Hallmark Walgreens Cards

And, if you didn’t print this already, head to Coupons.com to print this $1/2 Hallmark Cards ($1 Minimum purchase required) coupon (exp. 12/31/15). AND just a heads up that this coupon prints with an ad underneath, so you may want to pick a second coupon to print to avoid wasting all of that ink. Also, this coupon does state for purchases at Walmart, however it is a Manufacturer’s coupon, so you may be able to use it at Walgreens for even more savings. Please note that there’s a limit of one coupon per customer per the fine print.

I tried this last week and it didn’t work in Frederick, MD. I specifically asked about it and the cashier looked at me like I was crazy, so I let it go.

  8. La

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t last week’s promo for points and this week’s is for RR? So even if it didn’t work last week it doesn’t mean it won’t work this week since it’s 2 different systems?

  9. CO Mama

Worked perfectly in CO. My store did not have much of a selection for $0.99 cards, ended up only having Christmas Card Money Holder Cards to pick from…

  11. Walgreens Employee

Please please please DO NOT try to use a Walmart coupon at Walgreens. As a Walgreens cashier I have seen multiple coworkers receive disciplinary action for accidentally letting coupons intended for other stores (even though they say manufacturers coupon) go through.

Especially in this busy holiday season it’s hard for cashiers to read every line of coupons while still getting people through the line quickly. Please don’t add this extra pressure on your cashier or potentially get them in trouble.

    • Laura

If it’s a manufacturers coupon, does it matter that it has another stores logo?

      • Walgreens Employee

Yes, it matters. Manufacturers won’t reimburse Walgreens if they send coupons intended for use at another store because they have deals/contracts with that other store. Big places like Walmart just don’t send in those coupons for other stores and eat the cost of the coupon simply to get the customer in the door.

        • meli

If a coupon says “redeemable at Walmart” or has the WM logo or another store logo, that is just SUGGESTING the purchase be made at that store, not that it’s the ONLY store a customer can purchase from. If a coupon says Redeemable ONLY AT Walmart, then yeah, that particular coupon can only be used at WM. WM is paying for their store logo to be advertised, hoping to draw in customers to their store. Just like if a coupon says “redeemable at Walgreens”, doesn’t mean I HAVE to purchase at Wags. Do you think Target would have in their policy they take coupons with other store names if they weren’t getting reimbursed for those type coupons? Or WM not getting reimbursed if I use a coupon that says redeemable at Albertson’s or wherever? Believe me, Wags IS getting reimbursed for those coupons!

          • Walgreens Employee

Actually, Walgreens doesn’t get reimbursed. We have meetings over this almost monthly. Last time someone took a manufacturer’s coupon with a Walmart logo on it our management went back through the video footage above the cash register to find out which cashier accepted it. She now has a mark on her file and come time for yearly reviews, that will be accounted when it comes to determining if she has to have more hours of training, whether she gets a raise, etc.

Having seen how this affects employees first hand, I urge you to think whether or not saving a few dollars is worth harming an employee’s reputation and potential raise.

            • K

My Kroger won’t take them and consider them a competitor coupon. Their new system knows and will reject it when the barcode is scanned.

            • Faith

It seems to me that since Walgreens coupon policy states they will not accept “competitors coupons” that means that they won’t take CVS, Target, Kroger, etc. issued coupons. Based on my years of couponing and reading coupon policies, I read that if Walgreens didn’t want their cashiers accepting manufacturer coupons with another store’s logo on it they would print that in their policy as CVS does. If corporate is going to reprimand cashiers for accepting these coupons they should simply clarify their policy because the last thing I want to do is get a cashier in trouble or disparage all the other couponers out there by getting it wrong, but I’ve crossed paths with enough cashiers that are truly getting it wrong (as I know there are couponers out there behaving dishonestly) that I am willing to disagree with a cashier who isn’t upholding the store’s policy correctly (ahhmmm…Target…)….this is likely an instance I’d take a stand on; fortunately my Walgreens hasn’t had anything to say about these coupons and there aren’t a whole lot of them to begin with.

      • Judy Trac

That’s not true bc the cashiers at my stores read those coupons for a long long long and don’t mind holding up the line. They’ll take their time and even scrutinize even when I use legit coupons. Get on my nerves when I’m in a hurry but they taking their sweet time

      • Jean

Thanks Jim for posting that link. I wish the Walgreens Employee could share that with the employee with the mark on her file. Unfortunately it sounds like Walgreens is giving their employees some bad information!!

        • Lindsey

I agree. The management tells their employees what they WANT them to believe, instead of actual facts, which is they ARE getting reimbursed. Walgreens Employee, I worked at Walgreens and this information you’ve received from your management is simply untrue. Unless the coupon the employee took said “Redeemable ONLY at (another store)” then yes, that coupon will not be reimbursed because it can ONLY be redeemed at that other store. If it doesn’t state only it’s merely a suggestion to the purchaser.

        • Walgreens Employee

The coupons can be used at other stores. That is correct. Some other stores will accept them (thus saying you “can” use them is true) because they can afford to do so.

