Aldi

If you have an Aldi grocery store nearby and like to purchase organic foods, you may be happy to hear that they are making plans to expand their organic-food brands, remove some artificial ingredients from their products, and add more gluten-free items! PLUS, Aldi is expanding their selection of fresh and organic meat and produce, including the “Never Any!” brand of meats that contain no added antibiotics, hormones, animal by-products or other additives. Awesome! Head on over here for more details.

Aldis gluten free brownie mix is my favorite.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yum! Thanks for the suggestion Jeanette!

    • Jess

i didn’t even know they had that! I will have to try it. My daughter was just diagnosed with Celiacs so we are trying to find the good stuff.

      • JODI

Aldi’s has A LOT of gluten free items. While they do cost a little bit more than regular items, it’s not the sticker shock you get in a regular grocery store.

      • Crysta

I Wish you the best! I’ve been gf almost 4 years now. When I found out I had to go gf, I cried so hard thinking about all my family recipes I’d miss out on. I’ve changed them to gf and don’t feel like I’m missing out. It is amazing the products on the market. I have found my favorite brands/products now and am finding more and more all the time as new products come out on the market. It’s going to be tough, but once she finds the products she likes the most it will get easier.

      • Samantha

One of my girlfriends has Celiac, she also runs a Blog (Gluten Free Hungry Gal), and she absolutely LOVES the live gfree line at Aldi! On her blog she reviews all sorts of GF items. Best of luck!

  2. mommyx4

I live in so Cal and we are getting so many Aldi stores built near us and one down the street seems like a good store and seems like I’ll be shopping their more than anywhere else can’t wait for it to open near me

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh awesome!

    • Jamie

Same here! I am also in So Cal. Looking forward to having an Aldis near us! We have one coming right into the heart of our town. πŸ™‚

    • Kay

I am in so Cal too. My son has been patiently waiting for ours in Moreno Valley to open. Lol Hopefully any day! But I have seen several in different towns around here opening up. I enjoy new places to try out. Maybe we will run into a few of you Hip2Savers!!

      • Dee

So awesome I’m in Moreno Valley (Rancho Belago area) too can’t wait for them to open….so cool to see someone from my city also follow this amazing page

        • riss

I wish they open one here in Murrieta since the Fresh & Easy and Ralph’s near me closed late last year.

      • mommyx4

Seems like a few of us hip2savers will be shopping in the moval aldi lol

    • Patty

Yes, Aldi is expanding in California. I believe in March they will have all stores open in California.

  3. Sarah

Love Aldi and so glad to hear this!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay!

  4. meg

LOVE Aldis!!!!! My store already has alot of organic fruits and vegetables. Excited about the meat!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Sweet! Thanks for sharing Meg!

  5. yolanda

Awesome! I save lots of money in Aldi!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Glad to hear it!

  6. Adrienne

I love Aldi! They have the best dairy products! I love their cheese and yogurt! And everything is always fresh. Love it!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Wonderful! Thanks for your feedback Adrienne!

  7. Candi

So happy to hear this. I have an Aldi near my house. No more 30-40 min drive to whole foods and trader joes. I like to buy organic but there was not that much selection at aldi.

    • Mom of 5 boys

      Aldi owns Trader Joes!!

  8. Dee

I love Aldi!!! They are the best! It’s the only place where if i don’t have time to coupon i still save A LOT. Breakfast cereals are the best!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Cool!

  9. Just Me

My Aldis is pretty small in Ohio so I’ll have to see it to believe it. Also mine always only has 1 cashier and everyone has 50 items! Lol uggg

    • Happymama

I’m in Ohio too and yes the store is small but you save so much money and time! Time is money sometimes. I love that Aldi carries only one or two brands of a certain food so you can run in and out without stressing about couponing! I’m loving all the natural/organic products especially the foods without food dyes. They are actually affordable too! You should try Aldi again mid month on a Tuesday afternoon lol.

      • Just Me

That’s the problem I usually have 5 items and everyone else has 50 hahahaha. 11am is not the time to go in Mansfield

  10. denise

I Love Aldi its the one store I don’t have to cut coupons. Prices are low enough!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      That’s great Denise!

  11. Dany

For the new Aldi people, make sure you have a quarter ready for the shopping cart in the parking lot, bring your own bags and cash. Mine accepts debit but no credit cards. Prices are great and well worth the little inconveniences noted above.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for sharing your tips! Good to know!

    • Shirley

      Aldi takes Discover CC.

      • Melissa

Is this true?! Since when?! Yippee!

  12. Michelle A

I LOVE Aldi! I recently moved and the Aldi in my new town is brand new and much larger with almost all the organics I could ever need. The prices are also still really low even though I moved to a higher cost area. I love that I can keep my family eating healthy without compromising my budget or quality!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks so much for your review Michelle!

  13. Missy

So happy to hear this! Not a frequent Aldi shopper but if they stock more organic items it will become my go to store for sure! Whole Foods and Earth Fare are on the other side of town from me.

  14. ohiogirl

This is great news. I do most of our shopping at Aldi. It is convenient and saves us tons of $.

