Internet Essentials

If you’re looking to save on internet with no term contract, no credit check, no installation fee AND in-home WiFi included, check out this email I received from reader Katya…

The other day I read the post about cable and realized how many people use WiFi instead of traditional cable. Just wanted to share my find! Internet Essentials by Comcast has a program for low income families for internet $9.95 per month for 10Mbps. To qualify you need to have at least one child in your household who receives free school lunch.

Internet

To get started, head on over here to apply. Your application will be reviewed and they’ll let you know within 7-10 days if you’ve been approved (you may even be approved instantly online). If approved, they’ll send you a Welcome Kit with all the materials and information you need to get connected to high-speed Internet.

To be eligible, you must have at least one child who qualifies for the National School Lunch Program, have NO outstanding debt to Comcast that is less than a year old (families with outstanding debt more than one year old may still be eligible), and live in an area where Comcast Internet Service is available but have not subscribed to it within the last 90 days.

Interested? Go here for more details & to apply!

Anyone know how to qualify if you don’t have school age kids, my oldest is 4….

    • Susie

I don’t know about the Internet part, but the free cellphones are given to kids that young. My niece lost her job and had to apply for peach care for her child to cover his medical bills and they automatically sent him a free cell phone, he was 5. 🤔

    • Tabetha

Don’t have school age children. But I thought there was a program for low income families who may be receiving food stamps o4 the TANIF program.
And it was $10 a mo the. I guess everyone I know and heard it from lied about it

      • Lori

I heard the exact same things for $9.95 per month for low- income families. I’m on disability and a medical card. Food stamps as well. My only child left at home is 18 , no more school, unemployed. I need the internet. I guess all my friends lied also. It would be nice to catch a break just once.

    • Shawn Miller

Att has a 10 a month plan for low income dont have to have a child

    • LAChi m khadka

My kids go to school this year i need cheap internet

  2. Cynthia

It’s for kids in school, not adults.

    • barb

It’s for low income families, a family consist of adults and children of all ages

      • Cynthia

It’s for school age children so that they have access to the internet. If adults are in the home, they will obviously use the internet.

    • Deb Patterson

No it also is for low income adults getting Housing help I was approved haven’t had modem set up yet was going to today but had to reschedule having a bad migraine headache. So if anyone is on section 8 or his housing and can document it.As I’m alone my son’s older

      • Linda

Can you please give me the contact information?
I’ve recently been diagnosed with illnesses that keep me from working full time anymore and I just got an affordable apartment through the housing program . I would appreciate it so much.
        Thank you in advance

  3. Gina Figueroa

Orders are being cancelled. Mine was just a few minutes ago.

    • Gina Figueroa

      LOL. Sorry wrong post.

  4. Sarah C

I’d also like to chime in on this…SO many parents struggle financially many would be surprised that they qualify for free OR reduced lunch for their children. I highly recommend looking into it!
As for this…it’s unlimited internet and I believe reduced linch families also qualify. You are also eligible to receive a low cost refurbished desktop or laptop w Microsoft office and security installed I wanna say it’s less than $200.

    • rachel

Couldn’t agree with you more. Give give give.

  5. dan

I’m so tired of the handouts.. we work so hard and what do we get? We get to pay more so they can get it for nearly free. Ridiculous

    • Lisa

I work. I have 4 kids and I struggle each month just to keep a roof over our heads and to keep my children properly clothed. My kids’ school requires much of the homework to be done via the Internet. The school does provide an iPad for them to do this work on but it often requires a wifi connection to do this work. So how is it fair that my children should fall behind on their school work because I can’t afford internet service for them? This is a great program!! It will help soo many!! I guess poor kids should just flunk out of school simply because their families can’t afford the access and resources that are required for their success in this technology age? Poor = no future right Dan? That’s how it should be according to you

      • MICHELLE

        Well said

      • Danielle

        EXACTLYYY!!!!!

    • Milli

Its not a handout. You have to pay for it! I work hard also and haven’t had internet since I was divorced 3 yrs ago. Now I can help my son with things at home instead of going to a friends or scheduling computer time at the library. Why be so negative?

