Free Sam's Club Membership for New Moms

UPDATE – 9/24/15 (sent in from a reader): I wanted to give you an update on the Sam’s Club free membership for new moms. On Monday, I was given a reference number and told I would receive a call back within 2 days and if not to call back. Today, I called back. They informed me that they changed the procedure and are no longer returning calls!!!! Sam’s is now mailing a letter with your account number and I should receive it by October 15th. The letter must be taken to my Sam’s Club store to get my membership card by November 15th. Anyone who was given a reference number should call them to give Sam’s their mailing address.

This *HOT* offer for all you new or pregnant moms out there is still available! Through September 29th or while supplies last, Sam’s Club is offering up all new moms (with kiddos 1 year old or younger) and moms-to-be out there a FREE Annual Membership! To snag this offer, you’ll need to call 1-888-746-7726, choose option #2 and then tell the representative you are calling for the New Mom Membership offer (note that you will likely be on hold for over 15 minutes when calling about this offer so you will need a lot of patience!).

Sam's Club FREE Annual MembershipAfter providing your full name and mailing address, you will be given a membership number – you will need to take this number to the customer service desk at your local Sam’s Club where you will be issued a physical membership card. And the best part – this membership is active immediately and valid for one full year!

Ha! You make it sound so easy. I’ve called over 50 times and haven’t even gotten through to be put on hold.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear that Elaine. Hoping you get through soon!

    • Angel

I feel that’s prejudice, when are they going to give away free membership’s to women who are disabled or military disabled retiree’s?

      • Angel

Also, how do they know who is pregnant and whom are abusing this offer? anyone can call in and request this offer, who picking up the tab for these individual?all the disabled and retired disabled military retire’s?just seems prejudice to me just saying.

        • Sandi

I wondered the same thing. But I’m pretty sure they don’t care if someone fits the criteria because they just want customers. Their memberships have dropped a lot over the last couple of years or longer. There have been a variety of free memberships offered over the last year.

          • haldenangel

Unfortunately they aren’t giving it to anyone. My baby is six months old, but is not my first and i was turned down. After three hours of calling and waiting!

      • Jennifer

Or women that struggle with infertility-because that’s NOT cheap! Insurances cover you having a baby, no one covers the expensive treatments to have one. *sigh*

        • Sandi

          Infertility treatments are voluntary.

  2. Mochi

Anyone who calls, please lmk what personal info they require? Ty!

    • J

I was asked for a code from a flyer that was mailed. When I said I didn’t have one I was asked for my name, email and phone number and told that someone will call me.

    • Dorothy

They asked for my name and phone number. Gave me a reference number and said someone would call me back to activate my membership.

      • Nicole

I finally got through today, and sat on hold for 40 minutes. The lady asked for my name and phone number and said someone would call me back as well. That was eight hours ago…

    • Jamie

I got through this morning. The lady was so kind. She took my name and address then gave me my membership number right away. Took it to SAMs club and got my card right on the spot. It was so easy once you get through. Just remember that patience is the key.

      • Haley

Same here 🙂 my lady was very nice. Asked for my name, address, phone number, and DOB. However, she never asked the age of my child.
Jamie- Did your lady ask? When I do into the store to get my card, will they verify her age then? And if so, how?
        Thank you!

        • Jamie

Nope. No one asked and at the store all they knew was that I had a membership number and gave me a card. I really do have a little one though and she was with me. But on the phone no one asked.

      • Allison

What did you have to bring into SAMs club?

        • Sandi

I believe you’ll need a driver license or state issued identification care.

  3. Britni

I’ve been trying since yesterday and always get a busy tone 🙁

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Bummer 🙁

    • tiara

I called and called every 5-10 min early this morning and finally got put on hold after busy tones. Speaker phone on hold for 10-15 min while i got my kids homeschool stuff prepared. It was easy once they answered. They are taking calls until 11pm central time.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  4. Elise

Email them! I got a response w/in 5 minutes. Nice and easy.

    • Jeni

So did you get signed up via email? If so what email address do you use? TIA!!

      • Elise

I used the contact us form on their main page saying I couldn’t get through on the phone. I got the auto email. And 5 minutes later got a response asking for my address and they would send me my #.

    • Mochi

The # is busy busy busy! Ooooooooooooo nice tip, thx!! ;-D

    • Elaine

I emailed them and only got the standard automated reply. Never heard from an actual person.

      • jocelyn

i just email then will see hopefully it works

    • Paola

whats the Email address? i have been trying to call since yesterday too, someone said they would call me back and still nothing.

  5. amanda

Been calling all morning, it says you will be put on hold and then a dial tone.

  6. Heather

I have been trying since yesterday!! Busy signal every time!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

This deal seems to be in overwhelming demand for sure. Hoping you get through soon!

  7. mommyx4

I have been trying to since yesterday and 5am this morning and nothing just the busy signal

  8. Cynthia

Someone mentioned an email, can you please share? I also have been trying and keep getting the busy tone 🙁

    • Nancy

That person didn’t want to leave any specific info, thus just a comment

      • Holly

I tried multiple times contacting through email via the sams club website. “Contact us” tab. It just continues to say “error processing request please try again later.”

