UPDATE – 9/24/15 (sent in from a reader): I wanted to give you an update on the Sam’s Club free membership for new moms. On Monday, I was given a reference number and told I would receive a call back within 2 days and if not to call back. Today, I called back. They informed me that they changed the procedure and are no longer returning calls!!!! Sam’s is now mailing a letter with your account number and I should receive it by October 15th. The letter must be taken to my Sam’s Club store to get my membership card by November 15th. Anyone who was given a reference number should call them to give Sam’s their mailing address.

After providing your full name and mailing address, you will be given a membership number – you will need to take this number to the customer service desk at your local Sam’s Club where you will be issued a physical membership card. And the best part – this membership is active immediately and valid for one full year!

Received my Membership # last night after multiple busy signals and being on hold for 30 mins. I went into today and got my card, with no problems at all! They just asked for my ID and took my picture, and shopping I went! 😀 thanks again!!!

Never got a call back (an earlier attempt that’s what they said they were doing) so I called again and after several attempts I got through. 40mins later I spoke to the nicest lady. She said policy has been changing all day because of the amount of calls they are getting. She took my information and that the new policy is they are sending a rebate with the information to take to your local club and they will enroll you for free. Should receive this by the second week in October. Hopefully that’s the case. She also gave a reference number for the call so that’s it’s documented Incase I don’t get the packet.
What if I currently have a membership? Can I get reimbursed or get an extended year?
After keeping me on hold, the line gets cut abruptly. Did anyone else experience the same?

Soooo…. Just got through. Called over fifty times, got put on hold, waited for fifty minutes, only to find out that being a new mom was not to be meant that you just had a baby but that it was your first. Sigh, totally wasted minutes….hours…
I’m a new mom with a 9yr old and a22month old with another on the way also have 2 teenage kids that I’m putting through school.
Called right before 8 pm cali time and got thru took around 35 min but atleast I got a reference number

I guess it depends on how much you want the free membership. Recently there was a better deal that gave gift cards and food and they will have that one again.

I called at 7am when the customer service opens and waited on hold for 30 minutes. They asked for my name, email, and phone number. He said someone would be calling me.
I am a single pregnat mom. Herd i can get a free 1 year membership. Guess i will find out if its true.
After 3 attempts I pressed 00 to get through and not get a busy signal and hung up on. I was on hold for 30 mins but got the sweetest representative. They are now sending out a flyer through mail that you should get by oct 15th and you have until nov 15th to take in. They gave me a reference number in case I don’t receive it.
After trying to call for 3 days and got disconnected several times, on hold for almost 40 mins, finally I spoke with someone and she gave me my reference number. Thank you, Collin! 🙂
Just had a customer service rep from Sam’s call me back using the Get Human call back web service. They took my name, address, and phone number and said they would mailout a flyer that I can redeem in store. I also got a reference number.

When is the best time to try and call?
I went into my local store. At first they asked where my flyer was that was sent in mail. I told them I didn’t get one. I showed the lady the post about how to get it free. She tried calling the 1800 number and it didn’t go through. So she just gave it 2 me.

Instead of doing option 2 like the post says, I did the option that Megan said. I just did 00 and got right in line on the phone. i’m still on hold but it’s only been 5 minutes. we shall see how this goes. 🙂

Used the contact us link on the website as well, got an auto response instantly and a human response within 2 minutes. They requested some additional info and said they would send me a flyer in the mail to take into my local sams club. Now I just have to wait and see.

After getting the busy signal (which then just hangs up) for several days (and even before lunch), I tried again after lunch and at least got the hold music and message. When I called the number, I pushed 2, then 4 (so you don’t have to listen to all the messages). After being on hold for 20 minutes, I talked to a person who got my name, phone, email, and address. She said because of the volumn, they aren’t giving out membership numbers over the phone anymore, but will mail a flier/form to you (estimated to get around the middle of October she thought) and then we’d have a few weeks to take those forms into our local store to get the membership card (the flier does expire by the beginning or middle of November she said….so you need to do it when you first get the form to make sure you get it in time). Just figured I’d update you on their new procedure. Hoping the flier actually comes in the mail since then it would be a sweet deal 🙂
My friend called in for me and they stated they will be sending a flyer in the mail for the offer.
I had a hard time getting through initially. I tried calling back and pushed 00 and waited 17 minutes for someone to take my call. The lady was very kind and friendly and gave me a ” reference ” number in case I didn’t receive the mail packet prior to October 15, 2015. So it really does work and is not a scam 😉

I doubt if they will be issuing more memberships Bcoz I spoke to someone and she said at SAMs club customer service that this offer was only for few selected persons and that someone went on the social media site and posted it and now everyone has been calling and she gave me a ref number too and took down my details and promised to call me back with an answer. Meanwhile I called my local SAMs club and they said that one needs to get a flyer if we don’t have the number from online reps. I have been looking online but can’t seem to find the flyer 🙁
It’s still working. I called 30 times before getting through, and was on hold for a half hour. But the lady told me due to the high volume of callers, they are sending vouchers to the callers, and extending this promotion until November.

