Or, as I’ve mentioned previously, if you’d like to snag an inexpensive deal on pregnancy tests, you may want to head to your local Walmart where you can find the First Signal 1ct Pregnancy Tests for just $0.88! This is a HUGE discount compared to the name-brand pregnancy tests which range in price from $3.50-$5 per test!

Would just like to say that the first signal tests sold at Walmart for 88 cents work just as well as any expensive brand. I actually never knew that Walmart had tests for such a low price, but was planning on splurging this past weekend in order to avoid a trip to my local dollar store. I was so excited to find that they not only had a cheap brand, but for 12 cents less than the dollar store! They worked great and I’m excited to say I am going to be a first time mommy!

      Congratulations!

      Congratulations!!!!

Thank you both so much! Very excited to be heading my first ultrasound today!! 🙂

    • Crystal

Congrats!! I’ve never used the Walmart pregnancy test before but when I had my 2 kiddos I always bought the tests from the dollar tree. They work great and both times gave me the + results I wanted 🙂

    • Amy A

      Congratulations!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      CONGRATULATIONS!! 😀

      • Whitney

I too used it last week and it was positive! But I’m having some concerning symptoms today and would appreciate some prayers. Brown spotting and I’m nervous!

        • emiliekoch

I’m so sorry to hear that Whitney. I would call your doctor ASAP. Will be praying for you and your baby. <3

        • shalini

I’ll keep you in my prayers Whitney! Congratulations to you and Emiliekoch!

        • Stephanie

Just to ease your mind…I too did that with my first child. The doctor told me that was very normal. It is the bright red color you need to worry about. Brown spotting can happen when the egg attaches to the uterine wall or any number of things. So, I hope that eases your mind. Also, congrats to you and Emiliekoch!

          • Yolande

Same happened to me with my first pregnancy. I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time, I thought I had a very light period. Took a pregnancy test two weeks later after having continuous nausea. Turned out I was pregnant. Dr told me the same re spotting around time of implantation.

        • Shannon

Whitney- could very well be implantation bleeding. Try not to stress but I know it’s hard.

        • Amanda

Stephanie is right about the implantation spotting, very common. A lot of women mistake it for a period. Even with bright red blood it generally has to be heavy enough to soak a pad an hour for them to be concerned. I had a lot of bleeding with my first, sometimes you have to go on “cervical rest” (which stinks when those awesome pregnancy hormones are not wanting you to rest, lol) if something is just irritated. Sending good thoughts your way…

          • MJ

Yes, all these ladies are right. I have 3 boys and in both of my pregnancies (obviously one was a twin pregnancy) I had some spotting. The doctor reassured me it’s just implantation bleeding and happens to lots of women. Congrats, ladies. It’s a crazy, beautiful ride. 🙂

      Congratulations!!

      Congrats!!

The Walmart First Signal tests give false positives. A LOT of them. I speak from multiple experiences.

    • melhauer

The Dollar Tree tests, however, have always been 100% accurate, both ways.

    • Jen

False positives area very very rare with any HCG test. False negatives are more common usually due to being too early to detect the growing HCG levels.

Also for those TCC, you can buy 20 HCG test strips on amazon for less than $8. It’s just the strip but works the same. I loved not stressing about going and buying. Test when a had so many on hand. If there. If I had any question I just took one!

      • visitor3

Agreed. A false positive could be an initial accurate positive, followed by a very early miscarriage. Personal experience, sigh.

  3. Sarah

I have bought those types of pregnancy test from my local dollar stores as well and they are accurate!

  4. Arielle

Love the 88 cents walmart tests!! Told me when I was pregnant with my daughter and she is now 5 months!!

  5. Nicole

I have had 6 pregnancies and all were discovered with the 1$ tests from the dollar store =)

  6. Maria

I second dollar tree preggo tests! I just found out I’m pregnant this month after trying for almost 4 years. I even took three tests just to be sure that I was and my doctor confirmed it 🙂 🙂

    • Brittany

      Congrats! So happy for you!

