Yes, but this day has a bit of history(not sure about the others) plus no one is saying you have to have a donut.
History of National Donut Day
The Salvation Army began the tradition of handing out donuts to troops during World War I, eventually evolving into National Donut Day during the Great Depression. Today, National Donut Day serves as a timely — and tasty — reminder of the Salvation Army’s commitment to Social Service Programs.
I don’t think it’s really a celebration of donuts. It’s a marketing gimmick.

I’m sure doughnut retailers eat up the opportunity for marketing, but it actually is a real thing. It was created by the Salvation Army in celebration of the individuals who served doughnuts to U.S. troops.