Called tonight from California. On hold for 40 minutes and then spoke to a kind representative by the name of Kory. Took 5 min to sign up. He stated I would receive a flyer in the mail by October 15th and if I didn’t just call back with reference # that was given to me. He mentioned to me that they had closed phone lines 11 minutes prior to answering my call but would gladly sign me up. How awesome is that?! He was super friendly and patient. Way to go Kory!
This special offer is discriminatory. It favors those who are able to have or adopt children over those don’t have children for a variety of reasons–infertility, difficulty adopting, choosing not to have children, etc. News of this special deal is already making the rounds of infertility-related Facebook groups, hurting untold numbers of women who would dearly love to be able to have children but aren’t able to. Thanks for the reminder, Sam’s Club, that we have no value because we haven’t been able to have children. And in case you think there aren’t that many of us, one in eight couples in this country are fighting infertility (https://www.resolve.org/get-involved/the-center-for-infertility-justice/blog/how-many-people-have-infertility.html). Probably just as many struggle with the adoption process. Both struggles cost us tens of thousands of dollars. So you’ve just alienated a considerable number of people whose hearts are already breaking because they’re having such a hard time having a child and whose household budgets would appreciate the free membership even more than those who’ve been able to get pregnant with no effort at all.
So those who are infertile are blaming Sam’s Club for their infertility??? I understand that being unable to have children can be an emotional burden, but those who allow an offer to new or pregnant moms upset them, have much bigger issues to deal with besides infertility. In fact, these would be the people who need to deal with their underlying issues before thinking about bringing a child into this world.

Or maybe because it’s so expensive having children they’re offering a way to help in a small way by having to not pay a membership fee. I’m sorry for those who experience infertility. I know quite a few and couldn’t imagine the pain I see them go thru. And they’re not giving it away just to women who get pregnant with no effort at all. I tried for a few years to conceive my daughter with no luck. To complain about a nice gesture to those who have children is ridiculous. Wouldn’t you want the help?
Woe lady!! No effort at all?…your wrong and bitter. From my experience it took me a 21yr old..eleven months to NATURALLY conceive a child..of the time it took god humbled my heart and I realized its god will not mine. God opens and closes the womb. My advice god has a plan for you now I don’t know what it is for you but you need to trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.
Id be more upset at the amount of women get ABORTION killing innocent babies!!! Than Sams club giving free memberships. Its people like you that take away our freedom. Ever thought sams club is really the one benefit from having thousands of new members who are expected to buy lots of items for the fact of supporting a child and themselves
I really like how you said its up to God to bless you with children, people have no idea that God is creator of life and if its not His plan for your life to have or adopt children, that’s equally a blessing. There really is no excuse for infertility when God has all the answers and is waiting for men and women to humble themselves before Him.

My husband and I just had our first child after almost 8 years of marriage (will be 8 years Oct.16th, our little man is 3 months…). We were told we probably wouldn’t be able to conceive. I am a firm believer that with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, ANYTHING is possible. I went through a phase of extreme bitterness and anger because of my infertility, and when my husband and I finally came to terms with and accepted it, and let go of the anger, the Lord blessed us and surprised us with our little one! And, even better, we conceived 100% naturally and had a home water birth, AND he was born 2 hours before my 32nd birthday!! He is an incredible blessing well WORTH THE WAIT and every tear shed!! I know first hand how much it hurts, but I never would have gotten so irate and bitter because of a membership offer… I am saying a prayer for your healing. Hugs and love!! 😍😘
What a great testimony! I love hearing how people turn their hearts to God in the pain and frustration only to find that God was waiting for you to give up control. No need to seek fertility treatments when God had the solution. He would have let you do treatments but you would still have anger and bitterness. God bless you and stay close to Him 😀

I was going to get one for my girl scout troop, since we’re non-profit and 501-3c but since we are non-profit, we don’t have much money. I got through finally she asked for all the info you guys said! I got my reference # and they will send me my paper in the mail by oct.15 thanks a lot !
Tried to call the 888 number non-stop for hours and kept getting a busy signal so I finally just called my local store. I was told they knew about the promotion so I went to the store. I told them I could not get through on the phone to get a reference number. I was told they had people coming in with references number but the reference numbers weren’t working. They were very nice and gave me my free membership right then and a family member got a complimentary membership.
Forgot to mention that the customer service representative also told me they had people coming in who had been promised a phone call back days ago and never received one.

I just did it, I pressed 2, then pressed 3. I was on hold with music for 15. I got a sales rep and they signed me up very quickly! I have to wait for the card in the mail which should come by October 15 🙂
Just got off the phone with the sweetest representative named Isaiah! It took 44:01 minutes waiting on hold with the music. He was very quick..took my info and said voucher will be sent to me by Oct.15th. So the offer is still going. I called at 9:28pm, CST, was off phone by 10:14pm…yay!!! 😍
I work at the Sam’s club in Provo utah. We now have a code and can process this in club. Make sure you do it before the 29th. You card is active right away instead of waiting for it in the mail.
Just got off the phone with a rep. It took about 35 minutes of waiting to get through but in the end it’ll be worth it. To get through simply call the number press 2 then press 00 it will definitely get you through without the busy tone. Once you hear a ring and music and a automated voice all you do is just sit and wait for about 30-35 minutes 🙂 Flyer will be sent in mail will have about a week to take it to Sam’s to get your card,Your Welcome
