I know others were saying to gift yourself prime then apply it when the current one expires, but I’m not seeing gifting options when I try from my non prime acct. It just wants me to sign up for prime. On my mom’s account, she’s a current prime member, she can buy a gift subscription at $99 regular price only

    • K

Ok my current membership expires 2/24. Since the gifting at the reduced price is not an option this time I emailed Amazon and asked if they will be holding another promo like this in the future so that current members can get a deal. I got a response that on 2/24 when they charge me the $99 email them and they will refund me $32 for being a loyal customer. I’m saving that email!!

  2. Queenmum

Woohoo!! Insomnia pays off!! Thank you Collin:)

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You bet! 😀

  3. Bluettes

FYI, as I saw a couple of ?’s about it/I have had 2 free trials, and I was able to purchase a year at the discounted price:)

Thank you so much, Collin. Very much!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are so very welcome 😀

  4. Bluettes

As an FYI, I have had the free trial and was able to purchase at the discounted price!!!

  5. DaisyRose

I tried to process the order as a gift and the price did not drop to $67 for me.

Then I logged out of my account and added it to my cart, it still showed as $99 at this point. When I clicked “proceed to checkout” and entered my username and password, this is the message I received:
“Amazon Prime (One Year Membership) is not available for you to purchase because you are either a Prime member or you are buying Prime with 1-Click ordering. Please delete this item to continue.”

Unfortunately, I don’t think it will work for existing customers.

  6. Peggy Gay Morgan Webster

gee thanks, Amazon….. living on a fixed income, I had to SAVE to get my first subscription, and am having to budget for the NEXT one…. I really love PRIME ~ the movies, the free shipping, and I’m sure I’ll love the photo storage when I can figure it out….. but to offer this only to “new” customers is a slap in the face to me…. (unless you might offer a bonus to current subscribers of a 50% discount….!) Now THAT would give everyone that is LOYAL a reason to STAY with you! Seems a little skewed to me. Comments???

    • Angela

I completely agree. They have all these promos for new customers but rarely reward existing customers for their loyalty.

      • eyez

it seems like most companies reward the NEW customers…ex, cell phone companies, comcast/xfinity etc….arrrggghhh, no fair

        • Jessica

It isn’t a reward for new customers, it is a promotion to attract new customers. I love Amazon prime!

    • Sharon

I agree as well. I just sent their customer service an email asking why existing customers don’t seem to matter to them and also reminded them that we can cancel at any time. Which I’m seriously thinking of doing. I was on the fence about renewing in July anyway, and I think they just pushed me off.

      • Tami

I was not offered a promotion when I joined. I was also trying to figure out how to email Amazon about an offer for existing customers. I love my Prime – and I have been with them almost 4 years, but I have never received a discount on it — that would be nice — even if it was an Amazon gift card 🙂 Where do you find their email?

        • Sharon

It was actually an online comment form that goes to their email. At the bottom of most pages, toward the right you can click on Help. Under Browse Help Topics, click on Need More Help and then Contact Us. On the next page I clicked on Prime or Something Else. From there, under Tell Us More About Your Issue I just kept picking reasons until I got to a comment section where I could type what I wanted.

I was very nice and polite, but firm in my frustration that my loyalty as a customer is never rewarded. They just emailed me back and gave me a refund of $32 to my credit card. Now that’s customer service!!!

          • Se

How soon were you emailed back, Sharon? I emailed hours ago and have not yet heard anything

    • parkerspantry

It’s how they get new customers in. It’s part of the game and no use in complaining about it. I’m sure you have benefited at some point from a promotion valid for new customers only.

      • Sharon

Actually I just received an email back from them saying they understood my frustration and they refunded $32 to my credit card. By the way, I was VERY nice and VERY polite in my email to them. You catch more flies with honey…..

And no, I have never benefited from one of their new customer promotions.

        • parkerspantry

That’s good customer service then. I wasn’t being specific to Amazon and new customer promotions. H2S often posts codes for different companies offering a discount or special pricing for new customers only- I was referring to one of those.

  7. Teri

Lol that picture. My postman has to call my home to remind me to pick up my packages cause they are running out of space.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😉

  8. Jessica

Woo hoo!! I’ve been wanting to get this, and what better time than when it’s on sale?! Awesome deal!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay! 😀

  9. ELENY

JUST WANTED TO TELL YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK YOU PUT IN TO FIND US ALL THESE GREAT DEALS!!!! BECAUSE OF YOUR WEBSITE I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GIVE MY CHILDREN MORE AND GET GREAT DEALS THAT AT FULL PRICE WOULD BE TOO MUCH FOR ME! MAY GOD KEEP BLESSING YOU!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You are so welcome!! Thank you for such kind words 😉

  10. kiana2014

“Today from 12:00 a.m., ET, through 11:59 p.m., PT, new members can join Amazon Prime for $67 for the first year and enjoy member-only benefits and content, including our Emmy Award-winning series, Transparent. Although the price in your cart will show $99, the promotion discount will be applied at checkout. You will be charged when you place your order.”

