Bumbo seat belts are a total duh. My 6 month old was in one on the floor and totally inched his way out in less than a minute. i sold it that week for $20 to someone else on Craigslist. He hated it anyway! 🙂

    • Amanda

Yup, if your kid can get out of the Bumbo, it’s time to get out of the Bumbo. 🙂 I think my daughter wasn’t using it around that age anymore as well.

      • Amanda

I meant it’s time to *get rid* of the Bumbo. Mom needs more sleep!

  2. Jess

Is the Goofnights diapers still available.. There seems to be no were to click in the link provided

  3. Karen

That bumbo recall is ridiculous. Babies are top heavy, so what kind of idiot sticks them up on a counter? Too bad there aren’t recalls for stupidity! LOL

    • Amanda

I agree. A baby shouldn’t get a skull fracture for falling out of the seat when it’s ON THE FLOOR. People that put these things up on tables, counters, etc… shouldn’t be having babies to put in them.

  4. Ash

@Karen I agree. If you follow the instructions on the warning label you don’t have anything to worry about. I love the video a Mom made a few years ago. Her child had fallen from the table top and instead of not doing it again, she ran and got a video camera and had the child repeat the accident.

    • Lonie

Totally agree! As for the video… are you serious?!? I can’t believe that… I just watched it on the news this morning where the dad admitted to putting their son on the table top in the bumbo… That’s just asking for the baby to fall… I used the bumbo with my daughter 3 years ago, with no injuries, and once I noticed she was able to push herself out we just stopped using it. Always left it on the ground too… There are a lot of people who lack common sense!

Thanks for posting about the Bumbo belt! My little one managed to tip it over while he was sitting in it at 4 months. Great product but definitely needs to be supervised!

i have the lime bumbo seat that i got off craigslist and want to get the kit for it but i am out of state at the moment. how long will i be able to fill out the form for the free kit? i will be back at my house where its at the end of this month hopefully.

    • Amanda

Not sure, but most times when a product like this is recalled for a safety issue they’ll leave it open for a long time, if not indefinitely. It’s a small price for them to pay to avoid a lawsuit. 😉

    • Noelle

You can still fill out the info and request the kit. Just leave the product # space blank. I couldn’t find that info on mine, and just requested one without filling out the form completely, and it seemed to work.

  7. Nicole

Bumbo seats are not the problem. Poor parenting and supervision is the problem. The fact that bumbo is getting the short end of the stick is silly. Supervise your child, don’t blame everyone else. They don’t need the new belts, all it has is a new warning. Good grief.

  8. J

I agree I used a bumbo seat with my daughter she’s 2 now and we never had a problem I would use one again when we have another child.. I guess it’ll just be extra safe now.. 🙂

  9. Abby

I used the Bumbo seat with my two, once they really started reaching and stretching over the edge they could tip it over anyway. So now it’s just going to be bumbos on their sides with kids strapped in them. It works perfectly safely for its intended purpose. People’s stupidity and laziness is mind boggling

My son hates his bumbo….waste of money. I even bought the play tray. He ripped the tray off and tried to get out of the bumbo. That was at 4 or 5 months. I know a lot of kids do like the bumbo, so the seat belt is a good idea. I ordered one in case our next kid likes the bumbo.

  11. Reagan

Why do babies need the bumbo? Kids sat up before the bumbo was even invented. Babies will sit up when they are ready! Mine sat up by the time he was six months old by himself without the bumbo.

I use a seat similiar to this for my 4 month old because she has reflux due to my having a strong letdown from my breastmilk. If I lay her down at all after I feed her, even if I burp her, she will throw up most of what she ate .If she was my only kid I could just hold her all the time, but I have a 2 and 3 year old and sometimes they need me, and I can’t wear a carrier all the time. I try to be as natural as possible with my children and the products I use, but somtimes seats like this are very useful.

  12. esther

it really depends on your child if s/he wants to stay in…i bought this for my 4 months old back then…after 1 month..he already learned to bend his back to get out…after that i was never able to put him in the chair as he wouldn’t stay in at all…if we don’t request the safety kit…can we still return it for being recalled ?if so, if i can’t find the receipt..do i just bring to store to return saying it’s being recalled?

I got the seven sling during an earlier promotion. It works ok, I can only where it for a half hour or so before my shoulder aches. They’re sizing is screwy, and you have to pay an extra $3 at time of purchase if you want to be able to return it. My advice, get a couple sizes bigger than you think, then if it’s too big, take it in at the seam.
