Have you heard about Walmart’s new Savings Catcher program? It’s now available nationwide!

Savings Catcher compares your receipt to advertised prices from top stores in your area, and if it finds a lower advertised price, you get the difference on a Walmart eGift Card – all you have to do is enter your receipt and then Walmart does the rest of the work for you.

Thanks, I just started doing this in central fl. Im so excited

  2. Laura

But the catch is – it has to be an advertised price. So of something is normally cheaper at target, that doesn’t count.

    • Denise

you have nothing to lose though because if you have already purchased it — it is good to check and see if maybe there was a cheaper price you were not aware of. I am in Central Florida and I price match Publix and Winn Dixie at Walmart, I have entered 3 receipts so far and have gotten $$ back on all of them so far — YAY!!

    • Michelle

Ad matching is matching prices to the weekly ad, not matching stores everyday prices, or it would not be called AD MATCHING.

  3. Noelle

I did my first one and got $7.80 back. Not bad for just entering a receipt number! 🙂

  4. Bob

Thanks for posting this…I’ve entered a few receipts and have received $2 back so far, it’s slowly adding up. 🙂

  5. shannon

have submitted 3 receipts so far and gotten nothing back> Not impressed yet. But I usually only get price matches at Walmart so maybe that’s why

    • Amy Mac

Yeah, I have only gotten back $.66 but stores around here have high prices and generally can’t compete with WM.

  6. Shalini

Does this work for fresh produce?

    • Amanda

Yeah it does, I got a couple dollars back for potatoes and bananas

      • shalini

        Awesome.. Thank you Amanda. 🙂

  7. Deb

To me, this represents a game-changer; a new way to use technology that may result in higher customer satisfaction and increased sales. I am not creative enough to imagine the use of tech in such a manner, but I’m glad that someone is. This has potential to save consumers a lot of money. (Oh, and BTW, I do not shop at Walmart as a general rule.)

  8. Dprice

How long will they allow you to keep money in account. I was thinking about not cashing in until Christmas time or Black Friday

    • Morna

If you don’t use it by the end of the year it automatically rolls into an e-giftcard, so you don’t lose any value.

  9. Mary Christopherson

Can you do a receipt code on your computer by entering it oor does it have to be thru your phone?

    • Morna

I did my first through the computer, I’m still waiting for my results.

    • Amanda

You can do it on the webpage, just google walmart savings catcher and it’ll pop up. The webpage is at the bottom of the receipt too I do believe.

    • Kat

you can also enter it on your comp. I just did it that way =)

    • Renee

Yes you can. That’s the only way I’ll do it.

      • ashley

You can do it from the Wal-mart app too. You just scan the bar code on receipt and its done!

  10. maxx

Dont forget to ask family and friends if they are not going to do, also pick up receipts in the parking lot and enter, I made over 10.00 and helping to clean up, lol

    • Kelli

      Oh SWEET!

    • Renee

Thanks for the tip!! No one else I know is going to bother with this…….but I will!

    • MiisVegas

Thank you! This is a GREAT tip!!!

Keep in mind your are allowed a MAXIMUM of 7 Receipts per Week. (You may be able to circumvent this using a spouse or significant other’s account?) And a Receipt is only valid for 7 Days. (Example: Buy on Thursday, you have to upload your receipt by Wednesday.) I read the FAQ’s and wanted to point this out, as your tip to help clean-up is great!

  11. Kelli

If you download the Walmart app onto your phone you can just scan your receipt and the work is done. No need to worry about losing receipts and waiting to get home. As of now, they don’t price compare toys or electronics on the savings catcher.

  12. Cannielle

Remember the FRES TGI snack offer weeks ago? I got an email earlier, yea, an IP freebie, bummer!

    • Ashley57

If you print it, it is not for a “free” item, but 2.98 off. This makes me think it will still work at places that do not accept free IP coupons.

  13. Brenna

I live in a rural town with several grocery stores – this new feature doesn’t recognize those stores – only major retailers like Walgreens……

  14. Jill

I live in one of the beta test cities and have been using savings catcher for a few months at least. I love that it saves me from running to stores for good deals on just a couple items!

  15. Lisa

I got $.61 my first time. I can see wherever will start adding up as much as we shop at Walmart.

  16. sondra

i entered a receipt number a few days ago and it came back that it was invalid

  17. Sue

I spent $180 at Walmart and received $16 back! Love this new program!! I’m impressed.

  18. Michelle

I entered 4 receipts so far, i got 98 cents and 72 cents. Still im happy its money i wouldnt have had

  19. Karen

    Where do we sign up?

    • Anne

      Click on Savings Catcher above.

  20. Mary

I entered 1 recepit so far and it caught a few items I didn’t even realize was on sale at another store and missed the ones that I knew were a better price at my local pick n save. Will have to make sure that I price match what I know is on sale and use it to double check the other items I purchase.

  21. Dana

I have been doing this for a few months now and with just entering my biweekly grocery receipts we have collected $32, which I plan on just using for Christmas and such. Easy way to save up for Christmas just doing what we already buy

  22. Kathy

I love this! If it saves me money I’m in!

  23. emily

I don’t shop at Walmart much because they are far from me. But, will have to show my mom how to because that is her favorite store.

