Just in time for a traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal… corned beef & cabbage!

Here’s how I make cabbage now…I cut it into large chunks and separate the leaves. Drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper and roast on a baking sheet in a 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes. Comes out wonderfully yummy and sweet.

And the best part–no funky cabbage smell in the house 😉

Is there any way to freeze cabbage or preserve it somehow? I’m planning to stock up as cabbage is on sale everywhere for super cheap because of the St.Patrick’s Day sale!!

I chop it up with my food processor and put it in plastic freezer bags, then throw in the freezer. I can then take it out and use as much or as little as I want.

I saw on Dr. Oz how to make cabbage steaks. Cut whole cabbage into 1/2 inch slices drizzle with olive oil, salt, pepper, and whatever else you like. Probably similar tasting to what Bunny posted above. Except I think you have to cook these longer. Can’t wait to try!

It’s delicious cooked on the grill like that also!

Jennifer…on the Dr. Oz show, was it cooked in a skillet or in the oven? Curious about the cooking method…I like the “steak” idea though 😉

Wow and I just bought some this morning before I saw this! I’ve got to remember to check savings star every Tuesday morning and thanks for the reminder!
P.S. you might look for freezer slaw recipes to use up any extra cabbage.

I like to add cabbage to minestrone soup, or make vegetable lo mein.
