Happy Friday: Happy 50th Birthday

This morning when we woke up, this is what we found in the yard. My mom turned 50 today and our friends have left her a gift (one we can use on someone else when they turn 50, or change it for another mile stone if need be). I think this is a riot and a unique way to say Happy 50th Birthday. Hope this will help someone else have a good day as well.

In our town, we do this as a fundraiser. You pay a small amount of money (say, $10) to have the “flock” put in someone’s yard, and they have to pay to have it put into another neighbor’s yard, etc., etc. Could be a good way to earn cash for a local school, group, or function!
We have the same thing in our town, except we use purple ones, and all the money goes to breast cancer research!
My church youth group had people do this to earn money for a mission trip–but, instead of flamingos, it was PINK POTTIES! It was hilarious, and I got great pictures of my two year old sitting on the potty in our yard.

A few friends and family members have had these put in yards, one of my mom’s friends did pigs for her husbands birthday!

get this….when I turned 30, I woke up to a big sign on my garage that said, “Look who’s BUSTIN 30!” and a ton of bras were all over my front yard, bushes, and trees! So funny!
Oh geez, how hilarious! I’m glad no one did that to me this year when I turned 30 ;)…my daughter would’ve freaked out!

I have a brother that will turn 50 this monday but have no idea where I would find so many pink yard birds?
That’s hilarious!, but all I have to wonder how much it cost? Even at the dollar stores, those flamingos aren’t that cheap to buy 50, but I assume there was borrowing, garage sale shopping, clearance shopping involved while they collected them. 🙂
Are you sure these are yours to keep? Here we have companies that do this – you can choose flamingos, cows, sheep, storks – all kinds of things for all kinds of occasions BUT they only stay for 24ish hours – they come back and pick them up!
When I was growing up there was a church that did this as a fundraiser. For example you would pay $50 to flock someone’s yard. Great idea.
At my church, you can pay to have someone’s yard flocked and you can also pay an addntl fee if you dont want yours done.
People get “flocked” in my town all the time, its cute to see 🙂
