    Loooove this!!!

Great product. I used to own one in college but ruined it (or maybe I didn’t?) coz I didn’t know cast iron pans need to be “seasoned”. 😛

I got the Lodge brand 12″ from Ace Hardware when they had the black Friday 50% off coupon. 🙂 Will get more Lodge stuff when that coupon becomes available again.

Can you use this on a glass top stove?

    • Jenny

Yes, just try to pick it up when moving it instead of sliding it to reduce the chance of scratching the glass.

I have some old cast iron pans that have gotten rusty. I was reading about using a potato and salt to remove the rust, then oil and low heat to restore it.
Anyone try that method with success?

    • Lana

That will work and then I would use it for foods with a good amount of fat like bacon for the first few uses and keep them oiled after every use. They will come back to usefulness.

        Thanks Lana.

I didn’t know how to clean or re-season either but Martha Stewart has a short video on You Tube that was really helpful and straight to the point. Try searching for “seasoning a cast iron.”

Would you recommend getting the 10 inch or going a little bigger like a 12 inch for 2 adults and 2 small kids? Basically looking to use to make cornbread, bacon, chicken and some other things. Just want to be sure it is a decent size to make a small meal in. TIA

    • irene

LOVE my cast iron pan! For four people, definitely go with 12″. For cornbread, 10″ is best.

    Love mine like this!

Great timing! Just yesterday I received an email from Chilli’s showing a photo of a dessert made in a cast iron pan that motivated me do a search for the recipe: Skillet Toffee Fudge Brownies. I found a plethora of recipes showing things made in a skillet!

    • nicolegammeter

There are so many great recipes out there! Enjoy the brownies! 🙂

I LOVE my cast iron! I bought my Lodge skillet on Amazon a few months ago and use it almost every night. I love to sear chicken in it on my glass stovetop and then I put the whole skillet into the oven for an hour and throw in some peppers, onions and cheese. I love that I can use one skillet for the entire meal. To clean, I boil water to soften the dried food and then re-season by rubbing a little oil all over it. Do not put into the dishwasher!!

camel 3x shows that since last august it is dropped to this price multiple times. If you don’t get it this time. Don’t fret it will most likely drop to this price again within a month or two.

My husband and I ordered the bigger (5pc?) Lodge set from Amazon several months ago and it’s AWESOME! The price was just as amazing! I’ve always seen them at stores and thought “maybe one day” SO glad we yook tge plunge & made the purchase! Our food cooks evenly now and to us, it tastes better than with our old cookware! Great investment! ♡♡

I love my lodge cast iron! Southern living had a great one pager too on the care and keeping and restoration of cast iron – October 2014 issue. You can probably find it online.
