Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

On Sunday, October 14th, from 11AM-6PM, ULTA Beauty stores nationwide will be hosting The Salon at ULTA Beauty’s Cut-A-Thon. For a minimum suggested donation of $10 (+ tip), customers will snag a cut, shampoo and style by ULTA Beauty’s professionally trained stylists. And the best part… 100% of Cut-A-Thon proceeds will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Keep in mind that it may be wise to pre-book, as I would imagine that spaces are limited, so be sure to call your local salon to check availability and to schedule your appointment Apparently, you cannot make appts for this day; it is strictly first come, first serve so I would plan to arrive very early. Head on over here for more details.

(Thanks, Ruth!)

As soon as I seen the picture, I came straight to the comments to post the same thing.
I have had someone do that to me and it brought back horrible memories. LOL

I was excited when I saw the picture because of the way she was cutting the hair! it looks like she is giving a “devacut” which is a special way of cutting wavy and curly hair…I’d love to get a devacut. the picture alone will be what makes me check to see if there is an Ulta Salon around here and if they have any Deva Stylists!

I’m going to have to look into this type of cut!! I have unruly Annie hair 😉

i bet its beautiful! or can be! the best thing i ever did for my hair was stop using shampoo! i just “wash” it with conditioner and the curls are much happier which means i’m happier too:) check into it for sure! get “The Curly Girl Handbook” from the library or look up the ‘curly girl method’ online…seriously, sounds wierd at first but sooo worth it to give it a month or two to see what it can do for you!

That’s how it was last year. And you need to be there WAY early. I got there just as they opened and had to come back for my appointment 6 hours later

    • J

So you could make an appointment like after waiting in the line?

      • Anita

I went last year and basically they put your name on a list in the order that you were in line and I had to periodically come back to see if it was my turn yet. I was #21 in line and I came when they opened, was first told that it was 2 hours and finally I waited for about 4 hours for my haircut which was average at best.

        • J

          Thanks for the info.:-)

        • cjmurray94

It took them 4 hours to get through 21 people? Seriously?

I cracked up when I saw the post about Ulta – I have been thinking about them all day! My son and I sat in the parking lot for a few minutes next to an Ulta, waiting for my mom to come out of a different store. We watched an employee park her car in a spot, get out and literally slam her door open into the car next to her. She shut her door, went into her trunk for a few items out of a bag, put one heel on and opened her driver’s side door again, hitting the car next to her this time on purpose (he looked). She leaned on her door to get the last strap of her shoe on, grinding the door into the car next to her, and went to work with a toss of her hair. My son and I just sat there with gaping mouths, and then my son (13yrs old) told me to never let those ladies touch my hair! HA! I couldn’t have said it better myself! I couldn’t believe what we had seen!!!

Last time they had a promotion for a free service, the lady that did my hair was so rude and unhappy of doing a “free” thing. It was very uncomfortable, she made me feel as I was doing something wrong. I think I will pass this time.

Just as a reference….I decided to give ultra a try a few months back for a haircut. It was DISASTEROUS!!! It took 2 stylists almost 3 1/2 hours to take me from medium-length hair to what should’ve been a sharply angled bob that I showed them at least 4 examples of…and they still didn’t even come close and I bawled my eyes out in the car. I had to keep correcting them and I still ended up with a bit of a mullett…so just know that u may get a newbie or 2 especially on a $10 cut day like this. For that price I’m not saying it isn’t worth the gamble, but I thought that walking into Ulta could never be as bad as a super cuts…..and I was wrong. Good luck tho and thank u Collin for Posting deals!!!

I got my haircut at the Ulta in novi, Mi (it’s new) and had a great experience!

These stylists basically are making minimum wage during the Cut A Thon. They are donating their time to this great cause. Quit being hateful! The stylists at my store are wonderful and are pros. Don’t let these bad experiences hinder you going. Plus its for charity! How could you go wrong?

    • Diana G

I’m pretty sure it was very evident I wasn’t being hateful. I just gave my personal experience. Before I’d gone I’d never known anyone who had had their haircut there and would’ve loved some references good and bad. I in fact said that it wasn’t not worth not going for a $10 haircut. But I personally would rather just donate the $10 instead of waiting for the 4-6 hrs like some ppl have said for what for ME (I never said all ultas) was a terrible experience that I had to pay more to have fixed. I thought I was pretty darn cheerful in having given those opinions so don’t put “hateful” words into my mouth!!!!!!

  12. Sunny

I don’t think anyone is being hateful when it comes to something like personal appearance! I personally know what it’s like to get a bad haircut and to leave the salon bawling. It’s happened more than once, and on one occasion, the stylist blamed my “bad” hair! (FYI I have awesome hair, every stylist says so once they get their hands on it.) And the thing is, yeah, you can get it “fixed” to look OK, but still, it won’t be what you wanted, and you then have to go months and months (and maybe more months) before you actually can look how you want to look again. No, not hateful at all.

We have a new Ulta in Florence, SC. I have had good experiences there. If you are having issues, perhaps you should ask for a Senior Stylist. The cost will/may be a little extra, but worth walking out with gorgeous hair! Not sure if they will choose to work on a “$10 day”. I would hope so, for charity.
