Apple stores are once again hosting Apple Camp for kids ages 8-12 throughout this summer. This FREE camp lasts 1 1/2 hours per day on 3 separate days and is available at Apple Retail Stores throughout the country.

[h2s_box]Apple Camp is a place where kids will bring their imaginations to life. They’ll learn to make movies by storyboarding ideas, shooting video, and creating an original soundtrack. Or, starting this summer, campers can create interactive books complete with their own illustrations and sound effects. [/h2s_box]

Keep in mind that space is limited and workshops fill up quickly, so head on over here and sign your kids up now! Just select your state and store and you will then be able to select the week you would like to sign up for (each child is limited to no more than one Apple Camp workshop). Please note that a parent must stay with your child(ren) during Apple Camp.

Genius marketing…the cult wants to get them hooked early

Uh, no thanks! I care too much about my kids!

    • Laura

I actually think these workshops are a great idea. Just sad my son is to old to attend. We are a family that LOVE Apple products!

  3. Amy

I consider electronics an important part of my children’s education. These workshops require parents to attend with their children and are teaching them valuable skills. Just this year my son was assigned a video tutorial (How to) project. He had to make a video and present it to his class. Thank you Collin both of my kids are signed up!!

  4. Tanique E

    Darn all mine are full.

    • Deb

Don’t know if kids’ classes are like the adult workshops, but so many people fail to show up for the adult ones that you can usually just walk-in.

        Thxs Deb
I was put on a wait list. I checked all 6 of my area locations.

        • Deb

Tanique, where do you live that is large enough to have 6 Apple stores? I live in a major metropolitan area and we only have 2!

          • Evans

Deb, I’m in the Houston area.

Signed up for these yesterday. My kids did the movie one 3 summers ago and it was fantastic. They had a ball making a movie in the mall and “hiring” actors to be in their movie. So fun for them—and free!

Signed up for the other one (storytelling) to see what it is like. The others were all full already :(.

As someone who works in the Tech Industry I think its vital, for their future, for kids to learn the inner workings of Technology as soon as possible. If you think about it, we learned to type in school because that was the future…then. I know a lot of parents don’t want there kids to play on iPads and such, but their future will be all computers. Even if you want your child to be a doctor… it will be a Tech-Type hospital (that’s just the reality of our future). Just my 2 cents. Thank you Collin, as always, for the great deals!

    • Jen

Excellent point, Ana! I agree that children need exposure to this kind of technology to prepare them for the future. Unfortunately, all of our area stores are full, so we’ll be trying again next summer ๐Ÿ™‚

      • mel

        I so Agree Ana!

Jen, the stories in motion was filled for our store, but when I clicked the box for the ibook, there was plenty of dates available, so be sure to click the other box!

    • summer

      I agree. Technology knowledge is a necessity….like I said, genius marketing on Apple’s part…

  7. Nicole

Do you have to own an Apple product to participate?

    • Laura

I would think – as they aren’t going to teach you on a product they don’t sell.

      • mel

        What to Bring
Bring a digital camera or digital video camera if you’re coming to the Stories in Motion with iMovie workshop. If you don’t have your own, we can provide one.

  8. JA

I wish there was one close to me. My kids are always doing Power Points, iMovies, stuff like that at school. They would love this!

    • Deb

Check with your local library system. Ours has a whole technology center and offers these same sorts of classes free of charge, as well as the services of trainers who can help you with special projects.

  9. Janet

Last year my son attended this for the first time. He made his own movie and was ecstatic to show off his work! All camps in our area are totally full this year. I wish they’d find a way to offer more of these since they are filling up so fast!

  10. Hilary

Thank you!! Got out daughter into the “Interactive Storytelling” workshop. This will be an amazing enrichment activity this summer. As an educator and a parent, I need to emphasis the word ENRICHMENT! Technology is an amazing thing, but should never take the place of primary learning. It’s just another tool in the toolbox!

Darn…too late. How do you find out about these camps earlier enough to sign up the kids? I am always a day late and a dollar short. ๐Ÿ™
