   Did you know? Bass Pro Shops bought out Cabella’s? Apparently effective January 1 Cabellas will no longer exist. I hope the Cabella’s gift cards I already bought can be used at Bass Pro Shops…

  As someone in mergers and acquisitions, I can tell you that since it’s only talk and there have been no public announcements, that this is for sure not effective anytime near January 1. Public companies must announce these things, then get government and stockholder approval. Neither of which has happened. It’s all talk.

  Bass pro shop only made an offer to buy out cabelas. There is no effective date whatsoever.

   Not true—I live in Nebraska where Cabelas is headquartered. Friends at corporate are reporting that the buyout will not happen. Even if it did, Cabelas and Bass Pro would be kept separate stores.

  Do you know more of what’s going on? Why was there talk of the buyout to start with then? Everything I’ve seen and read seems pretty true.
