Amazon Coins: FREE 500 Coins (Worth $5!) to Buy Apps & Games for Kindle Fire Owners
Amazon Coins, a new virtual currency for U.S. customers to purchase Kindle Fire-compatible apps, games, and in-app items, is offering up a nice surprise! If you own a Kindle Fire, head on over to Amazon where you’ll find 500 FREE Amazon Coins in your account (worth $5!) that can be used to buy apps and games, as well as items inside apps and games. Plus, if you want to purchase additional coins for yourself or your family, you get to do so at a discount!
If you have enough Amazon Coins to make a purchase, do one of the following…
*On Kindle Fire 2nd Generation, Kindle Fire HD 7″, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, tap the price of the app from the detail page or the in-app item from within the app (Amazon Coins is the default payment option), and then tap Get App for apps or games, or Get Item for in-app items.
*On Amazon.com, you’ll see payment options at checkout for your regular 1-Click payment method and for Amazon Coins, and you can select either option.
*On Kindle Fire 1st Generation, make your purchase on the Amazon Appstore on Amazon.com, and then download your purchase on your device (go to Apps, and then the Cloud tab).
*NOTE – Redeeming Amazon Coins is supported on Kindle Fire 2nd Generation, Kindle Fire HD 7″, and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, and on the Amazon Appstore on Amazon.com. If you own a Kindle Fire 1st Generation, you can redeem your Coins on the Amazon Appstore on Amazon.com, and then download it using the Cloud tab. You can’t purchase subscriptions and certain other items with Coins, redeem Coins for cash or Amazon Gift Cards, nor purchase any items outside the Amazon Appstore.
Sounds good to me! 😀
(Thanks, Mommy Octopus, Dayna, & Gina!)
Do you know where I can find these in my account? My homepage said that I received them but I don’t see them listed anywhere. Thanks!
When I click an app, it shows that I can pay .99 (or whatever the cost) or use 99 coins. Under that it says that I have 500 coins available. That’s the only place I’ve found where it showed my credit.
I can’t find it either.
Thank you
Thanks for the heads up!
Anybody care to share their favorite kids apps for Kindle?
I just purchased “My Playhome” using some of the coins, I thought my 3 1/2 yr old would like that one!
My daughter just turned 3 and LOVES Beck and Bo and Pepi Tree
I have a Kindle Fire and only know how to Facebook and read my books. Dumb question…does on have to be connected to the internet to read your Kindle and can one use apps without being connected? I see an app for a shopping list and was wondering if I could use this app while out shopping.
No once you purchase a book or app it will download to your kindle once you open it. Than it’s on your kindle and you can play whenever you want. You cannot surf the web without having wifi.
I spent some time researching didn’t apps to purchase. Decided to get this “talking Bible” app. It will “read” the bible audibly to you. 4.99, so the 500 coins works perfectly. Also, Amazon will not let you use the coins on a purchase that is over $5.00.
here the link on the talking audio Bible, if anyone is interested:

Yikes! sorry! Just posted the link. Didn’t know a large image would appear.
After Amazon adds 41 cents tax, the total is $5.40 and coins won’t work 🙁
The Monkey pre-school apps are GREAT!
Do these free 500 coins expire?
My email said they expire one year from today. Our favorite apps are “my little pony”, “littlest pet shop” and “nemos reef”, they are all freemium games, which means they are free but you can pay for some additional features and to upgrade and move on in the game. My little pony and pet shop you can play offline but nemo requires an internet connection to play
Also I have a parental lock that allows my kids to play without being able to purchase items in game, a life saver since I figured that one out 🙂 lol
Howdy all. If you own a 1st generation Kindle Fire, you will not be able to use the coins directly on the kindle. You would have to go on the computer to use the 500 free coins.
One more thing, you can not use coins and amazon credits/ credit card together. For example, a $5.99 app would require either 599 coins or $5.99 charge. You cannot use all 500 free coins and then only be charged $0.99 for the difference. You must use one or the other when buying apps, so keep that in mind.
i didnt recieve any please help
How do you get 500 coins I don’t know how
