I just did. Check the box that says “gift” and then email to yourself. Be sure to set current prime membership to Not To Automatically Renew. This way you can restart membership when it’s best for you, possibly extending your membership further.
I was charged about $6 in tax.
Darn – I am a prime member but I received an error: “Amazon Prime (One Year Membership) is not available for you to purchase because you are either a Prime member or you are buying Prime with 1-Click ordering. Please delete this item to continue.” This appears to only work for new members.
I am a current member that expires 2/8/15. I chose the end my membership option on 2/8/15 so it doesn’t renew. Then I gifted the $72 membership to myself. It worked fine.
how do you select your prime membership to not automatically renew?
If you let your prime expire u can get it for $49, just did it
