Wow ever since Mattel bought American Girl it just keeps getting less special and less special…Why would I go to Costco to buy an AG doll? The whole point of this company was for it to be a big deal to receive anything from AG. I remember waiting for a catalog to come in the mail and looking through it till it fell apart and than when I had a daughter taking her to Chicago for the weekend and picking things out in the store. Now everything is made with more plastic than anything else and as my sister in law pointed “Made in China”. I just wish the company was the same and that it wasn’t taken over buy a big corp. like Mattel…

I can definitely understand your frustration with the quality of doll decreasing, but I appreciate the affordability that Mantel is offering with the dolls and accessories.
Our family has a tight budget but with offers such as Jill’s Steals and Costco we can give our daughters the opportunity of having such a special doll too.
For us this allows the same exciting moments that you have had with your daughter previously without the unrealistic price tag. Costco or American Girl Store – my little ones are excited to receive one no matter where it came from or how much we paid for it.
I agree with you, Brittney. Without the Jill Steals & Deals I never would have been able to get my daughters the dolls or the beds (that I stashed away for Christmas). I am thrilled to get them at a discount and my girls don’t care where they came from on Christmas morning! Also, AG is trying to reach lots of girls that would otherwise buy dolls at Target or such. If someone wants to give their daughter a special day and take them into the store then I say go for it! I personally love finding items at a discount, that’s why I’m on Hip2Save to begin with.
I understand that these dolls ate VERY overpriced. I really feel that way now since everything is about the same quality as the Target dolls. I have purchased a few dolls during Jill’s deals and i also purchase items on “Cyber Monday” every year. I just fell like they are keep the high price tag without being “high quality” and thy r more worried about out selling the knock off dolls. I grew up extremely poor and saved for years to purchase my Samantha doll. I just don’t think it would have bern as special from Costco…
I agree with Michelle! It was something SO special to receive one when I was little.. now.. not so much. Plus not to mention all of the “Knock off” versions.. which before anyone says anything negative.. is exactly what my girls have. They don’t care who makes it or where it comes from, because they never knew the different. I growing up, did know the difference. And that was something to cherish.
You can get the new Bitty Baby starter collection for $100. The one at Costco is the previous set. Just a heads up 😉

The sale was in Nov. Last year for them…they did have an AG steals in Oct. The past 2 years too. I wayched today thinking it might be today…but it wasn’t

I called and they had them today at Sandy, Bountiful, Lehi, and St. George. I would call and have them check to see if they still have them but they still had 36 when I called Sandy, UT at 4:30 pm.

The Sandy Utah Costco had the Bitty Babies and gift cards today when I was there.
We were all set to buy them in Grand Rapids, Mi. However the checkout people told us you can only redeem them at an actual American Girl store. The closest one to us is a 3 hour drive away to Chicago. We were told they can’t be used on line. Be sure to check this out when you buy. I did not purchase them as originally planned.
That seems like odd information we use gift cards all the time online and these are a 4 pack of gift cards-right? You can use up to 5 per order. Did it say in store use only on them?
These gift cards are available at the Costco in Granger, Indiana. Just to clarify, these are in fact able to be used online. I checked the back of the ones I purchased yesterday. They can be used in store and online.
Also, Granger, IN Costco has the pets but I did not see the Bitty Baby. I didn’t look at the entire toy area though. Great deal on the gift cards though. Glad I stopped in.