        • Amanda

I went to the SAMs club website and emailed them through the contact us link. I got my member number within 1 1/2 hours. When emailing you have to provide name, address, phone number and birthdate. They will then issue you a moment number.

          Good luck to everyone!

        • taty

When I emailed them it told me the same thing but I anyways got an email from them about 10 mins later.

    • heidi

The person who posted that comment did later post when asked, that it was the contact us form on their website.

  9. Su

After trying like 50 times , i got hold of representative , she asked my name , my named is little complicated so i was trying to tell her and she just disconnected me 😡…. How rude

  10. Julia

Called yesterday and was asked for a name and phone number. Called today again and after 35 min. on hold got member id. Thank you Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad you got through! You are so welcome! 😀

  11. tkbgame

Just called my local Sam’s after continually being hung up on and THEY left me sit on hold forever. Guess I will just be glad I’m a CostCo member and move on. Totally lame.

  12. Mini

Called yesterday and got connected in 15 mins. Was asked my details and got membership number. I went to SAMs club yesterday and asked for the physical card. They just took the number and made the card in five minutes. Ahhh what a breeze 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Perfect! 😀

  13. Tabu

Do they ask for anything when we go to sams club to activate membership ?

    • Jamie

They only asked for my drivers license at mine when I went and gave them my membership number.

    • Mini

They didn’t ask anything from me

  14. sara

How do they prove the baby’s age? My son is 15 months.

    • Heather

I’m assuming that they are hoping that mothers will just be honest.

  15. Valerie

I called this morning and got my member ID Number! So excited 🙂 question though, I saw a comment on here yesterday from a lady claiming she got 80$ worth of baby stuff on her card… Anyone know anything about this?

    • Korine

What time did you call in? I’m wondering if it’ll be easier to get through if I call really early?

    • Yoli

Hi Valerie. I saw the same comment. I haven’t seen anything myself regarding that. I believe that info to be a bit “fishy” $80 in baby stuff for everyone who signs up seems like a good amount of money. I would suggest calling and asking. I myself am just gonna let it go and see what happens, not putting my hopes up.

      • My ♥️s N Texas

I wasn’t the person who commented that but I got this last time it was offered and I did get a polka dot tote bag in the mail from SAMs that had a diaper sample, wet wipe sample, lotion sample, sunscreen sample, code for $20 off sams photo birth announcements and a coupon to try the SAMs formula for free. Probably about a $50-$55 value in my opinion. But even if I didn’t get any free gifts the year membership to SAMs for free is worth it by itself! 🙂

    • april

When I went into store the worker showed me the flyer that people get in mail and it said 80 dollars worth of stuff. I think only people that got the flyer gets the 80 worth of stuff

  16. amy smith

Why is this being advertised if only a “select few” are able to access it? If this was something Sam’s Club was seriously considering for new/pregnant moms, shouldn’t they honor this in the store as well?!? Called all morning and only got the busy tone.

  17. Ashley

Success! Thanks Collin. I got the busy signal when I selected option #2. I suggest selecting one of the other options. I selected option #4 then was on hold for 21 minutes and from there it was a piece of cake.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! So glad to hear that Ashley! 🙂

  18. Amanda

Line was busy…sent email. Now we will see if I get a response.

  19. mommyx4

So do u press option 2 during the first option or second I’m so confused I’ve been doing option 2 then 4 the last time I did option 3 they just took down my name and number didn’t get reference number or anything 😕

  20. jen

can you add people to your card like a spouse once its activated?

    • Jamie

I was able to add my husband

    • Yoli

Hi Jen. I forgot to ask while on the phone yesterday, however when I went into my local store to get my card the lady was able to add my bf no problem. She said you get one complimentary additional person as long as they are in the same household.

  21. Katie

I just got through. And they told me no such program.

    • Carla

      What?!

  22. Becky

I just got through after about 20 min. They took my name and number and gave me a reference number. She said they would call me back to complete it…

  23. Holly

I finally got through after a 40min hold (and about 50 attempts calling and only getting busy signal). They said they are only taking names and phone numbers and will contact me later. We shall see I guess.

  24. Colleen

What if I have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old? Would I still qualify?

  25. Sara

I just got through and he gave me my membership number right away. About 20 mins on hold. I selected 2 then 4. Yea! So excited! Thank you Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! You are so welcome 😉

  26. Jennie

I was told they can not do this deal if you are an existing member to extend the membership, but if you are the “complimentary household” account holder you can have the “primary” remove you from the account. The primary has to call to do this. Then you can create a new account by calling yourself to use the deal, which would begin right away. Our account was about to expire, so this was a great deal for us. Thanks Collin!

  27. Kari Johnson

I called my local Sam’s club and they said I could come into the store to get my new membership. I went in and took my baby’s birth certificate (they never looked at it) and was set up right away! The lady helping me had a print out that she was using to follow directions of how to set up this specific promo, so I am assuming all of the warehouses would have access to this information as well!

