Colin, I have to tell you how you saved my day the other day. I went to pick up my son’s medication (he has epilepsy and having breakthrough seizures) and due to an insurance issue, one was over $600! Leaving the pharmacy in a daze, I went home to think about what to do. As I was taking a break of doing my research online, I read about this giveaway. It was exactly what I needed to cheer me up! There are good companies and good people out there! Everything is all sorted out (whew!) but I wanted to thank you for what you do and making it fun! Cheers!

First off — congrats to all of today’s winners! So happy for all of you!
Secondly — thanks for running this contest Colin! What a nice thing to do at this time of year!
Thirdly — I’m writing to offer a thought about tweaking this a tiny bit. I get that you want to drive traffic to Hip2Save and you want people to check the site frequently, but I think you could still drive a ton of traffic AND be thoughtful towards working people if you had DAILY deadlines to claim a prize instead of every two or three hours. I love your site and you provide such a great service for all of us trying to save money — thank you! I check your site multiple times a day, but I am unable to check it while I’m at work. I entered this contest and, frankly, was holding my breath when I got home from work and checked all the older posts to see who won. I was honestly THRILLED that my name wasn’t listed because I wouldn’t have claimed my prize — not because I don’t check your site daily, but just because I can’t check at work. However, within about five minutes of walking through the door I’m here and catching up on all the posts and I know I’ll check it again at least another five times before I go to bed (and probably 2-3 times before I leave for work in the morning). So — how about having a heart for readers who love your site, but just are unable to check it during certain times of day? Thanks in advance for considering!
I think part of the “fun” of the giveaway is that you have to be quick to claim it, and it keeps things running quickly. I’m a SAHM and still not home all day to check if I won or not, and that’s okay – it’s still fun to watch the contest and see everyone win 🙂

Last year you only had 1 hour to claim your prize this year its been 2 and 3 hours so far, so I would say she giving people more of a chance ! 🙂 good luck!
I’d actually have to agree with you Tracey!! The reason I’m on this site so much is to save money as we have such a tight budget and 2 babies in the house. So my husband and I only have basic phone with no internet so I can’t always get on multiple times throughout the day to keep checking for my name. I like the idea of having all day to claim the prize 🙂

I totally agree! Its cool but not fair to working parents that can’t check the site threw the day. I was lucky today cause we had no school because of the weather. I wish it was like from 5-10pm. That would be more fair. Just saying…
While I tend to agree (im a sahm of 2 little ones but like to focus on them throughout the day) I realize why the Hip crew has a time frame…they have a family too. If they were to do this late into the evening it wouldn’t be fair to their loved ones.
Hip2save doesn’t owe anyone anything…this is,a nice thing that they are doing. They can’t please everyone’s schedule. Just my opinion 🙂

Some of us (not saying you don’t) have to go to work all day, and cannot constantly check our cell phones or the computer. Yep, it’s real life lol I wish we could all be stay at home moms but it doesn’t work that way

I definitely agree with Tracy on this one. I for one don’t have a Smartphone & work til 3:30pm Monday Wednesday Thursday & Friday. Tuesday 12:30pm to 9pm so I am unable to check until I get home from work. But it is what is & if I am not able to check within the allowed time frame then I lose I guess. Oh well.
If you read Collin’s first post about this giveaway, one of the rules was “no complaining”!
Just remember that Collin is doing this out of the kindness of her heart! She doesn’t have to do this! We all save plenty of money with the deals that are posted, this is just an added bonus! HAGN!!! 😉

Really? Collin doesn’t have to give anything away here at all… she’s doing it to say thanks to all the people that use her site. It’s up to her how to do the giveaways and she already extended the amount of time. And daily deadlines would not drive a ton of traffic because people would just check at the end of the day. Besides, the giveaway is not about driving traffic its about giving back. I’m sure she gets plenty of traffic without the giveaway.

Again… it’s all about ‘heart’ that she’s giving out anything at all. Collin and her crew put in a lot of time here and save a lot of people money everyday. I understand full well that she may earn certain ‘click thru’ and ad placement rates…and she should. There is no ‘fee’ to the user here and she puts in a lot of effort everyday.
So, thank you Collin for this giveaway and every other one that you do. And thank you for all that you do on this site everyday. I have yet to win any prize in the couple years I’ve been on this site daily…but that’s ok… I appreciate the fact that the chance is there.

You know just because I am a stay at home mom, it does not make me have more time. I am not on the computer 24-7 and I try to make the deadlines but it doesnt always work that way. This is a bonus and we can not complain about it. So Thanks Colin for the opportunity to win.
I was thinking the same thing about us being at work. I’m having to sneak in the bathroom to check the site on my phone. I enjoy hip2 save tremendously, but it is no fun to me when I’m sneaking away to see if I won anything. If I see another contest like this one I definitely will have to pass.:( Although I do not win anything I thought I was going to give it a try. At my job I’m not allowed to use the company computer for personal use or use our personal phone what a bummer.:( It was fun while it lasted. Just my luck i’ll probably win something and I can’t get to my phone fast enough.

I respect that everyone is posting their opinion, but also have to wonder that the response of many is: “if you don’t like it, don’t play”. Have you never questioned anything and tried to make it better? I’m not intending to be a jerk by saying this, I’m just a little astounded that people seem really offended by my even proposing something (and done in a nice way and first thanking Colin). In response to those who say “why even register?” — I registered because there ARE days when I can check my computer all throughout the day. Maybe I’ll get lucky and have my name selected during one of those times. Aside from myself, I’m sure that there are many of us on here who work (or are SAHM and perhaps too busy for the computer during the day) and that it would benefit many people. You’re still having to check daily — just a little broader of a window. (And I certainly don’t want to take family time away from Colin and helpers, but as other deals are posted throughout the evening, it does seem that SOME people are monitoring the site during evening hours.) As for saying don’t come to the site because you might miss a deal — first of all, most of the deals don’t require that you catch them within a 2-3 hour window (some, of course, but not all or even a majority) and secondly, there’s a difference between not being able to take advantage of a deal that Colin has no control over the deadline of and proposing that she adjust the deadline on something that she DOES control. Do you see the difference?
Feeling a little sad and disheartened that something that was posted nicely and simply as a suggestion is being attacked by so many. 🙁

I don’t think anyone is attacking you. But this is collins website and she and her crew work very hard every day to bring all of us fantastic deals. There are times when I can’t check the site every hour or even every 3 hours but it is what it is. Like I said before..there is no way to please everyone’s schedule.