    • Myra

Dan, you are mean and cold. Not everyone is as fortunate as you. Have a little compassion, it might help personality.

    • Christine

Gee Dan…I have worked since the age of 13. I am now 49. I have owned my own single family home, two cars, took a vacation every year, never looked at a price tag in my life, put myself through college, couldn’t tell you the price of gas, was married, had money in the bank but in 2011 everything changed. I started passing out, walking into walls, lost the feeling in my arms, legs, hands and feet. At first I was diagnosed with neuropathy, degenerative disc disease and low thyroid (plus other things) and eventually had a heart attack. I had shrunk two inches in one year, lost fifty pounds, could barely walk, am in constant pain, am losing my vision, my hair and my teeth. I have lost my house, job, car, husband. animals, belongings and my sanity. I have lived in my truck, begged for food, lived in a shelter and have been treated worse than you would wish on your worst enemy. I get nothing for free. I am on Social security disability which consists of what monies I have paid into the system. I pay my own Medicare and prescription insurance and still can’t afford all the medications I need each month. So go ahead and wish you got something like a computer for free. But be thankful for what you have right now. Because most of us these days are living one paycheck away from where I am now.

      • Michael Goldovsky

Christine, I wish you to get well! My father used to be in the same condition as you are now. Nine years we – his family – helped him to fight the disease. And we win. You will win too.

    • Chris

You have to realize everyone is not bless with great financial living or skills like you and even a little money spent is a burden for some

    • Lynn

Dan, you may not need it now or hopefully ever, but if for some reason you lose your job, you will then have more empathy. The number of people who are living on handouts because they want to is a very small percentage. Most are using these services as a “hand up” and not a “hand out”. Most people are in need because of circumstances, not choice as others will have you believe. Yes, there are a few that abuse it but I find that most people don’t and some even chose not to use them even if it’s available to them. Pride is a tricky thing. So, here’s to you never needing assistance! But if you do, it will humble you for sure.

    • Kathy

There are struggling families out there that do and have worked!! Just because you’ve been blessed with a comfortable income doesn’t mean everybody else has as well!! Maybe their suffering your loss so you can have that income because you couldn’t handle the burden!!! My husband got cancer and my back was broken!! Since neither of us can work we get help for the first time in our lives!! You better pray you keep that employment because its very humbling !!! May God bless you in your position cause your pride would make it harder for you than the humility alone!!!

  6. nydia

How about thanking Colin for posting this for those who can benefit from it?
I certainly hope you never hit on hard times and have to rely on an entitlement program run by a liberal.

    • nydia

Also, Comcast is a private company. This is called capitalism at its best.

      • Cynthia

Comcast gets paid for this via special handouts by this administration. Internet is not a necessity. Want internet? Pay for it or go to the library. I’m not a troll. I work 2 jobs so that my family can afford extras. I am tired of the handouts.

        • Barbara

          Well said @Cynthia

        • Heather

I’m not here to argue, but as an educator, this is a great option for those who can’t afford internet. I live in a very rural area and simply going to the library is typically a drive…sometimes a lengthy one.

          • Milli

            Exactly!

        • Heather

Thanks Collin. Century Link offers something similar for phone & internet. https://www.centurylink.com/help/index.php?assetid=11
I never respond to these types of things, but I can’t keep quite on this.
Please don’t judge and assume that everyone on government assistance or that have low income are lazy or feel entitled. I’m sure there are people that abuse the system, but there are some that have found themselves in a situation they there thought they would be in. You just never know what people are going through. I’m a single mother that became very ill, I was septic & nearly lost my life, I also found out while still in the ICU that I had cancer. My oncologist would not allow me to work and my ex has not paid child support in 5 years. I did not want to apply for Medicaid or food stamps, I was very prideful & had always been able to take care of my little family, but I was looking at several more surgeries, hospitalization’s, radiation, & 2 rounds of chemo. I’m in remission and back to work, but so thankful that there were programs to help me & my children as we went through a difficult patch in life. I’m also thankful to Collin & Hip2save staff for all they do to help me save money!

