Wow! As I mentioned the other day, Dollar General is offering up a *HOT* 3-Day sale that runs through 11/23 – you can check out all of the deals here. Well, the buy 1 get 2 FREE Hot Wheels deal is even sweeter than what they have advertised. You see, a few readers have emailed that these Hot Wheels are ringing up for even less at checkout. I even had my friend go test at her local store in Florida where they also rang up even lower than the advertised price! I am not sure how long this sale will last, so I would recommend heading over there soon.
Here’s what the deal looks like:

Buy 3 Hot Wheels (or more) ringing up at $0.41 each
Minus the buy 1 get 2 FREE sale = $0.41 (+ tax) for 3
Final cost just $0.14 each!
* Keep in mind that the receipt shows various discounts on it and is quite confusing. However, after looking at it for a bit, it basically means you are paying $0.41 (+ tax) for every 3 you purchase!
Note that another reader bought 9 cars and also received the same discounts! Wow!

This happened to my mom as well but then I tried the deal at a different nearby DG but they rang up as advertised. So weird, I’m scratching my head on this one. Lol
I bought 12 yesterday and it was the advertised price, not this lower price… I’m located in central california

Would it be possible that since each HW car has a different SKU that some are ringing up less than others? Just a thought.
I did this deal yesterday and it rang up 3 for $1.25 but when I did it today they rang up like this
I bought six today and they rang up for about $.84 total. The cashier told her fellow worker that the sale was finally working. I didn’t buy more since there was just a few left on the shelf and also I wasn’t for sure if they entered the sale price (codes) correctly.

I am not in Atlanta but near Mall of GA and I just bought 12 cars for around $1.80 with tax.
They are ringing up at $0.87 for 6 cars.
Here in NE 3 for 1.25 and that’s what I paid. I would had bought more for .14 each. Still a great buy.

I bought 9 and BOY was it a nightmare! They rang up like this: $1.25 (-83), $1.25 (-83), and $1.25. It took the cashier FOURTY FIVE minutes to UNDERSTAND my explaination and refund my $2.50.

I bought six for $0.84 earlier this afternoon in Missouri. They were the only 6 in the store. It was perfect because they are for my son to donate to his schools toy drive.
Must be an error for some locations. I bought some yest. at 2 stores and they were both the advertised sale price – buy 1 at $1.25 get 2 free – great price.
$.41 for me here in Arkansas, but that’s still a great price! Potty training my 2 y/o begins this weekend (wish me luck!) & I was going to buy these as incentive/rewards anyway. Perfect timing!
I went after seeing this post and they rung up at $.41 each, which comes out the sale price, but that was fine with me. I got 12 for $5.23. Better than over $12!
Just went there. They were B1G2 but she had to price adjust all of them for me. So she had to put each (3) of them in at .41 each. Still a great price!! I got 24 for $9.98. Great to add to our donation bucket.
They are in two locations in the store so keep your eyes peeled. There is a large blue display case filed the hot wheels and the are also hanging on an end cap at the end of the toy section.
I just got back from Dollar General here in the St. Louis area and they rang up at the $.14 price for me! Yay! There were plenty left in the store, in a big cardboard display case near an endcap.
I buy these for my prize box at school and usually pay .97/each. I can’t wait to see what they ring up at DG tomorrow!

i second this sentiment. no dg closeby here either… but I did pick up a 5 pack at TRU for $3. I thought that was great until I started seeing recent deals posted.

Just back from my Athens, AL DG. The cars, Hot Wheels and Matchbox, rang up $0.41 then took off an additional $0.27 or $0.28 from each one. Our town has 5 DG’s. I went to four of them and bought a total of 36 different cars (three of my stores had a large display with LOTS of cars on it). They came to a total of $4.92 plus tax. WooHoo…gonna have some happy little boys.
Just bout 33 cars for $4.92 metro east stl!!!! Cashier knew about the deal!!!! Was very excited!!!!

I just did this in reisterstown, md and I got 18 cars for $2.00. The sales person was great and opend up a brand new box of cars.
I was just coming on here to share this deal that we happened upon today. I took my boys to spend their own money on this deal before realizing that it was even less. They had each counted out their money out home ($1.33 with tax), went into the store to pick out one for themselves, one for a friend, and one to donate to charity – BIG decisions for my 4 & 7 year olds 😉 When my 7 year old went to pay, we were surprised to see that it was MUCH less than we had anticipated. They were thrilled to get change back. I hope it is still working in the morning so I can go back and buy a few for Christmas.

In Indiana, one DG store rang up the advertised price and another where they were 41c and then took off another 27c each. Wish both stores were on the same computer to get the better discount. Do you think it is a fluke?

Didn’t work in Kansas but still a good deal.
I tried two stores in Kansas City, KS. The first one rang up as advertised but I needed to purchase a few more cars and drove to the new store about 5 minutes away. Those all rang up at the lower price. This store new about the glitch and said they had reported it to the corp. office and were told to go ahead and sell them at the price it was ringing up until they could get it fixed. This store was also very helpful and pulled out new boxes for me to chose from. I am guessing it may be newer computer systems with the error. I tried to test at another new store on my way home but they were out of hot wheels.
My store (Hilliard, OH) charged me $4.65 for 6 cars…. I had to call the manager and price-adjusted and paid $2.60 for 6 cars (.50 cents donation fee included). Still a good deal, but a little disappointed.
