We just got a BJ’s in our area. Can someone tell me how it compares with Sam’s?

    • Ami

I live in a very large metro area that has all three major clubs (BJs, Costco and Sam’s) and at some point or other I’ve had at least two of the three. Right now I have Costco and BJs. Despite the closest BJs being at least 25-30 minutes away, I still shop there more than Costco which is 10 minutes away and has an easier drive since its against traffic for me. BJs allows stacking of store and manufacturers coupons (which I need to do more aggressively). On multi count packages where the items are individually wrapped, like a 3 count pack of boxed tubes of toothpaste, with the test being can it be resold individually because it has three barcodes, one for each boxed tube, you can use three manufacturers coupons. It can’t be done on things like cereal because it’s just bags inside one large box. Hope this helps your decision.

Thank you so much Ami! I didn’t realize BJ’s allowed coupons or stacking of them. That’s great. No coupons allowed at Sam’s Club.

    Is this for Boston only?

  4. Jenni

Jennifer, BJs give you coupons you can use along with mfg coupons. IMO, hands down, much better than Sam’s.

    • jennifer@kitchenserf

      Thanks Jenni! That’s even better.

Jennifer, you can use manufacturer cpns on items sold at BJ’s. I don’t have a membership myself. But they also serve coke, not Pepsi products in their cafe. I go for lunch there with a friend. Great cafe food. 👍

    • jennifer@kitchenserf

Oooh, they serve Coke. That’s a deal sealer for me. I love Coke products. I didn’t know they had a cafe. 🙂 Thanks Teri.

      • boo

        My bjs cafe is Pepsi

        • Ami

I’m pretty sure mine is too. We usually head out after dinner so I’m not 100% but fairly certain.

  6. Jenni

Roro, not for Boston only! 👍

I truly miss BJ’s. They are far better than Sam’s and they take coupons! And you can stack coupons. And they have many organics/real food products.

      Thanks for sharing Amanda!

I called customer service…apparently, this deal doesn’t work with safari, google chrome..I think she said it works on firefox..Anyways, she was able to purchase the deal for me..so try calling customer service if you are still having problems..

Anyone know if my husband had the second card on my old membership if he could use this for a new membership?

    • sparemom

Wonder the exact same thing 😒

    • Melissa

I’ve done this before and switched the primary from me to my dad and never had a problem. They only track the primary member from what I understand. I usually go and have them keep a record so he can go get his card later.

      • Arlene

Thanks Melissa! That’s what I was thinking but wasn’t sure if it worked that way.

No BJ’s near me, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Costco membership deal soon! I know they are rare though.