        • Deb Patterson

Sorry Cynthia Comcast does this of there own accord.AT&T was mandated by FCC to provide a similar program it’s 5.00 for 1.3 speed and 10.00 for 5mbps and they don’t tell you how much you can use.Comcast gives you 1 terabyte a month for 10.00+tax and they recommend you connect your phone if it’s a smart phone which I can’t afford but they say to save even more where att is Ethernet and Comcast is wifi att made this deal with FCC to purchase WarnerBros and according to reviews att is so slow that they make it so you have to purchase it

        • Edward King

Comcast does NOT get paid via “Handouts”; it was a condition of their merger with NBC

      • Allison

Both myself and my husband work full time jobs and qualify for this program. We work hard to provide for our children. This program provides children with internet that they need to learn and complete homework assignments. You are basically saying because my family makes less than yours make children should not have access to the tools that they need for their education. Please do not judge others when you don’t know anything about this particular program.

        • Ali Delgado

Heather n Allison ,Now that’s exactly what I was thinking when reading this comments , bless your heart

    • rachel

Here’s the thing. We work. We don’t qualify for this program. We live in a high cost area. My rent is $3100.00 a month Yes MY RENT! My electricity is $380 a month… You probably have more money after I pay my bill’s and buy groceries than I do… oh and guess what I had to drop my cable bc many bill was $200 a month, so yeah it’s a tad frustrating that while we pay a ton you get the hand out. I don’t wish anyone “bad times” but the library has free internet ..

      • Keta bone

maybe you should move to a cheaper state

        • Isabel Fisher

Not everyone can up and moth to another state. I know I can’t. My husband and I both have elderly parents here and we can’t leave at this time as much as we’d like to.

          • Isabel Fisher

            MOVE not moth. Darn autocorrect!!!

        • Tip

          Lol

          • Vicky Fisher

Just wanted to point out that not everyone can up and move to a cheaper state. I live in a very expensive part of Florida and although I’m DYING to move, I have family obligations (aging parents and in-laws – 77 & 90 yo) that keep me tied here, much as I hate it. So we chug along, trying to make ends meet while it seemingly gets harder the older my husband and I get. 🙁

      • Milli

You’re ridiculous. I wish I had your problems. You’re complaining because you’re not poor enough to qualify for this? Really?

        • Nikki

          Exactly!!!

      • Davetta

Rachel I don’t know you but you chose to live where you are at right and you said the library has free internet other communities have lower rent.

    • msklg1981

Amen. These ppl need to get over it and be thankful they aren’t in other ppls shoes. So disgusting to hear grown ppl speak that way. Its not a hand out, its a hand UP.

  7. Poppy

Where did the Walmart gift card post go?

    • Sam

Yeah… i just saw it was deleted. What happened?

    • Ketsy

      Whoopie cushion! lol

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I rarely ever trash posts, but one of the gals who works for me posted this deal (as I was off the computer). Anyway, when I got back on and looked at the deal and the comments… well, I decided that it was best to delete since I am leaning towards thinking this was an error. I am guessing Walmart may send out $10 gift cards instead of $25 gift cards and I just didn’t want people to continue to place orders tonight… so I really felt removing was the best option. So sorry about this. 🙁

  8. jacqueline ising

I want to vent, but first I’m thankful this reader told colin about this program its very good for families , but I don’t care much for Comcast I pay 168$ per month for my tv & internet, I had 2 sons in college , where is my savings plan I’m on a very limited income myself all I get is my ssi. once I was a day late and was shut off. I haven’t watched my cable tv in months because instead of sending out a technician to install a new cable box for me they mailed me one and its been under my desk for 3 months now. I’m disabled, I recently emailed to ask for someone to come do it and got no reply. I cant use any other carrier cause this is a housing building and only allows Comcast cable.

