Toner cartridges are always expensive and how these companies make their money. This printer uses the Pantum PB-210 Black Toner Cartridge and costs $40 both at NewEgg and on Amazon. BUT… it should yield about 1,600 printed pages. I have a small laser printer at my office and I only replace the toner cartridge about every 6-9 months. Unlike those inkjet printers, which, in my book cost more to operate and require cartridge changing more often.
Toner is the way to go. Let’s see, your average inkjet printer can print BLACK ink pages maybe up to 200-300 pages before it needs a refill. Yes toner cartridges and drums are expensive, but as Diane pointed out, they get a lot of prints. Most toners need to be changed (in a home setting) once a year, 2 if you print tons of coupons. Inkjet printers usually cost people around 100-150 dollars in ink a year. I’ll take the 30-50 bucks a year any day. I use a brother MFC-7360N and print around 30 coupons a day. I’ve changed the toner TWICE in 12 months. For that model toner is around 15 bucks.
Also a heads up, laser printers burn the toner onto the paper. It won’t smudge, ever when under moisture. Good if your coupons get wet.
Is it just black ink? How much does ink cost ?
Laser printer are only black ink and they cost $42 but will last forever! Laser printer toners last sooo much longer then ink cartridges
Thanks for the info
“Print documents on the go”??? Do you still have to plug in this printer or can it run off a battery pack? I’m looking for a true wireless printer I can take the stores with me
Does the toner cartridge included?
Yes I’m still using the one it came with and I bought mine over 6 months ago but I don’t print a whole lot. I think the one it comes with prints like 700 pages but don’t quote me! 😉
Thank u
Has anyone used this on their iphone/iPad before ? I’ve been looking for a cost efficient way to print coupons from the coupons.com app from my iphone/ipad and this seems like a good route 🙂
It does print wirelessly from my iPhone however the coupon.com site only lets me print wirelessly to only a hp printer.
I have this printer – it’s no frills – only 3 buttons and no lcd screen etc but works great. Prints quickly and I love that with laser I don’t have to worry if shipping labels will run if the packages I send make contact with rain. Some things I’ve noticed:
-you can wirelessly print with your phone/devices etc
-it comes with a starter cartridge but not sure how many pages worth you get with it
-laser cartridges are more expensive than inkjet cartridges. However, they last a lot longer and you do not have to worry about them dying out. When they go on sale-stock up for more savings
-only downside is that instructions are not the best-you have to go to their website to download the software. Your wireless connection needs to be set up through a wired computer connection first. This is a bit of a pain but it’s a quick process.
-not sure what customer service would be if something went wrong but for $25 I was willing to give it a shot and so far so good-especially since laser printers are so expensive
Hope this helps!
Thank u
Thanks for the feedback!
The print on the go is kinda misleading. Just some science behind laser printers, they use an extremely high heat in a quick succession to burn the toner onto the paper. The energy draw to produce the heat is what we called a “huge spike”. It’s enough to make your lights flicker in your house for a split second.
Maybe on the go meaning you can pick it up and move it from one house to another, but the energy draw required to begin burning the toner onto the paper can’t be produced effectively without being connection to a good source, that means your outlet. So don’t be fooled into thinking you’re gonna plug it into your car and print.
Average print wattage is around 300-400 depending on the printer, with a spike of up to, well let’s just say this. If 300-400 is working on 3-4 amps as a guestimate, then the inward rush would be up to 20 amps. You’re looking at a huge spike and I’m afraid no portable battery or even a gen for that matter (unless you have a 10,000$ gen) is going to support that inward rush spike.
So there you have it. It’s not really on the go, it just means it is “portable” as in “easy to move from A to B”.
Ordered this yesterday and I already got it! So excited!
