I am a part of a group of teachers who sell teaching resources online at: teacherspayteachers.com. Many of us sellers have come together to create free downloadable ebooks. Each page of the ebooks has a teacher tip, and a link to a free teaching resource. There is a Grades K-2 Math book, Language Arts Grades K-2 book, Math for Grades 3-5, Language Arts for Grades 3-5, then Math Grades 6-12, Language Arts 6-12, Science 6-12 and Social Studies 6-12. These would be great for any teacher or any homeschooling parent!

Along with these free books, the site has over 110,000 FREE resources that can be downloaded. Priced resources are very reasonably priced too! We are all teachers who are selling products we know work, because we have used these ideas in our own classrooms!

I am an elementary school counselor and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this website. I use it ALL the time. Thanks for highlighting TPT for everyone!

  2. Steffers

I have an autistic 2 year old son and this site has great resources for pecks and other autistic learning tools. Not just for the mainstreamed kids!

Just want to put this out there– If I were you, I would seriously look into the origins and true philosophy of what the ‘Common Core’ program is all about – it is not really about the teaching of our children, it is a whole lot deeper than that. I do not agree with most of their proposals and the ideas that they are going to implement in the schools – it is NOT GOOD !! They are removing facts from our own American History from the teaching books- and brainwashing our kids with propaganda ! I know this is my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own, however, this is my children’s future at stake. Find out for yourself!!

    • Laura

Totally agree. I am trying to teach my children much information beyond Common Core as there is so much not taught in schools these days. Took the kids to the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam this summer and not one of them had learned anything about the Holocaust. Scary!

I do think the site is awesome for a number of other things, though, so I don’t hold that against the site. I have gotten some awesome printables that I used last spring as thank yous for the teacher at the end of the year. I was able to print out book labels to affix to the books we purchased for the teacher’s room library, all free!

So, please enlighten me as to what exactly the Common Core is then, if it is not geared towards helping students achieve higher standards.

      • teach

There’s so much wrong with it I don’t even know where to start. A few things are that it portrays communism & socialism as a good thing and portrays capitalism as greedy and self-serving. It also makes math extremely confusing for even the best students (seen this personally). Lastly, it leaves important events in history out (or they’ve changed it to fit their agenda) and some of the people in history that they learn about are absolutely ridiculous. Look it up for yourself. Just because the government changes something doesn’t mean it’s in your best interest.

        • Elementary math teacher

I’m a common core math teacher, totally disagree that it make math more confusing, if anything, it does the opposite. Students gAin a deeper understanding of concepts, rather than memorization. WHY does the addition algorithm work, WHY does the multiplication algorithm work? Wouldn’t you rather teach students to think instead of teaching them to memorize? Don’t get all worked up over the hype, you need to really study it before you form an opinion. If we’re going to be first in the world again, then its time to prepare our children to do so.

          • teach

Believe me, I’ve studied it. I don’t just jump on bandwagons. As far as the math goes, we’ll just have to agree to disagree because I’ve seen multiple children reduced to tears. Our school systems don’t give a flip if our kids actually get “it”, they just want them to memorize random crap so that they can have good test scores. I also don’t want my children fed a bunch of lies about the history of our country…no thank you…I want more for my kids.

I am really confused by many of the comments here. Please check out https://www.corestandards.org/ to view the standards for yourself. There is only common core for language arts and math. The standards are designed to make sure students in the United States are thinking at higher levels and not just learning basic facts. Each state has makes their own standards for social studies/history – common core has nothing to do with it.

    • Pam

I share your opinion, Suz. We homeschool and want NOTHING to do with Common Core.

    • CA

Can you give sources for your comments about removing information from the social studies/history curriculum. In all honesty, as far as I know, Common Core doesn’t even directly address the content of history curriculum.

  4. Christine

Does anyone know if they have resources that are NOT common core?

  5. Smellyann

    Common Core = badness

  6. Randi

@Christine: Yes there are many resources that are not common core 🙂

    • Christine

Thank you:) We are definitely not doing common core as part of our homeschool curriculum. It is really sad to see some of the curriculum we use going common core (math-u-see being one of them).

  7. Meg

I have purchased many, many things from this site. It’s a wonderful source of materials for all subjects from kindergarten through high school. Common Core is just the latest trend (there is always something new), but there are literally thousands of things to choose from on the site suitable for home schoolers or any classroom. I love that my money is going to help fellow educators! Finally, I think it’s really important to keep this site positive, so let me just say that if you’re concerned about any trend in your child’s classroom-get involved! Every district has open, public school board meetings, open house nights, curriculum review opportunities, PTA vacancies, and tons and tons of opportunities to be informed, volunteer, and make a difference!

Thank you for posting about Teacher Pay Teachers! I am a teacher and buy, use and have just started posting my own creations/products on Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT). I would LOVE for you to check out my personal store:

      https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Sue-Lynch

I have products that I like to use within my classroom and even at home with my own children. Some of my products integrate the use of technology where the child scans a QR Code to gain information and/or even have a story read to them! My iPod readers (listening center) as well as my iPad readers are great for young children even at home, in the car or at the restaurant! Scan the QR Code (with your iPod, iPad, iPhone, tablet device) and it will bring up a ‘video story’ on your device for your child! Check them out!

Thanks for giving a shout out to the teachers! 🙂 I LOVE Hip2Save!

Social studies/History is in the process of being implemented. How anyone can research this and think that this is going to bring the US back to #1 is crazy. Here are just a few sources (I especially like the comparison with Hitler and the Nazi’s-they furthered their agenda by controlling education)…

    https://www.freedomworks.org/blog/jborowski/top-10-reasons-to-oppose-common-core

As for finding out exactly what’s in the social studies/history that WILL eventually be implemented…I would suggest listening to Glenn Beck ;). That’s all I have to say about it and hopefully people will wake up before it’s too late!

Just wanted to thank those of you who are standing out against Common Core. While this is not the forum for discussing every little detail of it, the fact that there are people willing to make others question why people are opposed to it is a great step in awareness of what it truly is & where it stems from. I also would not purchase anything that supports Common Core. As far as the one who said this is just a “trend”…to a certain degree, I agree in the hope that this too soon shall pass.

  10. CA

I would just caution those who really want to investigate Common Core to get a balanced approach to the subject. Criticism comes from many political viewpoints, but some are sadly just spouting alarmist arguments with little evidence. There are many viewpoints – be informed, but with well-researched, accurate information.

  11. Shelly

Just say, “No,” to Big Brother government and endoctrination of our children further away from the Judeo-Christian principles on which our country was founded by saying, “No,” to Common Core.