    • Laura

First off – wow! You can afford $168 on SSI.
Get a neighbor, friend, to help you hook up your box.
We all have choices in life. If you don’t like what is going on – do something about it.

      • Susie

        STOP!
        Nobody knows another’s situation.
        Don’t be so mean!

        • Laura

What? I’m not being mean. If you need help, ask for it. Everyone has a neighbor, friend, family member etc that they can call for help.

          • Deb Patterson

Guess what Laura I have none of these. My parents in there 80s Dad has macular degeneration and can’t drive 100mls away Son’s a fireman ENT so works 2 places because you don’t get benefits on part time and I can’t believe what they pay someone to risk there life close to 14.00 hr. he’s 200mls away and no I can’t move either as I was in DC and had to move far so I couldn’t be found. And am also disabled and can’t afford to have someone move me but I live in a poverty area and everyone gets evicted in 3 mth.So I don’t know anyone But if you’re available I would love a ride to have a medical procedure done because we have no transportation here no taxies bus nothing+ believe it or not a lot of disabled people just give up and be become depressed and it’s very easy to be taken advantage of so we ask no one talk to no one so since it’s Easter time Christ said Judge ye not for who so ever judge’s shall be Judged by the same measure 7to10 fold I certainly don’t want to be in that line

    • amber

Jacqueline, Where do you live? Maybe someone on here can help you. Maybe we can also figure out some way to help you save some money on your cable. That seems like such a high price to pay!

    • Mindy

$168 is a lot money. I got basic cable (just local channels) + internet and pay only $63 included tax via Verizon. I still rent their cable box so I get more channels than just the basic local channels but in return I asked them for $10 credit for being loyal customer to offset the box rental fee $11/month. We rarely watch TV, maybe once a week or less.

    • R

Wow. We do not have Comcast though when we lived in an area with it (last year) it was only $20. for high speed internet. We used our own equipment though. We do qualify for the low income though but needed faster internet for work and connection with family. The only trouble we had was getting a hold of them with tech support they dropped calls a lot in the middle of the tech call, and we didn’t have a tech come out because that cost extra money with our plan but even under difficult circumstance you can become proactive and learn a lot… You eventually become tech savvy, and if you have a friend or neighbor that is I am sure they would love to help you out. Just ask them. 🙂 Comcast was a good value and beats Time Warner!

      • R

        Jacqueline,
I hope I didn’t sound terrible. 🙁 I really do empathize with you. I would suggest just asking someone or posting an ad a local kid might do it for cheap, or just asking someone. It’ll work out. I would also recommend re evaluating whatever plan you have because that price is ridiculous. Have a good day and look up. 🙂

        • Laura

That was my point. There’s always someone out there that could help. No reason to sit and do nothing – yet pay $168 which seems extremely high for basic. Ask your kids Jacqueline. They can find a way to help you I’m sure. Sometimes people on this site are so quick to snap.

    • Deb Patterson

Jacklyn you qualify your in his housing this is new and I’m so thankful.I fell for that DirecTV telemarketing trap that they could upgrade my speed and I’d get a new box wow you have to rent it and pay for services even though it said free services.they won’t honor there deal’s so I will do with out but at least I’ll have online learning so yes go online they’ll send you app copy lease showing your in subsidized housing.good luck GodBless

  9. Heather

I just wanted to chime in. ..My husband is a cable tech, and I hear a lot about this program but people do try to misuse it and don’t understand it’s capabilities. It is meant specifically for kids in school to have internet access for their homework. It is meant for ONE hardwired computer, not wireless. Wireless runs at about 60% of hardwired speed just to give you an idea. He goes out on trouble calls all the time for people who are upset because they can’t stream videos on it effectively, or they try to run three computers off if it and don’t understand that nothing is downloading. Just so you know.

    • Stefanie

My husband installs for Comcast also and I came to say the exact same thing! Well said! 🙂

      • Heather

lol, but now there’s an argument starting-which is why he told me not to post! He deals with people all day that argue with him when he tells them what they don’t want to hear/don’t understand.

