My little one was colic and I lost milk πŸ™ so we bought gerber soothe. After 2 days of using formula her cried a lot less and sleeped a lot more. I have to say that it helped my baby.

  5. Amanda

Thanks got it. I have a question. I’m due with my kid on Dec 15. Are there any really good discounts offered on baby items ( strollers, cribs, car seats clothes etc) during thanksgiving Black Friday and should I wait for these . If yes which store gives good discounts and on what items. I’m on a budget. Or would u advice me to just go ahead and purchase stuff now. Pls advice moms

I prepared last year for my daughter who was born in April by stocking up whenever there were awesome weekly deals on diapers at the drugstores as well as hitting up Babies/Toys R Us on Black Fri (awesome diaper & wipe deals, baby laundry detergent, diaper genie refills…look through the ad they release bc depending in your needs there are deals to be had). Also I recommend buying your larger items gently used (pack n play, co-sleeper/ crib, etc) possibly from a children’s consignment store but go new for your car seat & stroller bc these will be used quite a bit plus you want to ensure safety. My sweet girl is almost 4 months but we haven’t even put a dent in our diaper stock pile and by couponing I was able to rack up on just about everything else she has possibly needed which means no last minute/ midnight trips out to get anything!! Hope this was helpful & good luck with baby…start now!

I agree with the above poster, start stocking up on some of the weekly deals that come up, that way you are just spending a little at a time. Then hit up the big regional consignment sales (just between friends for example) for clothes, bath tub, toys and more, you can get some awesome deals! Good luck to you!

How are formula expiration dates? The baby isn’t due until December. Would the formula be any good?

    • amy

      It should be good.

    • Stacey

Usually it will be 1-2 years.

Question . I’m due dec15 Are there any good discounts or deal offered on baby items ( esp stroller, car seat , crib, clothes etc) during thanksgiving Black Friday and if yes on what baby items and in which specific stores. I am on a budget . Is it worth waiting till Black Friday for deals or should I just go ahead now and buy them as prices don’t vary much Pls advice all moms

    • Wendy

I say, if you see any great deals now, buy it now. There is no guarantee there will be deals later.. For the essentials that are must haves when the baby is born, you don’t want to be caught without it just because you wanted to see if you can get a better deal.

Also check return policies… If you find a better deal within that timeframe, you can alwAys return it!

      • Carketa

Oh yes, I agree we stood in line for a couple of hours (I was 4 mos preg) which was no fun! Annnnnd it was cold…not that many of the baby deals were as popular as the XBox One or PlayStation 4 that had just been released, but I think even if you’d gotten there after the first “huddle” of people had gotten through the door chances of finding the on sale baby items were pretty high although that may vary by store of course. One other thing, Toys R Us had the same specials avail online like that Wed or Thurs before Black Fri so go online & do as much as you can. I think it starts at 6am but you might want to be posted and ready to shop at 545am bc the stuff sold out faster than you could add it to your cart!!

    • Amy

Hey Amanda. The prices at BRU can be deeply discounted on Black Friday, but you often have to be up very early for the “amazing” offers. Sometimes buying things when on a great sale in the summer is a better deal (and way less stressful) than going out Black Friday. Something else to consider is buying used. New moms tend to want all new items, but each baby is different and while people might swear to you that a $150 carrier may change your world, your baby may hate it and that’s money down the drain.

I just had a baby and also on a budget. I was able to stock up on several sizes of diapers using Collin’s site. I use the free kmart points to purchase wipes for free or very close to. If you have any family or friends who have recently had a baby, see if they would give you things they no longer need. If you start stocking up now it won’t be so overwhelming when your little one gets here. Good luck!

    • J

Don’t forget that if you wait till Black Friday to shop that you’ll be nearly 9 months pregnant. I know when I was nearly due the last thing I wanted to do was go out on an extended shopping trip & as someone else pointed out Black Friday shopping can be rather stressful! I’d do as someone else suggested & buy when you see a great deal. Also start stocking up on diapers when there are good deals like when the target deals come out. Buy clothes at the end of the season & have them on hand for the next year, and/or buy at consignment shops. You can also buy some baby furniture, stroller, etc from consignment, but make sure you buy your car seat new. Also make sure to check recall lists before buying used. Items like baby swings tend to be used for such a short time that you can usually find something like that used but still in great shape. Also, do ‘t forget to sign up for Similac & Enfamil, etc for formula checks & samples if u plan to formula feed. Good luck & congrats!
