Are these anything like fresh strawberries? Because frozen ones are usually nasty and mushy…. Has anyone tried them?

    • Barb

i get them all the time and love them. have also had the blueberries. i let the strawberries sit out for a little bit and then eat them. they are still “partially frozen” when I eat them so never had to deal with mushiness which I hate.

These are gross. You certainly do not want them to thaw at all–they are mushy and usually are a little on the yellowish/not ripe side. On the other hand, if you eat them frozen, they have no flavor at all that resembles a strawberry. I bought several packages of these on a deal some time ago, and ended up throwing most of them out because no one in my house will eat them.

We really liked them in frozen smoothies. I’ve also used them in pancakes. My family loves them both ways. Of course fresh is better but we found them to be pretty good.

If you have Harris Teeter, check out the e-Vic specials this week. At my Harris Teeter (in Nashville, TN), they are on sale for 1.77 – and Harris Teeter doubles up to 1.00 – so they would only cost .27!

thanks for the tip Laura! I’m headed there now! 🙂

The blueberries are great to have on hand for muffins & scones. I bought the strawberries and thought they would be good for my daughters lunch since they would be thawed by lunchtime and she hated them – said they were mushy.

I just saw them at Wegmans for $1.69 and was wishing I had a coupon. So glad you found one and thanks for sharing. This makes them .19 at Wegmans.
