Here’s my usual question at this time of the year: Are these giveaways based on Standard or Daylight time?

    • Ashley57

Are you in the one state that does not change over? I am sure these are based on Daylight time, as it is EST. All of the states on the east coast change over.

      • Caro

I guess I wasn’t clear. The info above in the giveway lists EST – Eastern Standard Time. Where I live in the Pacific Northwet, it is now Daylight Time and in the East it is also Daylight Time. So, do I pretend we are still on Standard Time in figuring the time difference? This happens a lot on many sites this time of year. Is it on a case by case basis, or what?

        • Ashley57

Last year I did not have a problem with this on any giveaways I did. I wouldn’t worry about it and assume everyone is on Daylight Time. Has this ever been a problem for you?

          • Caro

I can’t remember about a specific problem, but its confusing to me if there is a specific time such as 12 noon EST to be there or lose out. Do I get on at 9am PDT which would be 11am EST or 10am PDT which would be 12 noon EST? (I think I figured that right.)

I have run into problems if I enter something after 9:00pm Pacific Time on a day and the site goes by Eastern Time, which would be after 12 midnight or the next day. And, they don’t say which they go by.

If your state and the east coast are all on daylight savings time there is no difference in time between you than there is during standard time. You both jumped an hour ahead at the same time. Unless you’re in a state who does not observe the time change, everything should be the same. I live in the central time zone and standard or daylight savings has no impact on the difference because I am in a state who observes daylight savings and jumps ahead with the other states who do the same. 9am EST for me is 8am CST always, doesn’t matter if it’s standard or daylight savings. Now my family in Indiana who does not observe the change goes from being EST during standard and they are on CST during daylight savings.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone really know why we are still doing this? Back in the olden days it made sense, but now I don’t think it does. Studies have proven that it does not save electricity, etc.

at least in my experience they usually don’t change the abbreviation. They simply say EST out of habit when it’s really EDT.

Has anybody else tried it and liked it? It was really thick and left a horrible after taste. My husband didn’t like it either. I am wondering if it’s supposed to be that consistency or if I had a bad one.