  11. Lesly

I currently have prime, wanted to buy it at this price to renew my account, it doesn’t have a gift option, so, would it work if a put it on someone else’s name? And how do I select when do I want it to start? I didn’t see that option

    • Steph

If you have an alternate email you use, set up a new account! Or use a hubby’s email! It’s even worth it to SET UP a new email to snag the deal!! I’ve been holding off to get this and am so glad I caught it in between newborn baby feedings😝

  12. Chris

Thanks Colin for posting about this! I’ve always wanted to try prime but that penny pincher in me could never fork over the membership fee. I just placed my prime order – excited for my first deal. Do you know if you’re not specifically subscribed to amazon mom, if prime members still have access to those deals? Thank you!

    • Marty

Subscribing to Amazon mom is free and you will only have access to those deals if you subscribe.

      • Chris

        Thank you!

  13. Kasi

This is so my porch on most days

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😉

  14. Marie

It’s been so worth full price to me, that I would definitely recommend it for the discounted price. If I’m not getting items shipped to me or someone else for free, I’m watching shows and movies. It’s great!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the feedback Marie! 🙂

  15. Teresa Tarr

I just tried to purchase two Amazon Prime memberships as gifts for two people who have never had it at today’s discounted rate of $67. I could not do so electronically and when I called was told by a CSR and a supervisor that I could not do that because I was already a member and would have to pay full price for the gift memberships even though the two people would be new members. To add insult to injury, I was on hold for twenty minutes before I got to talk to the supervisor. Don’t waste your time with this so called “promotion.” Go Netflix and Hulu.

  16. Klw

Does this go on sale often? Don’t know if I should buy now or hold out and hope for a similar/better sale around Black Friday!

    • Lindsey

Do it now! That’s the lowest price I’ve seen!

  17. Kelly

Found this tip—and it worked: I’m a former Prime member; lapsed these past 2 months; went into Incognito mode; added to cart@ $99.00; checkout went to $67—-purchased w/ same email/payment settings as former Prime account. After receipt, I went to my account & everything is the same: books/movies/wish lists….Hope this helps someone as yes, self-gifting has not been allowed. Good Luck!!!!!!!

    • thrifty mommy

Same for me! Glad I read your post, was going to try on a different email account, but now everything stays the same!

    • Hannah

I’m not sure how you were able to do this, even in incognito mode.

    • Kamaya

Thank you so much for the tip!!! It worked beautifully. Can’t wait to order my new spin bike 😍😍😍

    • Taya

Wait how do you do this i tried to use a different email and send it on nov 28 when my prime account is up but still shows $99???? Help!

  18. SLSvt

Just got it, was very easy. Thank you, Collin for alerting us all to all these great deals! You rock!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      YW! 😀

  19. smarlatt

SERIOUSLY??? I just signed up last week:(

    • Marty

I would say call and ask for the discounted price since it was just last week. Their CS used to be great but I have had some issues recently. Worth a try though.

    • Rachel

me too! bad timing for us! 🙁

      • dealzgurl

I’m with Marty. I would definitely contact customer service and at least try. You never know. They might give you the discount. A bit unrelated but I had a friend whose visiting relative–a child–ordered over $200 in movies on their account over the summer. I urged them to at least contact Amazon and explain what happened and they were able to get a refund. Doesn’t hurt to try.

        • Rachel

I was able to chat with rep and they cancelled my prime trial and gave me prime for $67! awesome!! thank you for the tip!!

    • pr

In case you have not used it, they will refund 100%. Mine was renewed last week but I got it cancelled and was refunded full as i had not used prime. With new price- I again signedup 🙂

  20. Freckle53

You can buy prime memberships and renewals on eBay every day for $79. I did that last year and it’s been fine. I think they are people redeeming credit card points for it. So, just a heads up for anyone concerned about not being able to gift this deal to your current prime account. Mine isn’t due for 6 months so I’m gonna pass on this and pay a little extra through eBay closer to my renewal date.

    • Taya

      Thanks for the tip!

