I have a target coupon for $2.00 off any Eucerin product. So pretty much I’ll be getting my three items For $1.00 with tax. My sister & I did this today & it was a hassle–but it all worked out. The .87 Nivea did not prompt a GC what the signage stated it would. The cashier/mgr were great & gave me the GC’s at the end 🙂 GREAT deal & I LOVE this stuff!
If you are getting more than 1 GC per transaction you must watch the order the cashier scans them. I.E. if she scans all the tins at once (mine did them all at the end) it will not prompt for a GC.
That’s what happened to me! I was doing the deal 3 times because Customer Service told me it could be done in one single transaction. The cashier scanned them all in different order and I got only 2 gc’s. When I told the cashier that the order was important and that I wanted to do it again, she simply said “never mind” and did it manually! 🙂
Also, I didnt know that you could go back to CS with your receipt from a previous purchase for a price adjustment if you had forgotten to give the cashier a coupon! 🙂

i did 2 tins and 1 lotion, just as stated but i did it per transaction and rolled the gc into another transaction. the checker was like “is this legal??? am i supposed to do this? should i call my supervisor because i don’t want to get in trouble. ” I said sure go ahead and call em, but it is perfectly legal and very common. I said in couponing we call it rolling” because i was nice and he didn’t call, but i didn’t care if he did, there’s no rule saying you can’t buy more than one lotion and use a gift card. This isn’t 1941, we’re not rationing. lol
My local Target said it was a limit of 2 “rolling”per person, so I went to 3 diff Targets. They are all in the same general area, so it was no big deal. So for 18.20 I got 12 cream tins, 2 lip balms (my bf loves them), 6 bottles of lotion and all of ny Targets had the 4 1 Olay beauty bars on clearance for 3 bucks so at each store I got one pack from each store! I plan on going back later in the week and getting some eurcin (is it spelled right) for my nephew. His skin is really bad and this really helps out with the itching.
At my Walgreens, there was only the Dickinson’s Witch HAzel with the yellow label, I couldn’t find the one that was pictured in the ad? Would the RR also work on the yellow label one or is it a different product? Thk!

OT, but has anyone submitted for the P&G REBATE from the 4/29 target deals? I have a question about how to write the amount on the form. My target receipt shows both the original price and price adjusted after the coupon. Am I allowed to write in the original price on the rebate form?

I need some opinions from fellow couponers…
I just got back from Target after attempting the Nivea deal. I bought a 13.5 oz lotion and 2 nivea tins. I wanted to use the $2 off manufacturer coupon as well as the $1 target coupon which should be completely fine because it’s stacking coupons. well the lady checking me out refused to let me use the target coupon too, stating that “Target coupons cannot be used on a promotion deal.” I was trying to explain to her why it should be fine and how I’ve done the same for other promotions. Then she interrupted me and began yelling at me for about 5 minutes, she was just so rude. She basically told me that she would know better than I would because “She’s only been working there forever.” I didn’t want to deal with her or a manager so I just told her it wasn’t worth it. Then, on top of that, I was buying a revlon beauty tool, and I had a $2 off target coupon and a catalina from a previous purchase that clearly said “Manufacturer Coupon” at the top. She wouldn’t let me use it because she claimed it was considered a Target coupon because it had a little symbol that said “Redeemable at Target (symbol)” Just because it says that, doesn’t mean it’s not a manufacturer coupon, right? She said “It’s a coupon that cannot be used anywhere else, therefore it’s a store coupon.” This makes no sense to me, if it was a target coupon, then it would not say Manufactuer Coupon at the top! Any thoughts on this issue? I’m only 16 and I’m still learning, but I’m pretty sure I’m right. And normally I wouldn’t go calling corporate to complain or anything like that, but I don’t think she had any right to yell at me the way she did and make me cry. So I’m considering it. What do you all think? Thanks 🙂

I had a similar issue @ CVS this morn after church.
I was doing the Polident deal & also grabbed the Mitchum de-I had both the new $1 man Q & CSO $1 Q to stack. Well this arrogant cashier, Sharon, told me I couldnt use the man Q because it had “available at WM” on the left side.
Needless to say, Ill be on the ph with Corp 1st thing Mon morn.
Heres the kicker…Id stopped.@ another CVS earlier a few miles away & had absolutely no prob buying the same deo there!
Wowza. I bet she yelled because she thought she could get away with it due to you being younger. Sure wish you’d have asked for a manager though, because that was completely unacceptable. That redeemable thing only means that it CAN be redeemed at target, not that it must be redeemed there.
Natalie I deal with the same thing in my target. Did you get the cashiers name? It doesn’t matter how long she has been working there, there’s no excuse in treating a customer like that. If I was behind you in line I would have called a manager and had her apoligize to you. There’s no excuse for treating anyone badly and I’m sorry she made you cry. If you didn’t get her name go back and get her name and go to a manager! If the manager doesn’t help you call corporate with both of their names. There is never an excuse for bad manners. Keep saving it sounds like your a very smart and caring person 🙂

