Hi lacy! I started eating organic (although not 100% of the time) close to a year ago. I would recommend starting with animal products (meat, eggs, milk, cheese, etc.). I also try to purchase the dirty 12 produce items organic (you can find this list online) as well as nuts. The chemicals that are sprayed on plants get stored in fat cells so nuts tend to hold a lot of those chemicals. That’s another reason to purchase organic animal products. Also, I almost refuse to purchase anything that has nonorganic soy or nonorganic corn because of genetic modification that is so rampant in the soy and corn industries.
Every once in a while, the organic stores near me will have one day sales on organic meats. They are still slightly more than what you are probably used to paying, but you can usually purchase enough for several meals and freeze it. There are coupons out there for organic products too. Whole foods (if you have one near you) has their own coupon book they put out every other month that often has good coupons in it. I hope that helps at least a little bit. Best wishes to you!