  7. Jordan Osgood (@jordanlynn_13)

don’t use the clear blue tests with dye (the digital are okay!) they give a lot of people false positives!

    • J

I’ve heard this too, but it’s not just the Clear Blue brand. The tests that use a blue dye can easily be misread as a positive when it’s not because you can sometimes get dye run lines. If you’re ever unsure you could always follow up with a digital one (though they tend to not be as accurate in very early pregnancy), or use a test that uses pink dye because there’s less of dye run lines.

  8. emiliekoch

Wow Nicole that’s wonderful! Supermom! Thank you to everyone for your kind words. Making me cry tears of joy!!

  9. ashley

The bulk packs of test strips sold on amazon and ebay worked really well for me when ttc my children as well as the dollar store tests. Strangely the only tests that I have ever had false positive results on were the expensive First Response brand tests.

  10. Heather C.

The .88 test from Walart is how I found out I was expecting my 4th daughter (I’m 36w4d today… C-section is scheduled for 4.16.14! I can’t WAIT!!) It actually showed up positive a few days before I thought I’d even be able to test positive. I highly recommend! 🙂

  11. Holly

Oh man, where were you on Tuesday with these coupons! : ) We just found out we are expecting our 3rd!

  12. Mela

The Dollar Tree test is how I found I was expecting my now 3 month old 🙂

We used Dollar Store tests, and they were negative when I wasn’t pregnant, and I had 2 positive results a week apart! I’m going for my first OB appointment tomorrow. So excited!!!

  14. MJ

Also, I have friends who are nurses in OB/GYN clinics and hospitals. They’ve all told me that the tests that are from Dollar Tree are pretty much what hospitals and clinics use. No need to buy expensive tests 🙂

  15. Renee

Blue Cross covers all of my lab tests.

  16. brandice

Big Lots has tests for $1 AND YES they work

  17. jlee

$tree tests worked fine for me as long as you wait to test at the right time, otherwise too early will not detect the hormones.

  18. Kristine

I’ve used the dollar store tests on 5 out of 8 of my pregnancies, and they were accurate every time. I kept a little stash ready since we were always hoping (and trying, lol!). Highly recommended!

  19. jessika

I want a baby so bad:( baby blues are the worst.

  20. Katy

I used an 88 cent test to find out if I was pregnant with my now 1.5 year old and recently a dollar tree test to find out about my current pregnancy.

  21. Karla

I did the $1 store one and it worked great, didn’t even realize that Wal-Mart had $0.88 ones! Although there is something to be said for seeing the word “PREGNANT” show up on the digital one. I bought one just to see it! 🙂

  22. Kristen

The “Wondfo” brand from Amazon are the best. Super cheap, though as I think someone mentioned above they’re just the strip, not the plastic casing. If you tend to test early, though, they are somewhat notorious for “evaporation” lines so I would want to follow up with a more expensive test if it’s questionable.
If you’re trying for a long time the cost of tests really adds up! (I know from experience 😉 )

  23. Nikki

I am 6 months pregnant now and never tracked ovulation before. This is good a few years from now but if I get it now it will just expire. The pregnancy test I took back in October expires in September.

  24. Faith

I just go to my health department and have them test me. It is free!!! Plus, my OB requires a positive test taken by them to even see me.

  25. Dawn

I found out I was expecting on one (okay, FIVE) of those .88 cent test…

  26. Raji

    Hi All,
Can anyone pls suggest me the best ovulation testing kit?

  27. Anna Steve

I have. I bought mine about a year before I was TTC so that I could make sure that I was ovulating regularly. Each morning you pee on a stick and place it in the machine. The machine will then give you one of three readings – low, medium or high. If you have a low reading, it is unlikely that you will get pregnant. You will get the medium reading in the days before and after ovulation and high reading at ovulation. I love the online tool like https://calculator-online.net/ovulation-calculator/.