Thank you so much for backing me up 🙂 It’s funny, because the cashier actually called over her “supervisor” (not sure if that’s the same as a manager) and she backed up the cashier and treated me like trash too. So sad that these employees don’t know their own rules. I wish I had gotten the cashier’s name…
Target prints out coupons/catalinas and some of them say “Target Coupon” on the top and some say “Manufacturers Coupon” They should allow a target coupon and a manufacturers on one item, according to their policy. But they are also allowed to change the amt of the coupons if they exceed the price of the item. My targets are getting picky on their policy…managers telling cashiers they cannot take the coupons if they exceed the value of the item (picking a Revlon tool that is less than the $2 or less than $3 if you are using the $2 target and $1 catalina). “You can’t get this for free! We just can’t let you do that?” So, i then waited until the manager came to the CS desk and she reluctantly said yes, after seeing it was Target coupons from their website and catalinas. I was so mad I showed them their coupon policy from my phone and he didn’t budge until the manager OKed it. If you are right, just be patient and stand your ground! You may waste a lot of time though! Uh, If I had been yelled at, I’d call Target Corp for sure!
YOU the customer are the reason that cashier has a job so she has absolutely no right to yell at you, make you feel inferior, or make you cry!!!! Please call corporate and tell them how that cashier (and her “supervisor”) treated you because she needs to get her act together/be re-trained or be FIRED!!!! I would NEVER let anyone get away with treating me like that!!!
I had this problem before. With the $1 glade target cpn. The register adjusts down a target cpn if the cpn is greater. So, in order for you to get a $GC your purchase would tech have to be higher than $5. …i think…It all depends on your cashier. I always go to the same cashiers. Go to the young guys. Easier….most of the time.
Natalie, I am so sorry this happened to you. My niece is also 16 and if someone treats her like that I would be cracking some skulls! I strongly suggest you get her name and the “supervisor’s” name, you dont even have to ask them, just next time you are there look at their name batches. Then call AND write to Corporate. You were 100% right but even if you didnt, she should have NEVER treated you like that.

You can use other target coupons, just be sure to give them the $3 off $20 first.
Soo excited!! I purchased 9 of the tins (priced @ $0.78) and 1 Extended Moisture body creme 6.8oz ($3.59). I was anticipating just 2 gift cards because of the whole under “Total Purchase” price, which was $10.61 b4 tax. The register prompted the cashier for only 1 gift card. But I had asked him if my transaction qualified for at least 2 gift cards, because after all, I was getting more than the minimum required for the promotion. I also mentioned, I was “technically” owed 3 gift cards because I had 10 items. Well, he called the manager over to help him out. So she gave him step by step instructions to ring up the other 2 gift cards for $5 each, then have him do an adjustment with an “in-store coupon” and enter $5 for the discount. Hence, I paid 9.56 OOP (b4 tax, used $1/1 target beauty bag q + reusable bag discount $0.05). It was a MM for me 😀 BTW, I’m in SoCAL (LA county).
I am getting so nervous, this is only a deal if my husband picks it up on the way from work. If I have to use gas and drive, than it is not a deal. I have the nivea mens lotion coupon that is from rite aide but has manufacture coupon on it. I need my hubby to do two transactions and roll the gift card in the next one. I have to keep going over it until his goes on Tuesday. This is the same man that told me that stop and shop was out of ice cream.

As of 3 today target was no longer allowing the tins to be included. when i got there the sign was up but by the time i got to the register about 30 minutes later they were no longer allowing the tins as part of the gift card. When i asked to see the manger a kid comes over and tells me there is nothing he can do. I explained the sign was up when i picked up the items he said yeah show me the sign i told him one of the employes took it down he said oh well show me the sign. If anyone has info on a number other than 1-800-440-0680 to make a complaint please let me know. i have had issues with target and calling this number is no help. I asked for the district managers number but they refused to give it to me.
My bro works for target & he dislikes that I coupon but he tells me all the time to call and write a “how are we doing” (you can find them at CS) I ask him 21 questions so I know I’m doing the right thing.. fyi always ask for the real Manager.. cuz there are some non managers that deal with front lines ..

Fyi store mangers have to be in the store and to say that the’re the manger can get them in trouble..customer service can give you the number to corporate ..
I went to my Target and got two tins (moisturizing creme) and one lotion-I had $2 off mq and $1 off Nivea from the Beauty Bag (which was wonderful by the way!!!) Now this is what I call FUN!! $2 money maker. I will keep the tins and give away the lotion tomorrow at work-I love this stuff! Thank you Collin-couponing it keeps on giving! And yes…while I was there I bought other items! Win-Win.
I stopped by Target tonight for 2 tins and 1 lotion, but the sign for the tins was GONE. I didn’t bother trying just in case it didn’t work out, but DARN IT, i really wanted it!!!