    • Chris

Incorrect. Wireless does not cut speed down 60%. Wireless can’t reach gigabit like wired can, but this is a 10 megabit connection which will not be any slower over wireless.

Netflix recommends 5 mbit for an HD stream but it adapts the quality based on available bandwidth. There should be no issue unless a family is trying to stream multiple shows. There will also be no issue with 3 computers on a 10 mbit connection, most people aren’t doing anything bandwidth intensive, mostly facebook and other things. Those will not slow it to a crawl. Just having a computer connected will not slow it.

  10. Erika

Laura, you have no idea of anyone else’s situation. How do you know “everyone” has someone to call on when they need help? It is a blessing to have people around you when you are in need and it is something not everyone is so blessed to experience. Your statement was inconsiderate and uncalled for. We all need to be much more empathetic toward others.

    • Laura

In this day and age – it’s highly unlikely that this person has NO ONE she can call on. Perhaps try calling Comcast instead of emailing them. Erika, you are entitled to your opinion.

  11. meg

Glad the earlier comments were deleted…because I was about to go off before my phone spazzed out. Why do people have to be so mean and judgemental? Of course their are abusers but there are also people who genuinely need the help. Get off your high horses.

    • meg

There. Not their. It was going to bother me

    • anna

      Spell check please, meg.

      • meg

Haha anna. Beat you to the punch. Please don’t start the grammar police crap, too.

        • holly

          Lol.

        • Angie

Our 4th grader noticed your spelling error almost immediately haha

          • meg

Good!! I’m glad he noticed, it drives me bonkers when I read stuff like that. Especially if I am the culprit. I was in the waiting room with my son waiting on xrays and I was not paying attention.I probably botched the word worse than that and auto correct stepped in. Auto correct can be a blessing and a curse, haha! However, what also drives me mad is when someone is intentionally snarky with a reply. Perhaps I jumped the gun… but to me, when I end my statement with “get off your high horses” and someone immediately steps in as grammar nazi- that is being snarky. I just found it funny that I corrected it before her comment posted.

  12. Sarah

10 Mbps is like nothing..we’re subscribed on 105 Mbps blast and still complaining due to we only get 25-35 Mbps wireless and it is very slow. Called Comcast and they told me I can only get 105mbps if I wired my computer.

    • Les

It’s perfectly reasonable. Most online videos at 360p are 100-200 Mb or less. At 10 Mbps, that means they download in as little as 20 seconds. Not bad at all.

I can only see speed being a problem if one pirates a lot of stuff. Which isn’t good anyway.

      • heather

You’re only getting 10Mbps if you’re hardwired, which a lot of people don’t do anymore. You would be surprised what people expect to run off of this program, as in a houseful of computers and wireless. Then they call in to complain when there’s a problem and blame Comcast for it.

    • Heather

We had that problem. They said our box was only running on 2.4 Ghz and those channels get overloaded. They gave us a new box that runs both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz….the 5.0 runs amazing! In fact I consistently clock 110-115 on the 105 plan. Only downside is that not many devices are able to connect to the 5.0 network

  13. Alycia

Being a young person myself (in collage) and have two kids in middle school who have to use the computer at least 3 times a week for homework I appreciate this type of program. I unfortunately don’t live in a area where something like this is offered. I can’t believe some of the people who are so rude and unbelievably judgemental. I just pray that you never have to ask for help cause there just might not be anybody there to help you.

    • alycia

*college- was typing to fast lol

    • Emily

I agree! Also just a heads up that the program ” connect to compete” qualifies you for the same thing through cox. That’s what I have.

  14. Lauren

It asks for your social security number, bummer!

    • Laura

That’s how they can tell how much you make- they have to or many would abuse

  15. amber

This is available for those who homeschool as well. You just have to send them proof that you homeschool along with verification that your child is ELIGIBLE for school lunch. And whatever the talk is about not being able to watch videos isn’t true for us. Our internet works great for videos. It IS wired though and the modem they gave us does not have wireless capabilities. We also get our ooma phone through the $9.95 internet. The ooma device was less than $100 and it is free each month plus taxes, which in our area run about $3 a month. So, we pay about $13 a month for internet and unlimited, long distance phone service. What a blessing!