What coupons.com is saying is that other retailers can accept these coupons (as per their coupon policy of accepting competitor coupons) but they never mention whether or not the retailer is being reimbursed because it isn’t information pertinent to the customer.

One of my jobs each night when we close our store is taking care of organizing everything cashiers put in the drawers of their registers: return receipts, baby formula checks, coupons, etc. When organizing coupons, I am instructed to sort them based upon their “parent company” (Ex. P&G) and put them in envelopes to send in at the end of the week. When I come across competitors coupons they have to be set aside for further action by management. On the few occasions I have accidentally sent competitors manufacturers coupons in the mail for reimbursement, they have been mailed back to us without reimbursement, just as coupons that are past the reimbursement window (expired coupons).

This comment thread started as a simple plea to help out your cashiers and I still stand by that plea. Colin has always encouraged Hip2Savers to be respectful in their coupon use and urge that that practice continues! Please think about your cashiers and don’t get them in trouble just to save an extra buck!

          • JJ

            I didn’t know WG take competitor’s coupon.

          • meli

I am not aware of any store that hand sorts coupons anymore, they are just boxed off and sent to a sorting co nowadays. Even the local mom/pop store I briefly worked at over the summer sends their coupons off! At the end of the shift, I just turned in a bag with the coupons, and the girl counted them to make sure the number matched my closing receipts and then put in a collection bag til p/u. Maybe the coupons that get kicked back could be fraudulent or some people copy coupons not knowing they can’t, so that is a reason for not being reimbursed? I’m just miffed that Wags wouldn’t be reimbursed for a coupon that has a WM logo, yet WM gets reimbursed for a coupon that has a Wags logo!

    • Dev

It is not the customer’s problem if your stores are too busy to do their job correctly. I agree no one should use a coupon at Walgreens that says redeemable ONLY at Wal mart. However Wal mart does not have store coupons and if a manufacturer coupon says “redeemable at Wal mart” it should be able to be used anywhere.

  12. Tori

It worked in Gillette, WY. 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Awesome!

  13. Jen

I absolutely hate Walgreens the points are horrible and if cvs takes these coupons why doesn’t Walgreens. I even had a Walgreens say they don’t take paper printed coupons and treat them all like fraud. Every Walgreens cashier has made me feel like a criminal so I refuse to shop there for any deal

    • Precious

This has happen to me before. The cashier had to call a manger over and BOTH of them looked at the numbers on my coupons to make sure they weren’t copies.

    • K

CVS doesn’t take them, at least mine won’t. I do not like Walgreens at all though. They are very unfriendly to couponers, even when following their rules.

  14. Andrew

I have Balance rewards points expiring, can I pay with points and get a RR?

    • Tammy

      Yes

  15. claudia

This worked for me in Anaheim Ca!!!!

  16. Diane Mackay

I don’t have a computer or printer, wish I did I would save so much money.I fell got hurt and I am out of work. Is there any other way to get coupons?

    • Stacey

Do you have a smart phone? I watched for a deal on a printer and bought a decent one for less that $30 recently that prints from a smart phone app .

      • Kris

Where did you find the printer deal?

  17. Juju

    Worked in San Diego area.

  18. WagsLead

    Wags employee here!
    Yes the company is getting
More and more strict. BUUUUUT!! If a q says redeemable at Walmart, it is ok. If it says ONLY redeemable at Walmart it’s not ok. Per the policy, it says mq are ok. So that’s what I go by, and that’s what customers need to
Go by! If a PARTICULAR STORE has a certain set of rules, it does not mean it goes for every store!

Always pull your policy out. Manager at the end of the day can refuse em. But still. Stand your ground. Well wishes y’all!

    • jen

Thanks for the info! That’s where I think some of the stores are confusing their employees. The ones that have Wal-Mart or other stores logo as a way to advertise are reimbursing walgreens but it is very confusing to a lot of the cashier’s.

  19. Erica

Worked fine here in Omaha, Nebraska.

  20. Laura

Well I think either Walgreens corporate needs to add that clause in thier coupon policy so it’s across the board or the manager that reprimanded the cashier needs to be reported and reprimanded for not following Walgreens corporate coupon policy….

  21. Rochelle

The deal worked for me in Norfolk, Virginia. I purchased three $.99 Christmas cards and the $3 register reward printed just like it should.

  22. Judy Trac

Wags treats coupon customers like criminals. I hate them.

    • terri

      I’m with you..hate them.

  23. Katie

I can’t find this coupon. Is there a particular zip code to use?

  24. Tarri

It comes down to no matter what the Corporate Policy is, most of them will say that the store manager has the right to refuse any coupon. So in reality that means even if it says “Redeemable at” as a suggestion they can refuse it. And employees should not get in trouble for taking coupons they really could get reimbursed for but they don’t because they don’t know how to read or interpret the meaning of “Redeemable at”. I don’t shop much any more at my Walgreen’s because of the issues with using coupons, just not worth the headache.

  25. Gloria

    Hi Collin,
Can I use the Hallmark card RR that I got today and use it tomorrow on the Hallmark cards and get the 3000 pts on the purchase? Or would that be equivalent as using a RR to get another RR on the same item?
