I have the Cricut Explore…what is the difference between the Explore and the Explore One? I love my Explore. I use it all the time!

    • Dlila

The explore one doesnt have the pen adapter 🙂

i’ve also heard of sillouette. any opinions on cricut vs sillouette?

    • SAHM

I have the sillouette and love it, the biggest difference is the sillouette doesn’t need cartridges (so one less expense.), there is a learning curve involved in it but as long as you don’t mind figuring things out, once you get the hang of it very easy and fun to use, so much you can make with them.

Can you make iron ons for shirts with this? If so, do they hold up well? Thanks!

        • Amy

you can do vinyl – certain vinyl works on certain shirts.

You do not need cartridges anymore with Cricut Explore. There is a subscription service through their online Design Space that you can access images.

        • Becky

You have to have internet for Cricut Design Space. You can use the Silhouette without it. I got my Cameo 2 yrs ago and sold my Cricut. Never looked back.. And I had Sure Cuts alot with my Cricut so I didn’t have to use cartridges

I LOVE my Silhouette Cameo! I’ve never worked with a Cricut but I do love that I don’t need cartridges for the Cameo. I work with papercrafts, heat transfer vinyl and decal vinyl.

I just got the Silhouette Cameo and am excited to use it. Where is the place place to buy vinyl from? Thank you!!

        • Ru

I got one recently too. I recommend joining a few facebook groups for beginners. It’s been extremely helpful since it can be overwhelming with all the cool things you can
          do!

I had one of the older circuit & now I have a silhouette. To be honest I never used my circuit because I didn’t do any research before buying & didn’t realize that you were limited to cartridges, which I really didn’t want to do, so I took it back & got the silhouette when I heard about it. I love my silhouette! However, I’ve heard good things about these new circuits, which if I understand correctly now aren’t limited to cartridges. I guess I’m not much help:( But I’d say read up on all of the specs & check multiple reviews of each to see which would better fit your crafting lifestyle:) Price-wise they seem to be about the same, as long as you buy on sale…what am I saying?! You’re on H2S! Of course you’d only buy on sale! 😉

With the Cricut Explore you do not need cartridges either. The software that is used is called “Design Space.” You can import any image you want from the internet and use it. With any new item there is a learning curve. I watched many YouTube videos before I got my explore so that I had an idea of what to do. It’s the best thing! I have created so many unique gifts with it.

I don’t have a cricut but I have friends who do that have made some really awesome things for me! Recently had a decal made for my yeti tumbler. So now when I see something I want from etsy I just ask my friend if she can make it with her cricut and she does! Makes me want to get one to make things to sell on etsy it’s just the time involved in figuring it out and actually using it. Maybe one day!

I really want to learn how to use these awesome machines instead of buying stuff from other people! Are they hard to get the hang of??

  7. susie

I have been wanting to buy a cricut for my 11 year old daughter (and me;-) for Christmas because she loves DIY crafts but I haven’t had time to do any research on it yet. From what I gather: this does not need any cartridge just internet and material to cut. Is that right? Also, is this a good price for a total beginner or would anyone recommend something simpler to begin with? Thanks for any advice in advance!