    • Stacy

Im really glad this worked for you!! I called my 2 local locations and both said they won’t do this in the store. 🙁

  28. Kayla Jude

I tried to call the number and it just gives me a busy signal. I am a new mom and want to take advantage of this offer while it lasts. Thank you

  29. malcolm

And what is a dad whose kid’s mom isn’t in the picture to do? Guess I can go into my local Sam’s Club with a wig and dress á la Mrs. Doubtfire.

    • Carla

I also feel it’s a little discriminatory stating it is for “moms”. What about dad’s?! If I were you, I would call and ask if you could get it. Since you are the mom and the dad!

  30. parrott06

I’ve been trying since yesterday and can’t get through. I get a busy signal.

  31. Ellearesea

Just got through! You’re the best, Collin!

  32. Stacy

Still no luck here 🙁 I even tried emailing them, but never heard back.

  33. Christina

I just talked with someone from my local store. They said that this information was from a bogus website, but they are honoring it. She said that I could get a membership at the store if I brought the baby.

  34. Anna

I called yesterday and after maybe 4 tries of redial, I got through. 15 mins on hold and got a super nice person. She only asked for my name, phone and address. Gave me membership number right away. I went to my sam’s that night with hubby and kids and they pulled up my info using that number, took my photo and told me I could add another person. I chose to add my mom to it. So 2 families benefited from this awesome promo!!!!! In summery, nobody ever asked about the age of my kids. It must be an honor system. Quite frankly with all the living social deals for sam’s and now this, I think that they are just trying to get more customers to compete with costco. Thank you!!

  35. Cass

I called yesterday and they said someone would call me back. Haven’t heard anything yet.

  36. Debi

Took me about 20x’s calling but finally got through an hold now for 7 mins now. Speaker phone is wonderful, right now

  37. Kristen Fulmer Skipper

Just tried calling and keep getting hung up on. =(

  38. Stacy

Just finally got through! Got my membership # right away. I was asked how old my baby was, my name, address, phone #, middle initial, & birthday. She told me that I should bring a copy of my baby’s birth certificate when I go to the club to get my card.. Maybe they are starting to ask clubs to check for this??!!

  39. Mrs.Harris

Thank you Collin! I tried 35 times yesterday to no avail, but today after calling 45 times…success! I talked with a super nice service rep and the process went smoothly. He even congratulated me on ny new baby! I was asked for my name, address, phone number and date of birth. The rep informed me when I go to the club I would need to bring in my ID (a drivers license would work,) my baby’s birth certificate and the membership number he supplied me with. The membership is active as of today and expires in exactly one year. Persevere ladies! A free annual membership is worth it in my book!

  40. KC

Its valid. I just called and got my membership number. Took me about 50 calls to finally get through and not get a busy signal but once I was through it only like 3 mins and I was a member!

  41. juli

Had anyone actually going to the store? I just went with my reference number and they told me this is a scam and false promotion. Anyone else have this happen? Went to the Addison, IL store.

    • Stacy

That is crazy for them to say it’s a scam when the numbers being issued are coming directly from Sam’s Club. They should have just entered your number into the system and your info should be already registered from corporate.

    • Jamie

I think a reference number is different than a member number. Did they say they would contact you back after giving you the reference number?

    • Amy

I live in Addison too! I was told the same thing.

  42. Brooke

Just used the email option and they replied so quickly! Anyone with a reference number and waiting for a membership, email them and give your reference number. Got a response within 20 minutes! Was way easier than waiting on hold! Thanks so much, Collin!

  43. Becky

Just wanted to share that I emailed Sam’s Club earlier today inquiring about the program and how I could join since I was having zero luck getting through on the phone – and I did get the generic reply right away, but at the 5 hour mark, a real person actually replied and asked me for my name, phone #, address, and DOB and said they would be able to process my membership # within 3-5 business days. I’m okay with waiting 🙂

  44. Alicia

I just called my local sams club and they told me it’s just a scam and I can’t get a free membership 🙁

  45. Anber

They gave me a reference number and said I would get something in the mail anyone get this

  46. Nicole

Yes! Use the contact us by email from their website and avoid the phone. Got a response quickly!

  47. Angela M.

After trying all day yesterday and finally getting a reference number at almost midnight, I decided to try again today. I called for awhile and then took a break. On my last attempt, I dialed 0 0 and was put on hold. A wonderful rep came on and helped me out. Got my member number and logged in online. Everything looks good online and she told me since I am moving out of state in 4 days to just wait and get my member card in my new state!

  48. Brooke

Alicia, it is not a scam. Some of the Sam’s Clubs have not heard about the promotion yet. I called one of my Sam’s clubs and the manager had an email that verified it was valid. Best thing to do is to call and get yourself in the system. Get a reference number over the phone and then use the contact us on their website and give them your reference number. Ask for the membership and they should get back to you.

  49. Amanda P.

Just waiting on hold 😉 thank you so much!!!

  50. Alicia

I got a “question reference number” in the email. They said they need my information like adress and stuff. Am I suppose to wait for them to call me or email them back?

    • Alicia

It didn’t say if they were going to call me back or not in the email.