    • Heather

Never said you couldn’t watch videos, Just that the download speed is not as fast. My husband literally rolls his eyes when he deals with customers that expect 60 Mbps speed with this program – that there’s buffering on movies so they call in to Comcast about it.

  16. Kelsey

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you know even if you don’t think you’re ‘low income’, your kid can actually receive funded lunch if you make 135% higher than the poverty line. So that’s like, $45k/family of four. So if you’re thinking, ‘oh I don’t qualify for food stamps’etc, you might still qualify for this!

    • Annali

      Yay thanks Kelsey!!

  17. Kim

Being a recently divorced mother of school aged children, i found about about this a while ago. And it has worked wonderfully for my kids to be able to do their homework. And i just have to say that not everyone is trying to take advantage of programs like this. There are plenty of people out there like me who have worked their whole lives and never asked for a single hand out. In fact, given to all kinds of charities. And all the sudden find ourselves in a situation we have to get out of. And at that point, we cry as we apply for SNAP benefits to feed our children. So please remember that there are people out there who use these programs exactly as they are intended. For their children who are in a situation they didnt ask for. And to get them back on their feet again. Rant over.
Thank you Collin for everything you do to help single moms like me make life better for our kids!

  18. savingstacy

This is not available in all areas. My son brought home a paper on this from school so we called about it and were told it’s not available where we live.

  19. 4Ella

This is maybe of the topic but I see that here are couple of technicians so maybe someone can help 🙂 I got a new tv and it supposed 1080p but I only get 480i, I was googling but the only thing I found out that maybe I need to use new cable box with hdmi output. I have verizon fios. If anyone know what is the problem please let me know. Thank you 🙂

    • Margarito

I work for Comcast and used to work for the video tech support. You have to change the settings on the cable box to show 1080p resolution. What is the model of the cable box? I could walk you through.. also, it’s important that you only have the box connected to the TV with and HDMI cable and not have a coax cable connected also.

      • 4Ella

I used to have Comcast and know there is a button on the back to switch but Verizon does not have it. It is only coax cable connected and has no HDMI output 🙁 It is just basic small box. I just got new big tv after Christmas sale and the picture is so bad, my small tv had thousand times better picture. I tried to call Verizon to see if they have different box but was on hold for hour and still no one picked up, so I gave up. Thanks anyway.

        • Heather

You need a box with him in output 🙂 you’ll be amazed!

  20. michele

Fyi..once you are qualified for internet essentials..your cable will be at full price.. if you want cable/tv..you will have a slower internet speed and the price they’ll charge you for cable is mind boggling..sense you have internet essentials they will tell you theyre is no bundle prices..and im sure some of you will say “if you need internet essentials you shouldnt afford cable anyways” we could all aford cable if it wasnt a MANOPOLY

    • Margarito

Incorrect.. As a Comcast employee, if you have cable and have a promotion, Comcast will not raise your cable pkg to full price if you qualify for the Internet essentials. Once the promotion ends then yes.

Great program for those that need it, but my BIG complaint is why are they getting unlimited internet, but I, a full paying customer ($70 a month for internet only and I even have my own modem so I don’t have to pay rent for theirs) am only alotted 300GB a month?? 🙁 If I go over that amount I’m charged more! I know it’s because Comcast is getting back at all the cord cutters making it harder and more expensive for them to watch TV without subscribing to their overpriced service. I hate Comcast but it’s my only option even though I live in a HUGE city.

Comcast get’s the full price plus. The Govt. pays the difference between what the customer pays and what the full charge is, the govt get’s paid back in the form of taxpayer dollars. Probably a good program but unfortunately it’s badly abused.

Frank I would like to know where you got your information from. Comcast does not get reimbursed from the government. Comcast offered this deal for low income people so that FCC would allow them to purchase NBCUniversal in 2011. When it was first offered upload speed was 1.5 Mbps do the increase to 10Mbps is good. You can read about the program Consumer Reports August 2011.

