New My Starbucks Rewards Program (Starts Today)

The new My Starbucks Rewards Program changes go into effect today, 10/16…
*No more waiting for a postcard in the mail to get your reward. It will now be loaded right to your Starbucks card and you will receive an email when you’ve earned one. Yay!
*Your free drink reward will be valid on food as well ~Any food!
*Gold members will earn a free drink or food reward with every 12 Stars instead of 15.
*Starbucks will no longer offer syrups and soy milk on the house, nor will they offer a free Tall beverage when you buy a bag of whole bean coffee. 🙁

Hmm… I had the Gold card a few years ago, I might have to go find it and use it again. I was turned off from the lack of free syrups, but it looks like they made up for it with the 12 stars instead of 15 now. Do I basically have to get 30 stars again to get gold? I’ll be able to do that pretty quickly once it finally stays cold here in NC! ; )
Yes, I do think you have to start over. I know you have to buy so many per year to maintain your gold status, which for me isn’t a problem. Slightly addicted. :0)
Yes, you do have to start all over earning the 30 stars. I was 2 drinks away from maintaining my gold status and thought I had until October 30th before my gold status started over, but it was actually September 30th, so as of Oct. 1 I went back to green status and am having to start all over to get back to gold. Bummer!
MY birthday was in Oct. I did not receive a free drink as I have in past years-Also haven’t received free drink earned for purchase of 12 or 15 drinks. I am owed several drinks-Is my card not valid anymore?

JJ log into your account and it shows your status. Otherwise you’ll have to have 30 to get gold =)
I heard there is another status past gold for very frequent buyers..
All I know was that if you get another 30 AFTER you got your gold, you’ll automatically get another year of gold status. Other than that, I don’t think there’s anything else different…
I hope they’ll still honor bags that offer the free tall coffee. I have quite a few bags saved up from previous purchases

nooo, they did not accepted my bag, not in Target store, not in 2 Stabucks stores. Said it’s over. And actually i had trouble redeeming my bag on a weekend, because cashier said that sometime it’s gonna be over… I still have like 10 bags left, and i am upset about it. And also checked coffee packs at Target today, they still have writing on them for a tall coffee. False advertising now.
I believe the fine print does say “at particapting starbucks” so it’s not really false advertising.
I read the comments on the link you posted…doesn’t seem like anyone is happy with the changes.
I’m not surprised…. I, for one, am NOT happy about this change… I kept going back just cos I get free soy and syrup for my coffees, but now that they don’t offer it no more, I’d have to think twice if I’d really wanna pay an extra $1.10 each cup of coffee I get, on top of their already overpriced coffee. And I am addicted to starbucks coffee! I guess it’s home brewed starbucks from now on…
Yeah I’m not. I didnt go a lot but it seems like they got rid of all the actual good perks. Very disappointed.
CHECK YOUR STARS too!!! We lost two of our stars with the changes and had to call to get them back. 🙁
They’re taking away more than they’re giving. I won’t buy my coffee beans there anymore without the free drink
I think I’ll like the new program, but I had only 3 stars left until my free drink… now I have 12. Bummer!
I just tried calling because the FAQs say you shouldn’t lose any of your stars if you were a current member. I was on hold for too long, so I’ll have to try back later. I wonder if lots of people are having similar issues.
Make sure to click on rewards History to see if you have any new earned drinks that need to be redeemed. They are all digital now… no more mailed cards.
I was bummed by the extra charges this morning… but I was having a very difficult morning and need the extra boost. The new charges are really going to help me fix my Starbucks Addiction.
For someone like myself, the rewards are better now. I get a tall coffee everyday, and it’s nice that I can get food now (those bistro boxes are expensive). I don’t think they should charge for soy though.
This is a change that will see me leave. been a gold level since the beginning, when had to pay $25 for the black card. No one asked me about the changes. Soy and syrups as a bonus for the card, since the first day of using the card, is dropped. Bye.
I have a Gold card. I earn FREE Starbucks cards with Swagbucks and Bing rewards. I drink free Starbucks all the time!
Eventually it will catch up, they will realize what they have done if enough people complain, and they will change their policy to the way it was previously. Unfortunately in this economy, everyone is scraping to get by, even Starbucks!
As a barista at my local Starbucks, I am not happy with the changes. 12 stars instead of 15 and free food or drink are good changes, but we overcharge to begin with, so why not leave the syrup, soy and free tall beverage with purchase of a pound of coffee alone?Those changes add up and I know it will turn loyal customers away. I opened my store yesterday and thankfully did not have any disgruntled customers, but I know they exist. I won’t drink there unless I’m working.
