Any comments for the Dyson dc50? I’m expecting and need a vacuum that isn’t heavy and easy to move.

I do not recommend this vacuum cleaner. I have the exact same one and have had it since summer 2014. I got a really good deal on it (paid I think like $219) but if inhabit to do over again I wouldn’t pay that much for it. It gets clogged and has to be taken apart literally every time I use it. We do have one dog but she’s tiny and hypoallergenic so we don’t get that much hair in the house. I have 5 kids so I vacuum 2-3 times a week to pick up crumbs and such. At least one of those ones each week my husband has to completely dis-assemble the entire thing to remove small clogs. Seems any little amount of dust causes it to clog. And when I say clog I mean it will not sick anything up anymore until taken apart. Even the times that my husband doesn’t have to dis-assemble it, I have to take little things apart here and there. Totally not worth the trouble for convenience of the rolling ball. I do love the way it moves around but what good is that if the suction sucks… Or doesn’t suck (pun intended haha) This is a good price but do beware it still may not work well. Their customer service will only ever explain to us how to unclog it so they aren’t any help as far as accepting feedback about the clogs to begin with.

Oh but it is light and easy to move. Lol

My Dyson clogs all the time too! I’m so sick of it, I am searching for a new vac and I will never by Dyson again. Such a pain and I hate cleaning the filters and emptying the bag-less container. I’m going to seek out something American made, tried and true, without all the hype.

I have this vacuum I like it. It’s pretty light and easy to move unless you’re bringing it up and down stairs then it’s a bit of a pain but every vacuum I’ve had was hard to lug up the stairs. I don’t have any clog problems but haven’t had it that long so I guess I will see. I had the Hoover wind tunnel and it had the clog problem. I got tired of having to take the whole thing apart every time so I got this one.

Thanks so much for your helpful review Shannon!

I own the dyson animal and love it. Best vacuum I ever owned! It’s not light weight tho. I also own a shark and it’s a good vacuum for the money, also lighter weight.

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing!

I wouldn’t recommend this vacuum. We have this exact model and bought it about 3 years ago. Now don’t get me wrong, it’s not a horrible vacuum, however it’s not great. It doesn’t pick up everything off my floor, when my carpet is smashed down, it doesn’t “fluff” it back up. It is lightweight and easy to disassemble. I just believe you could get a better vacuum for the price.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your honest feedback Desiree.

I do not recommend this vacuum either. It’s heavy and bulky and turns weird. I thought I was going to love the one with the ball but I was wrong. I recommend their other vacuums much easier to move and clean with. I’m sticking to my old one.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn. Sorry to hear that Jane. Thanks for your review.

How does this one compare to the one on Amazon for $289.99? I just ordered it yesterday but I have time to cancel if this one is a better option.

Buy a shark! Had a Dyson for almost 6 years and it just died on me and didn’t suction that well. Bought a shark a few weeks ago because of the great price and feedback on here and couldn’t be happier. Love it!

    • Biscotti

Which one did you buy? Thank you.

      • Lindsey

Bought the Rotator nv450 shark and love it so far!

    • Michelle

I agree, love my shark. I have the navigator and after about 6 years mine is going to need to be replaced because the power switch is going bad. I will either buy another navigator or the rotator, just depends on which I find on a good deal first 🙂