  21. Kalie

Just a warning to everyone I did the “free trial” and when I looked at my credit card statement they had actually charged me for it! So just double check!:)

  22. jenniferrosborn

Thank you! I let my membership lapse a few years ago and did the free trial this summer so I wasn’t sure I would be able to get the $67 price but I did!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Great! You’re welcome 🙂

  23. dealzgurl

I do think it sucks that Amazon doesn’t offer any type of incentive to its current Prime members. The shipping is worth it, though, if you order a lot. I’ve ordered a lot less this year than usual so I’m not sure if I will renew next year or not. The video selection is not compelling enough for me….the photo storage is great but I don’t know if my pictures would be held hostage if I cancel so I don’t use it. Congrats to those who got the discount! That’s an excellent price!

    • Sarah

Use Shutterfly for your picture storage. It’s free!!

    • Missm

From Amazon: “If you choose not to renew into a paid plan you’ll still have access to download and delete your files for 90 days after your current plan period ends, but you won’t be able to upload any additional files. After 90 days, your Cloud Drive account will be deactivated and your content will be permanently deleted. “

  24. P

Just in time for all those awesome Christmas deals!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😀

  25. Laurel

I have a question…maybe someone knows the answer.
My husband and I both have Amazon accounts, but only his has the prime membership. His is up for renewal on October 12. Could he end his membership a few days early and then I gift him the membership at the discounted price?
I put in the part about ending early because I saw something about if you gift to someone who already has prime it just is like a gift card?

    • P

It sounds like you can’t get the discount when you gift it. But you could get it on your account

  26. Julie

I have a trial membership now and cannot get the discounted price. Any suggestions?

    • Selena

      Call customer service!

  27. parrott06

I have Amazon Prime that ends the beginning of Nov. so I was happy this promotion came up because I was able to sign up for it under DH’s account. It’s worth every penny. We order our 30lb bag of dog food on there and that is worth it alone not to have to drive across town and load it into the car. Most days there is an Amazon Prime box on my porch.

  28. HMay

You cannot gift this from an existing prime account nor can you gift it on a non-prime account. I just asked my mother-in-law for her account sign in and simply purchased it for her on that. An early Christmas present that she can use for Christmas 🙂

  29. SongBird

Now THIS is a Prime day! Like many others here, I was a member a couple years ago, but couldn’t afford to renew. I was overjoyed to hear about this one-day deal and with the lapse, I was able to get the special offer today! Please note that there may sales tax, so please be on the lookout if you happen to live somewhere it is applied. For those who are bummed about already being members and losing out on this price. Let’s be positive and hope for two things: 1. You are lucky to have Prime now and enjoy all it’s benefits, which we all know is ALOT. 2. Who knows what the future holds for Amazon and what deals may come around when you are looking to renew next time. Best wishes to all!

  30. Lg

Got mine, Thanks for all the great deals!! 💰y’all are the greatest 👑

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome 🙂

  31. SoxGirl1029

I’ve used the free trial and I’ve also been added on to someone else’s account and I was able to purchase it for $67 in case anyone was wondering 😀

  32. Jen

Cancelled my subscription and signed up under hubbies email. It worked perfectly!

  33. Morgan

Awesome deal! Thank you for sharing! No more trying to add enough to my cart for free shipping, no more waiting days and days for things… I’m so excited.

  34. Stacy

Thanks Collin! I wouldn’t have known about it without your help!! I’ve never actually been a member. I’ve done the free trials, and usually just take advantage of the SS deals as well as spending $35 for free shipping. More and more items are now being marked “Prime members only”, which for those complaining about no deals for being loyal members, those are for you. This is just in time for Christmas shopping, I am so excited for this!!

    • trace

thank you for saying that about the loyal customers…please repost this! I am not a prime member and find it frustrating to see I can’t even buy certain items at all without being a prime member…certain items and prices only allowed for prime members however, if you’re already a prime member, u wouldn’t see this on your screen that it’s exclusive for you. Something to be thankful for existing customers….

      • Kaylee

This is totally true because it forced me to become a Prime Member because of most of the items I bought changed to Prime only. Now I find that I am a prime member, a lot of those items I switched for are now Prime Pantry only. So Amazon is switching a lot of things around and still trying to get the shipping regardless. And yes, they offer free shipping specials sometimes on pantry items but it is frustrating items that used to be free shipped and subscribe and save have been put to pantry and I now have to buy several items to get my one items. So I guess I wouldn’t say things are special for loyal members because it keeps changing and I am finding I am losing benefits if that makes sense. But I do remember the frustration as well seeing I couldn’t purchase my items because I wasn’t Prime. But I still have that frustration sometimes being a Prime member

  35. Katherine

This picture is hilarious!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of my own porch when I get home from work each night. 🙂

  36. LisaKay

Collin and Friends, I saved $36 using Promo Code “FALLSTYLE” on Amazon (takes off 20%). I’m not sure exactly what the exclusions and expiration date are for this code. I was buying men’s boots.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the heads up! 😀

  37. Michelle

I was able to get this for $67 having had prime in the past. I haven’t had a current prime membership in over a year, but just did another free trial that they offered me a couple months ago. So worth a shot for anyone thinking they can’t get it you should try! 🙂 Definitely worth it for me around xmas time. I was also about to spend $7 on shipping today on Amazon for a bday gift. So already a savings for me lol.

