Does anyone know if just the larvae ever go on sale? We bought a kit last year, but I’m wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a whole new kit to get the certificate.

    • Cara

I ended up buying a whole new kit when it went on sale around this price – it was cheaper than getting new caterpillars.
Highly recommend this! When we ordered our second, only two caterpillars turned into butterflies (all did the first time). I contacted the company and they sent us new caterpillars immediately at no charge.

They sent me email specials all the time

    How much are the larvae?

    • Candace

You get a free certificate for the larvae when you buy the habitat.

    • Ashley

You get a certificate for ‘free’ larvae, but you do pay $5 handling.

They had this an the ant an ladybug one at my local shopko for $2.50 on clearance 🙂

  5. Janet

The larvae is not free anymore. I just did this with my boys and had to pay shipping on larvae forget exactly how much but 7-10 dollars. I was surprised because the last time we did it it was free.

My niece would love this, but In three weeks in WV it could be very cold at the time for the butterflies release…what would happen to them then?

    • Ashley

You can get the kit and send in for the larvae when it warms up.

  7. Cheryl

Ohhh, you can order your caterpillars when you’re ready for them…I see 🙂 Might have helped if I would have read up on them a little before asking!
