Wow! If you are signed up for JCPenney emails, you may have received an email today with a *HOT* $10 Promotional in-store gift coupon, valid on any purchase of $10 or more! Quite a few readers have emailed me about receiving one this morning, so I thought I should post since lots of you may have deleted thinking it was trash. Also, it may have gone into your spam folder.

The subject line of the email is “ A Letter And Gift From Our CEO” and you can also search the email address it came from jcpenney@jcpenneyem.com .

To use the $10 Promotional Gift coupon, print the page in your email and take it to a JCPenney store near you! * Coupon can ONLY be used once. One coupon per customer. Valid 10/11/12-11/4/12.

      That’s why it says “new and improved JCP”. They found out their pricing strategy did not work, and now they’re trying to recover.

      I have been loving the new JCP, LOL. I got ladies leather Relic belts for $1 a piece, $5 skirts, $10 & $12 dresses recently on clearance. Can’t beat those prices anywhere. Less people shopping there mean more clearance and lower prices if you can wait it out. I agree their “everyday” prices are a little on the high side though. I think they are going in the wrong direction. Their latest thing according to the email was that they are going to have a collection of shops with individual sales associates. Don’t think people care about that as much as getting a good deal. I think it was a mistake to close the catalog departments and have the centralized customer service handle catalog orders & returns.

        They opened up one of these JC Penney’s by me, and I love the individual shops, it is clean and separated really well. Not saying you will love it, but you might like it when you see it implemented. It makes the store very high end looking.

        Also when they opened the new JCP by me they donated $10,000 to the local boys and girls club, they keep that stuff up I will be shopping there regularly, I like stores that help the community.

    Funny. The other JCP emails came to my inbox. This one went to spam. I was just getting ready to unsubscribe, too, because I haven’t received responses to two emails regarding their “happy returns” policy (they were only willing to give me half what I paid for a pair of shoes because the receipt wouldn’t scan, though the receipt clearly shows what I paid).

      You have been misinformed. We can type in the receipt information and pull it up. If you have a receipt, even if it is an old one, the policy is to refund you the full amount that you paid. The only thing might be if the shoes were not in good condition, then it would be at the manager’s discretion to accept or refuse them, or if you did not have a receipt at all.

    My local JCP looks very nice now. But I don’t see anyone shopping there except big markdown days.

    BTW, my local Sears has green ticket clearance items are ringing up all $3.99 or $7.99. Even green tickets say, $4.99, $7.99, or $9.99, ring up $3.99 at the check out. Something more higher priced items, like $14.99 will be $7.99, I think. I picked all under $3.99 ones.
    I got some kids and mine yesterday, saved a lot!! Call your store and check if they have the same sale we have.

    I was just about to unsubscribe last night! Hurray for procrastination! I’m glad to have an excuse to shop JCP again.

    P.S. I used to really love shopping at JCPenney until they did away with coupons and sales. For some of us, we like to know that we saved 75% and brag about it to our husbands (who might otherwise tell us to keep our purses closed). The one benefit to the pricing system was getting my adorable tankini for a very reasonable price. But, that was one purchase during the entire change… Bring back the bragging rights, JCPenney.

      I actually like the new prices. I like to know that if my boys need jeans or shirts, for example, I can get them there cheap rather than trying to hunt for a sale/coupon.

    Thanks Collin, I hope this $10 coupon helps me to change my mind about JCP. I have yet to purchase anything from them this year. I visited the store about three times since their new pricing, and I couldn’t come up with anything to purchase. Maybe it was me knowing that I did not have a coupon. They really have nice clothes. I’m also impressed with the quality. In my opinion, better than Macy’s

      Same here! I was a loyal JCP costumer. I’ve bought furniture, clothing, portraits, window treatments etc. from them. First I had their credit card to get the deals. Then I noticed people without the card were getting better coupons/ deals plus not paying interest the months I didn’t pay in full. Then the no coupon policy. I was very upset and have written numerous time. I guess it’s back to coupons.

        I don’t think they are going to do regular coupons again. The gist I got from the email was that this was basically an invitation to see the new collection of shops they are opening throughout the store and was a one time deal. Anything can change though. I really like JCP’s clearance though. I have purchased more there in the past year than I ever have in my life….$8 & $10 shoes, $1 leather belts, $5 skirts & tops, $8, $10 & $12 dresses. It’s been awesome!

    YAY!!! I received one. Thanks for posting this deal Collin. Had I not looked at this post, I honestly would have immediately deleted the email without opening it simply because JCP has dissappointed me with with their sales strategy. The good thing is the coupon doesn’t expire until 11/04/12!!

    My JCP has taken out 13 registers in the store according to the sales lady I talked to when I was in last. There are only 2 TWO!!! checkouts on the whole bottom floor. They’ve taken out catalog department, etc. She told me they were moving to “pods” of some sort and there wouldn’t be regular registers. She said, well maybe one for people who pay by cash or check but otherwise they won’t be accepting that payment at their “pods.” I have not been impressed with all the changes. I worked there about 10 years ago and it seemed to be doing much better. Oh, and I didn’t get a coupon. Boohoo!! 🙂

      Sounds like they are moving in the wrong direction. People don’t want specialized shops they want affordable items and the ability to check out in an efficient manner. I think that dismantling the catalog departments in store was a mistake & have told them so a couple of times when they sent surveys out. Guess theyre not listening.

        I agree. You have to go to a register to get your catalog order. Only there aren’t hardly any in the store to go to! I guess we’ll see what these futuristic-sounding pod things are and see how that goes for them.

      Having separate stores will reduce people thinking “Oh, I need to get ____ this item, and I should go to the other department to get something for _____.”
      I don’t want to wait in several different lines IN THE SAME STORE! It’s convenient to go to children’s, men’s, women’s, and the other department stores and just keep adding to you to-buy pile.

      It’s an Ipad. We are going to be getting them and will be able to check out customers with small orders and also look up items online, stock, etc. My understanding is there will be one register per level for large orders or payments with cash/check. I don’t know how it’s going to work out. We already get a lot of complaints (and rightly so) about not being able to find a checkout or having to wait a long time to check out.
