This is kind of a general question but my husband I are buying a house and need dishes/silverware/glassware. I need to hold it in person before purchase so the Oneida online sales won’t work. I’ve been looking at Macy’s, Fred Meyer and Kohls…who has bought a whole kitchen set and what deal did you get?
Depends what brand you want. I have done well at the Lenox outlet, Oneida outlet. I’ve done really well at Tuesday Morning, even Marshalls & TJMaxx, if you are flexible on what you might like. BB&B has a good line of products and has a great return policy.
I bought a whole set of dishes from Kohls before. I was single and needed something just to get by for a while. They were fine for a couple of year but then started getting discolored, scrapes from knives were showing, etc. They also started breaking very easily. If you can, it’s better to go with something a little higher end in the dishes department unless you are okay with replacing in a couple of years. We registered at Crate and Barrel when we got married and I got a set of Calphalon pots and pans. I had always heard they were great. Not so much! I’ve been replacing each pan piece by piece and have found that finding a good quality pan that meets my specific needs is better than buying a whole set. Now they don’t match but I have exactly what I need in regards to size, lids, etc. I’ve been buying Bobby Flay, etc. from Kohls and they have been wonderful! Good luck!
