My 12 year old daughter LOVES this magazine!

  2. Amy

This magazine caters to young girls 10 and up and the focus is already on better abs and doing 12 things guys will love?? Wow. That’s pathetic, really.

Sad, isn’t it?!? At 10 I was still reading the American Girl books and magazine 🙂

    • mommy1

I know. I was thinking the same thing. It seems to be all about boys, how to get them to like you, and how to look “good.” Sad what this world places importance on young girls and it is no wonder there are so many issues with eating disorders, teen pregnancy, etc.

Glad I’m not the only one that didn’t love this magazine’s targeted age group….I have a 10 year old daughter and I do not want her worrying about her abs and whether she’s driving boys crazy or not! Maybe for a 15 year old (which I still don’t love), but for now my little girl is still playing with dinosaur toys and reading Highlights magazine!

  3. Brandi

Seriously heartbroken at the article topics and the targeted age group! Talk about AGENDA AND PROPOGANDA! Some “deals” cost us more than we may ever know! 😒

  4. J

Sheesh…my daughter is almost 9, and seeing that this is geared at 10 y/o makes my heart hurt. Let them be little as long as they can. I feel bad for the girl who never thought twice about her “abs” but now wonders why hers aren’t “amazing.” Tough world out there.

In fairness, the articles really aren’t how they are being portrayed. They address healthy eating and exercise, self-care, constructive ways to deal with friends and the “boys” thing that DOES come up at this age (maybe not at 10 though…). The title of the article is about things you do that boys love and the articles talk about self-respect and feeling good about being your unique self. I find that the content is very positive and geared towards a growing girl’s overall health, despite the fact that the cover headlines may remind moms of the headlines on adult women’s magazines.

I agree. They aren’t saying “skinny” they’re saying “fit!” With the amount of obese folks influencing our children I think it’s great! Their boy tips are things like “don’t giggle and whisper to your friends when he walks up.” Maybe a little mature, bug not just horrible!

In this day and age 12 year olds are pregnant…please talk to your kids about not only abstinence but how to prevent STDs and pregnancy. Kids talk, your child may be waiting, but maybe she’ll tell her friend who isn’t and doesn’t have a mom or dad who has talked to her.

      • Em

The way I see it, this is WAY better than them reading the Cosmo their friend brought to school, they’ll definitely be less tempted!

    • Nic

Exactly. I used to read this magazine when I was younger and thinking back nothing I read was ever irresponsible or too mature for that age group. Girls do have crushes at that age and exercise is just a good idea at all ages. I doubt that they’re telling girls to starve themselves or exercise too much.

Magazines like this isn’t worth it even on sales. Girls on there aren’t all that worth reading about. Little girls are growing up too fast and cherishing their innocence is more important than imitating Hollywood “girls”. They are look more like little women, trashy women. Skip this one folks!

  7. Noelle

And when you click on the link, it shows an issue with Jamie Lynn Spears on the cover – who got pregnant at 16! INSANITY.

    • Nic

Those look to be older covers. She was very popular a few years back, before she got pregnant. Now people don’t even talk about her, so I doubt she’d be on the cover right now.

If you still want this but missed the deal deadline it is available at MagazinesUSA.com $17.85-$8.90*=$8.95

    ($1.49/issue)

    • Shanshan

LOL your code still works and took out $9.90, so $7.95 for one year/6 issues.

Amazon review seems to be pretty bad due to those “boy pleasing” articles, but my 10 yr old really wants it and no other girl magazines, so I’ll probably give it a try and read every issue before I give them to her.