  38. Mp

Geez, that’s still expensive. I’d rather add $35 to my cart & get free shipping that way (with 4 kiddos there’s always something I can add to cart….my wish list is never ending). Usually I’m not in a hurry to get my stuff either. I don’t take advantage of the other Prime benefits. Don’t even own a TV. Maybe I’m just missing something about the Amazon hype.

    • Jennine

It’s not for everyone 🙂 but you could stream movies on your computer( instead of Netflix which would then automatically ou for itself) As well as free kindle books on your computer. Their movie streaming isn’t always as smooth as Netflix

    • Cassandra White

I am with you. I don’t use Amazon that much and my last order was more than $35. If you use it often, I guess it is good deal. I just think $67 is staill expensive.

    • vmm

I agree. we don’t have a good enough web connection where we live to stream movies, then again, I don’t really ever sit down long enough to watch one or read anyway. we don’t do Netflix. I buy subscribe and save items once in a while and sometimes order things I’d get locally to get to the $35 but $67? i order a online and I hate paying shipping, I rarely do on anything so this still seems crazy to me.
it’d be convenient but not worhtthe cost for my family…even living out in the sticks!

    • Stacey

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense for everyone, but we like the Prime streaming on our tv and the streaming music. Also, I shop for birthday presents on Amazon and have them delivered directly to the birthday boy/girl. Keeps from having to pay shipping on a $10-20 gift! Also, sometimes we are in a hurry for whatever it is and the 2-day shipping is very nice.

    • Susie

I agree. I don’t get the Amazon hype either. I take advantage of the free shipping at $35 when I order from them. Amazon markets themselves very well. Shutterfly has free unlimited photo storage & pandora has free music streaming. We don’t need the video streaming or e books so the value just isn’t there for my family.

  39. Melissa

I want to make sure I understand amazon prime correctly before I purchase this. Do you always get free shipping on every order if you are a prime member? No matter how big or small your order is or do you still need to spend a minimum amount to get the free shipping?

    • LisaKay

No, you get free shipping on the items marked with the Prime icon. Some inexpensive items are marked as “Add-ons”. Add-ons will only get free shipping when other items in your order are Prime. You don’t need to spend a minimum per se, but you do need to have at least 1 Prime item in your order.

Also, items from “Other Sellers” will not give you the Prime Free Shipping. Those other sellers might offer free shipping as they choose, but it’s not part of Prime.

      • Melissa

So if the item has the check mark next to it then it will ship for free no mater the amount if I have amazon prime?
I’m looking at an item, but then it says it ships free with $35 purchase, maybe it’s just saying that now because I’m not a prime member.

        • LisaKay

Yes if the item has the check mark next to it then it will ship for free no mater the amount if you have amazon prime.

    • dbarker

As long as it’s an amazon prime item yes. Which I never like to order from 3rd party sellers anyway.

      • Melissa

So any item, not matter the amount, if is has the check mark and the word prime next to it will always ship for free if you are a prime member? With no minimum purchase?

        • Jennine

          Correct 🙂 oh happy day

  40. Laura Craig

I tried logging in under my husband and gifting it to my email. It was a no-go 🙁

  41. Lisa Kurcheski

    Would like to join NOW

  42. mamasweetpea08

Anyone know how to set the effective date of the prime membership? It seems that if I purchase today it is effective today. If there is a way to set the effective date, please let me know. thanks

  43. Melissa Lohrey

Been thinking about buying for a while I we seem to order items from Amazon often. So we shall see I just bought it

  44. Rosa

When I checked out, it said if I wanted the 30 day free trial and it said it would be $69. Now when I looked back under the prime membership, it says I will be billed $99 in Oct. Can someone please help me?

    • Rosa

I talked to customer service. Cancelled my free trial and got the $67 prime membership.

  45. Erica

Just in case anyone is in the middle of a free trial like I was, you can do a chat and ask them to cancel it, then it will allow you to purchase at the $67 rate.

  46. Natasha

    I’m a prime member! I’m so excited.

  47. Bre

I love our Amazon prime. Our ups man knows us by name because of all the packages we get. Lol

  48. Ashley

I bought it too! I’m been debating for a long time if we need it, but we buy so much through Amazon, and $67 is amazing!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      😀
