Happy Friday: Kindness at Starbucks
Sent from reader, Delaina:
Hi, Collin! I just wanted to share a beautiful experience with you. My daughter and I are such regulars at our local Starbucks that they know us by voice when we order at the drive-through. 😀 There is one particular barista my daughter (who also happens to have Down syndrome), was always drawn to, and every time we would go through, she would want her window down so she could say hi and thank the barista for her daily lemonade. Well, we went through again yesterday and that same barista had made my daughter a beautiful handmade snowflake ornament and said it was “just because we brighten up their day” when we come.
I HAD to thank her for being so sweet, so I gave her a Yankee candle that I purchased with the $10 off $10 awhile back and personalized it with a notepad I got for free from Shutterfly. Because of all you do, Collin, I’m able to properly thank such kind people as that barista with little gifts such as these.
HAPPY FRIDAY!

so sweet of the barista.
Yes what an awesome barista. I’m sure that ornament took time to make being handmade and all. What a sweet gesture of her.
I love this story! Merry Christmas!
I have tears of joy in my eyes… I happen to have a 5 year old autistic daughter. Sometimes people stare at her at the grocery store because she tends to flap her arms when she gets excited. Some people just treat you differently when you have a kids with special needs, so I definetly appreciate it when people try and recognize her for who she is and not treat her any differently than any other kid.
Thanks for sharing you heartwarming story with all of us. You made my night!
I think it is great she expresses her excitement at the grocery store. Most shoppers appear like zombies with no emotions. So, she stands out from the other shoppers with her happiness, but in a good way, no matter if she had medical condition or not. Collin probably attracts attention with her happy dance at Target. Let your daughter feel happy, like Collin, and enjoy shopping.
🙏😻😍so sweet!

What an amazing story. It touches my heart so. My son has Down Syndrome as well. I so appreciate the people that just treat him like every other kid and even go a bit farther to share extra kindness
💕💗💕💗
It’s amazing how a simple act of kindness can brighten our day. My 80 year old mother in law had saved enough money from her grocery budget to buy a Salad at Zaxbys. She went through the drive thru after her Drs appointment Wednesday to get her much anticipated treat. When she got up to the window, the lady handed her the salad and told her the car in front of her had paid for it, a complete stranger. She called as soon as she got home to tell me all about it, she was so happy. She said it made her feel special. 😊 It made me think I need to pay it forward, and I will.
This story brought a smile to my face, as a mother of a special needs son myself, it warms my heart when others treat our children as they deserve to be treated, with love. Thanks for sharing!
That brought tears to my eyes. How very sweet of her. I bet it made your daughters day. 🙂 and yours too of course.