@Natalie It is COMPLETELY unacceptable the way that Target treated you today. If I were you I’d file a complaint withe your local Better Business Bureau. You were following the rules and they still treated you like crud. YOU are the customer. YOU help pay their wages. I realize that most of these cashier positions pay low wages and it’s hard to instill top notch customer service at any of these stores (Target, Walgreens, CVS) all of the time, but the corporate offices should really try to do a better job of customer relations training. The “customer is always right” school-of-thinking really is the only way to go in their line of business. As you can see it goes a long way when someone treats you with kindness and respect!
I had an awful experience where the MANAGER bumped out my bags after paying.
She said she had to check the employee’s work. An amount of events happened (I am getting mad thinking about it)…..but I called the BBB. The BBB sent me a letter saying that they don’t conduct cases where an apology is part of the requirements of the case. Whatever that means, but I never requested an apology lol just wanted to make sure the manager got reprimanded for the way she treated/yelled at me (among other things she did).
Ok anyone know how often they update the target online website. EVERY target near me says that they are all sold of of nivea stuff. I’m not sure if they update it every day or just every few days. I don’t want to have to drive around from store to store lol thanks fellow couponers!

Calling about deals is generally a bad idea. It gives the employees a heads up that there is something special going on that they should evaluate (or purchase themselves).
Yup. The employees over here clear the shelves for themselves it is hard to beat them to the deals! I always thought it was someone shelf clearing until my brother over heard employees talking about a great deal and that they put all the stock in the back for employees. They even had designated someone in charge of distributing it. At least they shared amongst themselves lol.
I found the Nivea tins at my store in Norman, OK Sunday afternoon. I got four tins and two bottles of lotion. Then I went to look at sunscreen since we’ll need more this summer. They have an Aveeno suncreen giftcard deal this week! WOOT!

So after the frustrations i had yesterday i just called target corporate and spoke to star (not a real name) in india who once i requested transfered me to the states where i spoke to veronica who was just as rude as the employee in the store who told me each store is in charge of dealing with customers and the only thing she would do is send my information to a corporate person. when i asked when i would receive a call back she said they do not do that. when i asked what my resolution was she said NONE. nice going target. Next call BBB.
Target in NoVa works for Nivea tin and two lip balms for $.35. Not advertised in the paper ad, nor are all items tagged on the shelf.
Yesterday I did the 2 nivea tins and one lotion deal. Today I went back to get a few other things and thought Id check to see if could get a gift card with just buying 3 tins. The register didnt prompt to give a gift card. I told the cashier I was supposed to get one and he told me the register wasnt telling him to give me one because my total was less than 5 dollars. So I asked if i added an item to put me at or above 5 bucks would he give me a gift card. He said hed just take 5 dollars off my total. Which was fine with me….so i added a travel pack of wet ones. So i got a box of pantiliners, wetones, 3 nivea tins, and dryer sheets all for $0.26 cents after tax. I love couponing at target.
Well I went to Target last night to try to get the Nivea Deal. they would not let me use the tins for the deal at all. I pointed out that he sign above the tins said buy 3 get a $5 gift card. didnt seem to matter how I combined it, even when the register prompted for the gift card the cashier and manager would not allow it, saying the tins were not intended to be a part of the deal. and the manager went on and on about how couponers are already getting a great deal so why is it a problem. They had TONS of the tins on the shelves. two ” managers” walked to the shelf and looked at the tag, one said we have to allow it because it is advertised, and one said nope, I will NOT allow this, no questions asked! i said well it is advertised on the shelf. she held up the paper shelf tag, crumpled it up, said what tag? prove it! and walked away! I called coorprate, talked to Kyle, who claims he is in charge of customer relations. I was told that it is up to the discresion of each store what advertised prices they follow and who they follow them for. I asked isnt that discrimination?

That is totally false advertisement!! That’s just HORRIBLE!! I went today to my Super Target and they had a sign up for: Buy 3, get $5 GC (right by the tins). I bought 6 tins and it didn’t prompt for 2 GCs. So I went to customer service and the lady said that I couldn’t do it because my total was 6.00 but I’d be getting back $10. She radioed another person who said that she HAD to give it to me because the sign stated otherwise, yet she wouldn’t give it to me at all. The line was getting long and I was like “Look, this isn’t worth fighting over, just give me 1 GC and we’ll call it a day.” She was huffing and puffing the entire time and I just wanted out of there. Honestly, I think they should have honored it too, but she refused and I didn’t want to continue waiting.
I went to my Washington DC area Target today and there were still plenty of tins and only a few lip balms left. The Creme tins were priced at $1.09 and did NOT have a sign that said they were included in the Buy 3 get a $5 gift card, but I decided to try my luck and picked up 2 tins and the lotion for $4.22. Once they were scanned at the register, it did prompt for the gift card so I was one happy lady. I think they took the signs off the Creme tins and lip balms to detract the couponers but it does appear to still work…