  24. ~jenn~

Walmart has been pouring big money into this program and probably will continue to. One of the apps I use has been asking users to pick up particular paper circulars from the requested store and then go buy specific items at Walmart that are listed in the paper ad. Once you uploaded the receipt the app was reimbursing your purchases.
I do shop at Walmart on occasion but never if I’m in a hurry. If I can pay $5.00 more somewhere else (like a locally owned business) that has 1/2 the stress and saves me 20 minutes, to me it’s worth it. My blood pressure will thank me for it and I’d rather spend those 20 minutes with my family or with a glass of wine and a good book. There’s just some things you can’t put a price on….even if you are Walmart.

    • Kelli

Jenn- I know exactly which app you are speaking of and I wouldn’t have named it either! Lol. 😉

      • Amy Mac

Thanks to you both. if you aren’t going to share then just don’t say anything.

    • anne

      Please share 😉

  25. Trish

Entered 4 receipts so far and nothing yet but sure wish this came out sooner…thinking about how many times a week for 9 years that I have been shopping at Walmart I could have been a millionaire by now! lol

  26. Heather

    what about bogo items?

    • shannon

I have done this a few times and was surprised to find out that the full price item (eg 2 packs of crackers =$2.50) often has a lower price found. Since the 2nd item is priced at $0, there is never a lower price found.

  27. tigerjen77

Does this work on BOGO sales as well or do we still price match those at the register?

    • Ashley57

You still have to price match bogo.

      • Vanessa

Today at Walmart when we price matched some BOGOs at the counter, they rang them up differently then in the past. Usually, they scan the first item through at their regular price and the second item at 0.00. However, today, they split the cost between the two items. For example, items that normally cost $1 and were BOGO rang up at 0.50 and 0.50 rather than 1.00 and 0.00. Another item that is normally 2.54, they rang up as 2.00 and 0.54 rather than 2.54 and 0.00. I’m wondering if this is a way for them to work around having to give us rebates through Savings Catcher on these items by making it appear as though the prices are lower. Has anyone else noticed this when price matching bogos?

  28. maflies1

Is there a way to find out what stores in your area the program is comparing to? Have read, but cannot find that info. Thanks much.

  29. Kim

I just got back $9.25 on ONE receipt. I’m up to $12.12 so far since starting the program.

  30. Caitlin

Hope I’m able to accumulate something, but the likelihood of me getting much of anything back is slim to none. I very rarely shop at Walmart, and when I do, it’s almost always running in to grab very cheap/free deals, like the Minute Maid, Smithfield bacon, a Suave offer I received from Mypoints, and the high value Ibotta deals.

  31. Judy

Downloaded the app, scanned two receipts, both say “ineligible.” Typical Walmart. Which is why I avoid it if I can. Not worth the time to download the app in my opinion. Will try it a few more times and then delete it from my phone if it doesn’t work.

  32. Alv

I received $5.28 in price differences. Awesome!!!

  33. PAK

The terms and conditions state: You may only submit receipts through the Walmart Savings Catcher for purchases that YOU have made. So, technically, entering found or other people’s is a violation.

  34. paula

Can someone help me I have entered 4 receipts on the WSC where I have matched advertised prices at stores in the area but… The results show Walmart’s prices to be the prices I matched. For instance Randall’s Gatorade price .69 it shows their price is .69 at Walmart when it is .94 on the shelf. The same on all my other items. They price matched it and post the new price as their price. Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

  35. Kathleen M Smith

I got back $2.53 on my first test, would have gotten a lot more if I had not price matched at the register for bigger savings items. A regional store was not on competors list (2 items $1.21 savings), I used the contact form to ask about it. It missed .50 cents saving at one of the Dollar stores (2/$5 in ad, I got 1) and used contact form to see if they would add savings, store was on the drop down menu. Expected another dollar, but the item was not advertised, just cheaper at another store. I will continue to price match at the register for those stores not included and bigger savings or complicated ones. Walmart is very close to me, so it saves gas and having to go to multiple stores.

  36. Toni Johnson

I tried to download the free app on my iphone but it asked for payment information – including the security code on the back of my card.

  37. jenn

What happens on black friday will it scan those ads for a lower price and you get the money back?

  38. Spunky

I like using this new app but I cannot figure out how to delete them after I have or have not gone any money back. I have an iPhone 5 s if any one can help me, I would be grateful! BTW I am up to $6.82!!

  39. Beth

Can you apply this to online purchases or only those made in the store?

  40. TS

I started this not to long ago and have about $30 in my account. So easy and takes no time at all to get money back! I love it 🙂

    • TS

And don’t get discouraged if you submitted a few receipts and have gotten nothing because that happens. I’ve had 3 or 4 with nmothing then suddenly 2 or 3 in a row with money back 🙂

  41. Eloise Cummins

How do I delete old receipts?

  42. Mary Ann

How do I delete old receipts?

  43. Glenda

I’ve paid for Christmas with my saving catcher and it’s so convenient. 2 of my grandkids live out of town and I was able to purchase them there gifts on line through my savings catchers app and they could pick it up at their store. Didn’t have to pay for shipping or I didn’t have to worry about shipping or someone stealing it.
