As most of you know, 9/16/12, was the start of the new Walgreens Balance Rewards Program! Even sweeter, on 5/5/13, they started a new point system in which you can redeem your points once you reach just 1,000 points. Please head here to read all about it.

A few weeks ago I bought BOGOF SpeedStick and used a BOGOF coupon. The coupon scanned and took off only half of the price, allocating $1.60 to each one. I’m afraid this will happen tomorrow with the Dial. The coupon policy does not specifically set out how much money the BOGOF coupon should take off. Anybody have anything from corporate to clarify?
i think the amount a bogo coupon takes off depends on how it was rung up. I bought some Tone tonight and she rang them up as “quantity 6” and my coupon only took off $2.50. She voided that and rang all 6 up individually. Then my coupon took off $4.99.
The coupon I am talking about is the buy 2 get 1 free. If you pair that with the early activation it is a great deal! Only works tonight though because the coupon expires today.
I had the same problem with the speed stick coupon. The cashier rang them up as 6 quantity.
I knew it was wrong and got the manager. He voided it out and rang up each one and the coupons worked no problem.
I don’t have that coupon in front of me, but when you use a BOGO free coupon, there is a maximum amount listed on the coupon. So, if your coupon has a maximum amount of $2.99 and your item is $3.50, the $2.99 should be deducted, leaving you with an out of pocket balance of $0.51. If the register does not cover the entire price of the item and it should have, if you mention it to the cashier, they should input the amount manually. I hope that makes sense!
Have clerk ring up each item separately to avoid the problem that you had with speed stick coupon. I had it happen to me and made them fix it in the store.
If you look at the ad, there is also a RR for nasacort. When you buy 120 sprays you get $4 RR and $2 RR for 60 sprays!
I was in Walgreens this week and was using coupons I had printed on the back of some of my kids old school papers. The cashier said they weren’t supposed to take them because they had writing on the back,which of course makes no sense since even coupons from inserts have printing on the back! I print on old papers all the time. Anyone else ever have this problem before?
I never have problems I always do that to save paper maybe you should explain that the manufacturer is still reimbursing the store.
I would ask her to show you where that is printed in the corporate couponing policy.
BTW: I have one with me all the time…and it’s also printed on paper with something else printed on the back.

I had them tell me that at Rite Aid once. What the heck difference does it make what’s on the back of the coupon? It still scans, the front is intact, and I don’t see why it’d make a difference to the manufacturer. I always print my coupons on the back of used paper!

My Walgreens was out of the training pants that are on sale, but I found them online. Does anybody know of a way to apply the Walgreens February coupon book coupon for the W brand training pants to an online purchase? Or is it valid in-store only? TIA! 🙂
You can ask for a rain check. I know the stores vary widely on this, but my store says they never expire, and they will allow up to a quantity of 20 for any item. I have had some stores mark rain checks at the coupon price so it could be used after the in-ad flyer coupon expired without problem. My local store will pre-sell an item they are out of in order to get the sale into the system and accept your coupon prior to expiration. They then issue you a rain check marked “SOLD” and”PAID” and you have your receipt of proof of payment, both of which your present when the items come in. I have been told they do this b/c they cannot order items into store on demand, but once they are sold, they will automatically be ordered. Try speaking to your store manager or calling customer service.
Can I use coupons on register rewards? For instance there is $3 in register rewards on purchasing 2 colgate fresh toothpaste or toothbrushes. Can I use a manufactures coupon and still get the register rewards?

Yes you can. You can even use a Register Rewards as long as its NOT from the same company and the Register Rewards will still print. That’s called rolling. Walgreens does have a rule that you can’t have more coupons than items in your transaction and they count the Register Rewards as coupons. So if you have two coupons for Colgate and a Register Reward, that’s 3 coupons and 2 items. You would need to add a third item in order to use the Register Reward. That’s what people mean by “filler items”. They’re cheap items that you add to your order to be able to use the extra coupons.

For the Reynolds wrap there’s a 1/1 coupon also came in newspaper and if you guys got the Pfizer 6 mail in rebate coupon the spend 15 get 3000 reward points is a better deal. The Advil, robitussin, dimetapp is included.
I haven’t couponed in over a year… Mostly because it was time consuming to collect the coupons and follow the deals and then I would go to the store to find the shelf empty. For some reason I mistakenly gave it a shot today. I found 2 deals for things I use and didn’t require searching and clipping since they were printable coupons. I got to walgreens and was shocked the shelf was full for both items. Excited I thought I might start couponimg again if it were this easy! Then my bubble burst. I sat in line forever while the cashier slowly rang up a long line of people (and I saw a manager , an assistant manager and clerk all on the floor …none who came to help ring up customers). When I finally got to the front of the line the cashier told me they can’t take any coupons because of system problems, so I left empty-handed and again frustrated at how hard it is to coupon!!!
Sorry to hear that’s terrible. Yep it’s time consuming so I concentrate on things we will use within a few month and no longer go for other deals only because they are free or cheap… Still, the gathering coupon and shopping multiple stores takes so much time!
