  Question about Planet Earth. My kids are 6, 4 & 3. The 3 yr old might not pay much attention but the other 2 (esp the 6 yr old) would. Anyone know if it’s appropriate for their ages?

  I have 6 year old twin boys. I feel like this is a good age to start planet earth (wonderful footage!). A few scenes have some predator type animal violence which could be upsetting to younger children. Even at 6 years old I feel I need to be watching it with them and explaining anything that might arise.

  Planet Earth is amazing. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’d buy it! Give it a go. If they don’t get into it now, hold onto it. Save it and try again after some time. You’re getting a great deal regardless. In my opinion, even if you have to wait a year of two, it’s still worth every penny. If you can’t wait because you want to watch it, then lead by example.

  I love the Planet Earth series, and my kids were 3 and 6 when they watched it. Here’s something to consider about the DVDs, though. They have a British voice narrating them rather than Sigourney Weaver, who does the TV version. This may make it more difficult to hold their attention. I tried watching one with an elderly friend of mine, and she asked me to turn it off because she couldn’t understand what was being said. 🙁

   My kids have been begging to get Arthur Christmas but I wasn’t about to pay $19.99 at Toys R Us yesterday. I told them we would get it on Redbox but, at this price, I picked it up along with Short Circuit 1 and 2! I remember those movies from when I was a kid and I’ve wanted my kiddos to see them and I have to run an errand by Best Buy today anyhow! Thanks.
