When we have gone to the store they would not allow us to use the gift cards with a 30% coupon they said the entire purchase has to go on your kos card for the discount. Is it different online?

    • Tammy

That is correct, the 30 percent off is only good if you use you Kohls cc Reddit card. It states that in the coupon. I have used Collins 30 percent off codes online and not had a problem, just can’t use the coupon and the gift card together.

      • wklsunflower

yes you can use a GC and the 30% off as long as some part of the purchase is made on the CC.

        • Ashley

Can you allocate it so that only some of the gift card is used if the giftcard amount exceeds what your order total is?

          • wklsunflower

from my experience GC had to be less then amt spent. Not sure if you can tell them how much to take off. Might be able to buy 5 ($10 cards) at kohls with the $50 gc???

            • Ashley

I think I’ll just do multiple smaller transactions and then return. Bc then they issue a merchandise return card for each receipt. 😊 Little extra work, but it’s worth the savings.

    • tipaye

This is what I’m wondering, too. Card-holder benefits are worth more than the $10, but if I can find some way to use both, I’ll purchase one.

    • Linds'

I’m not 100% positive, but I thought that at least something has to go on your kohl’s card. For instance, if your total was $55 and you had a $50 gift card, that would leave $5 on your kohl’s card and one would be able to use the 30% as well. But, if you had a $60 gift card, there’d be no remainder to go on the kohl’s card and thus not able to use the 30%. I could be totally wrong too. I hope someone else can offer their knowledge. 😉

      • wklsunflower

        you are correct!

    • Leslie

I usually have luck asking the cashier if I can charge part of my bill and then use the gift card for the other part. Then they let me keep the 30%. Sometimes I let them decide how much to charge. If you do enough kohls shopping, you can work your way through the gift card eventually. Sometimes, they only have me charge 5 dollars. I am definitely doing this deal!

    • Tobey

Mine says the same thing. It applies any gift card and then takes off the % coupon from the remaining balance. Thus would be a good deal if you don’t have a coupon to use.

      • Leslie

That is not correct. I have done the calculations. I also work at Kohls and know how the register works. If the cashier agrees to do the 30%, they hit the button and do it. As I said above. Most are happy to do the 30% as long as your charge something to your charge card. But it takes 30% off of the whole bill…even if you pay with part of it with a gift card. Try it out and you will see!

    • Ashley

I use gift cards to pay my kohls charge bill. It can only be done in store though.

      • Kristi

Good idea! Didn’t know they allowed that

        • Ashley

I work at kohls thats how I know. On the payment options screen the last option says gift card/certificate. Ive had to tell multiple cashiers this tho. Its not really done much because very few know you can do that.

      • wklsunflower

I was told by mngt. this is not allowed . Hasn’t been for a few years now.

        • Ashley

It must be one if those varies by store management things. My store managers told me to do it that way to get customers to open up a kohls charge when they already had a gift card.

    • shirinnaz

I always use a gift card online with 30%off coupon. But some amount should go to kohls charge.Like if i have a $50 gift card i make sure to make a purchase around $60 so after paying from gc 30% is applied to rest of the amount.

    • Lori

I will just say this…my experience with kohls 30% off and gift cards. I used to be able to do this online where i would select to use my kohls charge and the 30% discount would apply and then I would add my gift card and it worked great. Got the discount without any charge to my credit card. This no longer works for me. After I add the gift card it recalculates and does not apply 30% off to the amount of the gift card. Sadly, because I had bought a bunch of Kohls gift cards at Rite Aid at discount thinking this would work great. Oh well.

    • Tiffany

Hollie, you can pay with your Kokls charge and the gift cards together. But make sure you gave the cashiers the KC first, tell them how much you want to pay on KC ( $2, $3, $4….) and then the rest go to GC. My store accept to to this way. Hope little help.

From the Kohl’s webpage “Although you cannot make a payment using a Kohl’s Gift Card or Kohl’s Merchandise Credit, payments can be made at every Kohl’s store using a check, cash, or money order. Payments can also be made using Kohl’s Cares Gift Cards, which are Gift Cards sold by non-profit organizations as part of a fundraising program. Payments can also be made through our automated telephone system or online through My Kohl’s Charge by using your bank routing number and checking account number.”

  3. dealhousewife

In my experience, you can even put the whole thing on another charge card and still get the 30% off. it must be up to the cashier? I’ve swiped my AMEX (the card i use everywhere else) without even realizing that I had just used a “kohls cc” coupon and it went through just fine. other times when i haven’t thought about it, the cashier has said “it has to go on your Kohls cc”. so i guess ymmv.

    • Ashley

Yes, the register allows it to go through if the cashier isnt paying attention but they do get flagged for allowing it and can be in trouble.

    • Leslie

The register is too dumb to take the 30% off if you use another form of payment. But we are supposed to use the Kohls card. As Ashley says, the cashier can be flagged. We all log in and transactions are recorded to our specific employee number. So yes, it can come back to us.

  4. Kelly

Does the 30% get discounted on the entire total or only the amount that is left after the gift card is applied? If I spend $100 and use a 30% coupon and a $50 gift card, will my total be $20 ($100 – 30% = $70-$50 gift card) or will it be $35 ($100 – $50 gift card = $50 – 30%), assuming I charge the balance to my Kohls charge to get the discount? I never understood how that worked. TIA!

    • Leslie

You get the discount on the whole amount. 100 dollars in your example. You just need to charge something to your account.

      • Kelly

Great, thank you Leslie for clearing that up!