Isabel who do you have? I do not know if charter is offered in your area but I pay about what you do for 60mbps. It is however unlimited. Might be worth checking in to!!

      • Isabel

Meg, my only options are Comcast and AT&T DSL which is only 1.5MBPS. Can you believe that?? U-Verse is available in some areas but not mine. So I’m stuck with Comcast. My internet service is 25 MBPS so less than half of what Charter offers you. My service with Comcast has been fine, but this new usage cap is very unfair, especially when it’s just to force you to get TV service. And not everyone is capped? That’s just a slap in the face to the people who pay full price for the service. I don’t understand how such an important service is allowed to be a monopoly practically. There should always be competition.

I’m a single mother of 6 and I would look into a program like this if I didn’t already have internet. My work pays for my internet because I bring work home cand NEED the internet to get it done.

  23. Pat

Wow! Does anyone know if there are programs like this for the elderly- our most fabulous senior citizens. My mom and dad are in their 80s and I want them to enjoy the positive aspects of Internet. Thanks!

  24. Heather

My parents do not have Internet. My dad is on disability. I have struggled to find internet available where they live. They use dish for tv which is also expensive for them. Any suggestions?

  25. mama

Comcast has a pilot program for senior citizens but only in certain states. It’s similar to the internet essentials. Also they have a pilot program for college students who attend a community college but only in certain states so far. You could google it to find more info about it.

I’ve been wondering what else is there besides Comcast and Verizon for internet. I’ve read about At&t U-verse, Google Fiber, Freedom Pop and satellite internet but haven’t found the price to be low enough. What other companies offer internet or what other options are there?

  27. Laura S. Meeks

I am a low income senior, who needs a laptop and low cost internet, anything available for us.

You be saying that if you found yourself without a job suddenly. Bills start not getting paid. So let’s see them how grateful for those handouts you become.

an antenna on back of t.v is free antenna t.v over 40 channels esp. 4 us seniors

  31. vartan-k

I want to throw my 2 cents in here. I agree with the couple of people who said it isn’t fair. The issue is that when you are working your but off to pay your bills and you make JUST above that line, you don’t get any of the social programs. (who defines the line..who is to say one amount is fair and another amount is not) I think thats where the frustration is coming from on the other side (This note is not meant TO take away from the hardships of the people below that line, rather to just give color to the other side oft he argument…

What a rude comment! Some of us live in areas of the country that are very expensive. Some of us also live in those areas because we HAVE to, like let’s say because of aging parents!! No need for insults, especially when you don’t know what someone’s situation may be! Wow!

I was really excited when I heard about this deal…i have 2 children in school. I make decent money but am a single mother who is paying my own way through community college. I can’t really afford Wi-Fi but according to this can’t qualify for the help. That sucks

  35. Barbara Stapf

Pcsforpeople can cost as low as $10/month if paid by the year. You also have to pay for a Hotspot device. For anyone nationwide who is low income.

I receive SSA, do I qualify for low price on WiFi???

  37. Paul

Same here, I’m on SSDI and live here in San Francisco. Do I qualify for low price Wifi???
And if so, then I’m stuck not knowing what to choose out of the 3 options. If I choose “none of the 3 options”. Then I’m taken to the following page where it tells me I do not qualify???
So I’m a single disabled person living on SSDI benefits, am NOT in food stamps program, NOT a veteran and am not in a housing program. Only thing I’m enrolled here in San Francisco is
1). housing program called The Plus Housing Program that is through the mayors office which helps low- income people living with HIV. And
2). subsidy for my housing which Catholic Charities helps pay toward my monthly rent.
So clearly, I am a person on low-income.
Again, do I qualify for the program which comcast offers for low income individuals, can someone help with my enrollment please???
    Thanks and God bless.

Hey Daniel! Be sure to click the link in the post to head to the application for more details. I also spotted a link at the bottom to “Chat with Xfinity Assistant” if you have further questions about eligibility. Hope this helps! 💕
