One the top perks of being a Target REDCardholder is that you’ll get an extra 5% off all purchases made with your REDcard! And, Target REDcard holders always score FREE shipping on Target.com – no matter how small or big the purchase! This perks means you can save gas and time… and opt to shop in your pajamas! Love that! There are also additional perks such as scoring 30 extra days for returns and exclusive deals just for cardholders.

Another perk is Target’s Take Charge of Education Program – just choose your kids’ K-12 school and Target will donate 1% of your Credit or Debit REDcard purchases made at Target and Target.com.

Not a fan of credit cards? Keep in mind that you can get all these perks mentioned above by signing up for a Target Debit Card. This card works just like a check by drawing from your existing checking account AND there’s no annual fee!

No problem. Just note which one you use. There are 4 with the same offer code but different certificate number.

Emma have they all been used? Thanks so much!

Love it! I have the debit version and save a couple hundred every year! The debit one doesn’t run credit for those of you concerned about that. Also free shipping and ease of returns is nice!

I also use the Redcard (debit version) and LOVE it. 5% doesn’t seem like a huge savings; but combined with Cartwheel and coupons – it’s totally worth it. The free shipping also helps out A LOT!

Had the debit card… I would suggest having an account that is just for target debit. We had it linked to our working account and sometimes it would take a week to clear the funds and it would mess up our register. I ended up with target charging me over a hundred dollars in returned check fees six months after the fact!! For three purchases under $10 each. I have not used that card since then.

It has its perks but for us is not worth the headache. If rather have the credit card and be in more control of payments. I just haven’t applied for one…

Im with you. You need to have account just for Target. I messed up my account so bad. It takes toopng to debit.

    • Janet

I’ve noticed that for me, it would take the longest for the purchases to go through on weekends but during the week, they would be withdrawn the following day.

    • SB

I write down my purchases in a checkbook register so I don’t ever have this issue. Seems a little excessive to open a separate checking account just to shop at target! 🙂

    • K

It must depend on your bank. Mine only take 2 business days.

  6. Krissy

Love having the Target RED Debit card. Money comes right out of my account and I save an extra 5%! Can’t beat it, Especially if you are using the Cartwheel program and Target store coupons too you can save a bundle!

I got the Redcard credit card in December. Between having the free shipping and moving closer to a Target, I’ve significantly shifted my shopping to Target (which I’m sure they are hoping for…). Where I live the sales tax is 6% so the 5% discount almost pays for the tax.

Now Target is a weekly stop for me. I look at Collin’s matchups and get a lot of groceries there, as well as clothing and accessories.

If you are playing this game, you gotta be a fan of credit cards. Period.

    • shirley

one target debit card and a Discover. that’s it. cash most of the time.

      • Ashley57

You can get a debit card. It is simple.

        • Guacho Nieto

I’m just saying, if you are playing this game, you cannot say you are not a fan of credit cards.

          • Caran

It has nothing to do with credit. I would pay with my debit card if I didn’t have the Res Card debit card. It works the exact same as my bank card, I just get free shipping and 5% off every time I use the red card. When I use the red card, I think of it as either using cash withdrawn from my checking account, writing a check from my bank account or using my debit card (which comes from my checking account.). We aren’t fans of credit cards and it’s not a “game” to me in the same way Cartwheel, MQ’s, TQ’s, Target mobile Q’s, RedPerks (in Beta in Raleigh/Durham), Ibotta, Snap etc. aren’t games to me. It’s just the way I shop because I can’t afford not to.

Love, love, love my Target debit card, plus no need to save receipts if you use it because they will have a record if you need to return something!!

    • Just Me

That’s true except I lost my card once and had to get a new number so now I save receipts too

  10. SG

I have a Target credit card and I love it! I recently switched from shopping at Walmart to shopping at target. I love love love target!

LOVE my Target debit. I use it all of the time. Yes, it does take them a few days to debit the $$ but that is because they process the payment like a check so it takes a few days to go thru. It is not Target’s fault when your bank account gets messed up because you didn’t keep track of the funds. If you keep a check register and account for all of the debit/credits, then you don’t have to worry about overdrawing your account. I’ve had mine for almost 3 years now and have never overdrawn because I always write it in.

    • Ashley57

Yes, exactly. You just have to pay attention to your funds, or have a small cushion at least.

  12. ashley

I have the target credit card, just applied & used it for the diaper scenario, love it so far! I was weary having another card hooked up to my checking account so I decided to go with the credit card.

  13. Valerie H

I’ve had the Target debit card for awhile now, I LOVE it! Great savings and I joined the pharmacy rewards so after 5 prescriptions I get an additional 5% off. I also signed up my kid’s school so they get 1% back too!

  14. sophietn

Target is my happy place. I have had the Target debit for 5 years, and it has been worth it. I have never had any trouble with my bank (Regions). Purchases (and returns) usually go through within 1-2 days. Between Redcard and Cartwheel I have saved so much, and I never have to set foot in that store that stars with a W. I get the hesitance on having a card hooked to your bank account, but Redcard has been great for me.
