I need a cheap car seat- the one after the infant seat- anyone seen one? Brand doesn’t matter- just the cheapest

Check out the Cosco Scenera if price is your biggest factor. Can go rear or forward facing, up to 40lbs. Generally under $50.

My mom has the Cosco seat for when we travel across the country to visit. It is just fine and has fit my daughter from 6 months to currently 3 years, and I think will still work for another year based on her weight. It can go forward or backward, and it very inexpensive

The Scenera actually rated pretty well on Consumer Reports (much to my surprise). I have Britax convertibles for my three.
Please remember REAR FACING until 2 years old is the current standard and recommendation.

we got the scenera for our second car also for traveling as it is too heavy to lug around the britax. it has worked great for us.

I have a $39 Cosco from walmart that I use when traveling bc I don’t want my everyday pricier ones damaged in transit and such.

We have a cosco scenera for our second car as a backup seat. It is very highly rated for such a low price (I think CR might have actually selected it as their top seat). It is not as cushy as others – but a good seat for sure. You can get the Cosco at Wal-Mart for under $40 (we did free ship to store since it wasn’t in stock).

Yes just be sure it can rear face (this is a booster so is only forward facing). Search convertible car seats online and if on a specific site search low to high on pricing. Evenflo or Cosco are typically lower in price than some others. Child is recommended to be rear facing until age 2 or the upper weight limit of the car seat when rear facing.

    Thanks, Collin!! 🙂

I agree. The costco scenera is the best car seat for the value! It can go rear facing or front facing. Buy it at walmart for the best price.

I have this seat and it is wonderful! Easy to move between cars plus my 5 yr old and 3 1/2 yr old can both use it. Wish I could have scored this price!

Awesome- the scenaro looks great. If anyone sees a cheaper one, let me know!

If you don’t need it right away, Kohls is good to keep an eye on. If you can catch a 30% off and free shipping during a kohls cash promo you can get a good deals on a car seat (online– I don’t think they carry them in the store).

      • Em

Awesome! I don’t need it until probably January so I will keep an eye out!

When it comes to carseats-97% of people have improperly installed seats or a seat that is not appropriate for the child. This is one of those items where you spend the extra money and or time researching… rather than the “least expensive” or one that will just be OK. Most cities have a designated place you can go to have your carseat inspected for size and proper installation.

    • Em

Um, for someone that knows “so much” you sure don’t! They all pass the same tests and the results aren’t released on which are “better” than others. The $40 one is just as good as the ridiculously priced Britax.

A britex Carseat, a pickle bottom diaper bag, a mccellan stroller and $$$ in the hole. Some moms are crazy.
