I have a funny Talk Like A Pirate Day story about Krispy Kreme that I’d like to share.
A couple of years back I was down with the flu, so my husband volunteered to take the three kids (a toddler, a preschooler, and a teenager) to Krispy Kreme to get their free donut. We had some pirate costumes around, so everyone was dressed like a pirate. He went in there expecting to buy a dozen donuts and for the three kids to each get a free donut.
To his surprise, the Krispy Kreme people were absolutely thrilled to see the kids dressed up and gave each of them their own free dozen donuts! They were fresh, too, and still warm when he got home with them. My teen was so happy, she brought the donuts to school the next day and shared them with her friends, and my husband brought a box to work and shared with his coworkers. That’s one of the biggest freebies we ever scored, especially since it was such a surprise!

Awesome! There is nothing better than fresh, hot Krispy Kreme.
I think I will wear my grandson’s wooden sword along with a sash and a kerchief.
Don’t wear it to Krispy Kreme. No weapons and sword isn’t on the list of options. Not sure about long john silvers.
if you end up with a lot of donuts, i highly recommend making bread pudding with them. so delicious!
A tip for the next time around……When stores like Kmart, etc put the Halloween stuff on 90% clearance….that’s the time to pick up all the pirate stuff in all sizes that you can so you can outfit a crowd when Pirate Day freebies come around.

A few years ago, I told my hubby about the Talk Like a Pirate at Long John’s. He was so skeptical because I’m always pranking him anyway. So, he walked up to the counter and leaned over to the cashier and whispered, “if I talk like a pirate, will I get a free piece of fish?” After she confirmed, he broke into his “Arrrggggh matey!” in a loud voice. Hahaha! It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. LOL! 🙂
