[h2s_box]I was just letting you know what an awesome deal I found at Target today! I saw some Baby Bumbo Seats on clearance! I thought, Yes….I have been wanting one! The seat was marked down to $27.98, which seemed like a good deal, BUT after I scanned it, it rang up at ONLY $11! You’ve gotta be kidding me! You better believe I bought one! Thanks for all you do! -Aubrey[/h2s_box]

This seems like a pretty *HOT* deal if you can find this clearance at your Target too as these Baby Bumbo Seats go for $39.33 on Amazon.com with awesome reviews.

Nice deal! I’ll be on the look out when I go to Target in the morning!

  2. Saira

I got the same one for $13 about 2 months back at target

  3. Es

My target sold it for $19.99 clearance about two weeks ago after not two left and I too had been wanting one for my daughter and it was this mint color one!

    Where does Aubrey live?

    • A.

      I live in Texas 🙂

Please read this article (or other literature on the subject) prior to purchasing one of these. As a practitioner of occupational therapy working with the pediatric population, I have not met another physical or occupational therapist who would ever recommend this product.

Spending too much time in ANY baby spot, whether it be a bumbo, exersaucer, swing, etc can be harmful, but I find it hard to believe that a few minutes here and there in a bumbo is going to hurt anything. I have 3 kids that used a bumbo for short amounts of time between 3-5 months old, and they were all established sitters at 5 months. So…they were all early sitters and went against what this article is saying.

      • Dr6

The way the hips sit in the seat are cause for concern.

        • Ashley

I understand that, but like I said I find it hard to believe that 5 minutes here and there is going to do damage. I have yet to see a preschooler having problems sitting/walking because they sat in a bumbo as an infant. I appreciate research, doctors, etc, but I think sometimes we just need to make choices (aka- throw a bumbo in the bathroom so I can pee without hearing my baby scream) based on what works for us.

I so agree totally kept mine in the bathroom so i would have a place to put baby while i used the restroom. Used it with both my boys this way both were early sitters and walkers as in 9 months walking.

Melanie, just to understand a little better, i bought a bumbo for mu baby he is only 4 months old bt since he cant really sit i wasnt really planning on seating him in it anyway yet, bt is it the same as harmful to sit him in the bumbo when he is older like when he is able to sit byhimself? That was my idea when i got my bumbo, to wait till prob 6-months to let him sit in it, what would u recommend? 🙂

    • jami

Melanie I also work in occupational therapy and was unable to open the link from my phone but just curious why these are not recommended? I get how you would want them using their own muscles rather than an assistive device but how is this different than using the parallel bars or a wheelchair to train your muscles in becoming independant… both of my kids used them and we’re walking before they were one.

    • Sarah

Funny, my son’s PT and doctor recommended this because he had torticollis, long before he could sit unassisted. This kept him from developing more of a flat spot on his head because he spent more time seated instead of lying down.

    • artemis

I agree with Melanie. Thanks for the advice

It’s a miracle! My kids (now 25 and almost 20) somehow made it through their childhood sitting in baby swings…using walkers…booster seats…eating candy…and dirt….watching tv…playing video games…stating up to late…and so on and so on. They are both happy…healthy…well adjusted…able to walk…talk…went to college…have good jobs. SMH.

I also found the ‘park hill’ print boppy pillows rang up $17 at my target! They were not marked, but I bought two for upcoming baby shower gifts!

  7. Meghna

I agree with Melanie . We had a physiotherapist come to see our son from when he was almost 3 months for a stiff hand. She was with us for a couple of months to observe his growth and told us that not only seats but walkers are not necessary.

    • Claudia

None of these items are necessary for any baby. It is just a convenience for parents and also a marketing strategy for people to spend money. I am young but I got old school ways and this seems such a waste of money no matter how cheap they are. None of my kids used this seat and both walked at 11 months. Just saying….

  8. M

I got two of these for my baby shower and my baby was just too chubby to fit. His little legs got stuck! This post made me think of then and I got a good giggle for the night.

    • Sasha

I also had a plumper whose thighs would not fit, so they could sit!!

    • Jenna

My son fit in one for… Not very long as a baby. But from ages 2-4, he’d sometimes sit in it while watching TV. :). He loves it.

      • Jenny

We do a lot of camping and I would bring this along as a booster seat ( when my kids were 2-3) while we were eating dinner at the picnic tables. I worked great. Before anyone mentions it, I understand it’s not secured to the table and I never left them unattended.

  9. lucky

Yes these are not good to have as a learning tool on how to sit. All babies learn how to sit and walk naturally. No doctor should ever recommend this. Lots of tummy time will help them sit on their own. Trapping them in one space keeps them from exploring their surroundings.

  10. Lela

I loved this product for both my kids and helped them. My youngest was rely stiff and help make him stronger. I think it depends on who your talking to about the product. As it goes for all doctors are different. It took us 20 doctors to get my son the right doctor he needed and nothing was wrong with him!

  11. e

The product isn’t the issue, the people are. There is nothing wrong with putting your baby in this to feed him or entertain her while you poop. There is something wrong with sitting them in this for long periods of time. Studies show this. Melanie, it is irresponsible to post that no one should use this product.

    • Tara

She did not post it was irresponsible, she posted something informative for people to read and make their own decision about. Some health experts may not like it but it doesnt mean it is a harmful product, unlike for example the nap nanny which was pulled from retail. I personally had one but barely used it, but for this price I would definitely buy it.

    • Lynn l

e, I couldn’t agree more. No it is not necessary, but sometimes a place to put the baby in to eat or if you need your hands free, it is great for short periods of time. Just my opinion.

  12. Whitley

These are awesome. Especially great for when baby has head control buy can’t sit up yet.

  13. J

Obviously you shouldn’t be leaving a baby in any device for an extended period of time. A typically developing baby is not going to be harmed by being in one for a few minutes here or there.

I’ve had 2 kids (well 3 but one is an infant), both sat by 6 months and walked before 11. Just use common sense, people. And thanks for the deal, Collin and Aubrey.

    • Happymama

      Well said :).

  14. Niki

I actually bought this and put in my shower so I could actually shower , I’m sure some people will say that that’s not safe either but I thought it served a great purpose and it wash convient for me and baby to bath( I didn’t learn this trick until after my 2 kid and I was stoked to actually be able to shower more:) to each their own!

    • Getta

Me too! Best idea ever! I’m a single stay at home mom and this was the best thing for taking a shower without leaving my daughter in a room by herself or crawling around on a cold bathroom floor. She’s 2 now and loves the water and loves taking showers.

  15. Amanda

Worked at my local Target. Clearance price was 19.98. Rang up for $11.98

  16. Tara

Target near downtown Orlando has the tray on clearance for $5.98. Rocky mount nc it was $2.98.

  17. iamoved22

I used a bumbo with my daughter – she is now 9 and a wonderful healthy happy kid (and a dancer). I actually loved the bumbo because my daughter craved being with me constantly (she still does today) and I would set this up on the kitchen counter next to me while I washed dishes, baked, talked on the phone, etc. It was the only way I could get things done sometimes and she loved the new view and being able to be right with me. We didn’t use it constantly and she never had any developmental delays. I would take it with us to visit family to use as a stand in high chair.

  18. Kate

I too was concerned about the hazards of a Bumbo and didn’t use one with my first child. Now with our second, the Bumbo has become very helpful. Its great for traveling and feeding. We never let her sit in it too long or leave her unattended. She can actually push herself out causing the Bumbo to tip back (with the straps and tray on her. If your responsible with it, this could be an asset to any mom, even its for 15 minutes or less a day. Wish this deal was sooner. I bought mine on consignment for $22.