  15. Amy

I love Aldi’s! Most of our groceries are from there, and the quality has always been really great! They just recently removed all artificial colorings from their foods – I love their progressive approach to being health wise! My daughter has multiple food allergies and many of their items are safe & tasty for her too!! Love it!!

  16. katie

We LOVE Aldis and now with them getting more organic produce in it will be even better! We love their hummus. It is one of our favorites.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Thanks for sharing Katie!

  17. Poppy

Love Aldi.. I also support their means to keep prices low.. No credit card .. No carts .. But that’s ok .. I don’t have to go crazy over coupons and yet save money !!

  18. Katie

Great to hear! My store has already introduced organic milk and the price beats both target and walmart generics.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Yay!

  19. CJ

That’s great! I’m an Aldi fan too. I love the prices but I also like that it’s not a gigantic store where I’m trekking 3 miles to gather my groceries.

  20. peepslob

No way!!!! I am very excited!!!

  21. Kelly

Aldis has the best produce price! I get most of our fruits and veggies there. Mine also takes credit cards which is a huge plus for me!

  22. Katie

I can’t eat gluten. This store is a lifesaver. Practically everybody is gf!

  23. ashley

Another big fan of Aldi here. Most of their products that I buy are as good as or better than national brands, and IMO much better than other store brands. I like that I can still save a ton without coupons since most of their regular prices beat competitors sale prices by quite a bit, and their produce prices are awesome.

  24. 4Ella

Used to shop Aldi back in days when lived in Germany πŸ™‚ The closest one from here is 100 miles away but every time I am in the area I stop by and get some German chocolate. Couple months ago they started opening new stores around my town….so happy

    • Renee

I love their chocolate!!! I stopped today and they were out of blackberries but I did get a dark choc bar!

      • JODI

I pick up a big chocolate bar first thing when I walk in the door, every time, LOL

  25. Meghan

I love Aldis! Especially Iike shopping in a smaller store!

  26. Laura

    Our family loves Aldi!

  27. Hilary

Does anyone know if they sell organic milk? They are building an Aldi’s right by my house!

    • Jaci

      Yes in 1/2 gallons

    • Nana Donna 2 5

They do! We always get organic skim milk at Aldi. Cheaper than regular grocery stores and even Costco. Today however it was out of stock. We have snow in the forecast…not sure if that had something to do with that. Had their take-home-bake cheese pizza that was is on sale and it’s HUGE! It was very tasty and will get again as well as their Mexican (taco) pizza. Love getting canned goods there. Daughter will get yogurt there. Best price and tastes great.

  28. Jaci

My aldis has alot of organic products and they keep adding more. My favorite so far has been organic ketchup they hands down beat everyone on prices. I guess im spoiled i have one in my backyard i live there never any line also.

  29. Patty

Yes they carry organic milk. Here in Florida $2.95 for a 1/2 gallon

  30. Patty

I absolutely love Aldi’s. Healthy eating at a great price.

  31. shannon

Aldi was the only place I could find inexpensive lactose free cheese for my toddler! Practically all of their block cheese and shredded is lactose free!!!

    • KatieS

Oh this is so exciting! My son is dairy free so I will be looking into these!

    • Karen

I didn’t realize that most of their cheese is lactose free. Good to know!

  32. eve

Mine has organic 2% and fat free milk. There are a few things that are better deals at costco like vanilla and olive oil, but otherwise, it is my main grocery store. Look for the Special Buys too. I buy all my snack nuts there and they recently had organic whole wheat flour as a special buy!! Mine only takes cash or debit.

  33. Shannon

I looove aldi! They just opened one near me and I’m so happy!

  34. spedtch95

They are building 20 In South FL alone and my parents are getting one in their rural town in central FL. We are lucky, we have their regional warehouse 2 miles away, any overstock comes to our store at Rock bottom prices plus we get the freshest of fresh as it only travels a few hundred feet from warehouse to store! LOVE Aldi!

  35. rano

My Aldi has a good selection of organic fruit and some gluten free products as well. Their satisfaction guarantee is great – if you don’t like something you can get double your money back or a replacement and your money back. Prices are great and they open registers when more than a few people are in line. Aldi is the best way to save without cutting coupons.

I love Aldi. Amazing prices, and great products. I do 90% of my grocery shopping there, and the other 10% at my local grocery store with coupons.

  37. mama

We love Aldi but it is important to read the ingredients on their house-brand items. For example, their salsa has added sugar in it (salsa doesn’t need sugar!), their kidney bean have corn syrup in them, chicken nuggets/fingers have soy flour in them, their store brand ketchup and jelly has HFCS in it, etc.. I’ve let Aldi know that although they are moving in the right direction, there are added ingredients that they just don’t need in their products. We still shop at Aldi but certain things we don’t buy there because of what I’ve mentioned above.

    • Joy

Yes, I agree. Read the labels and check the country of origins. Sometimes Aldi’s sells its tuff cheaper because they use cheap ingredients/raw materials from foreign countries. No reason why apple juice needs to come from China or Argentina, organic or not.

    • Joy

Yes, I agree. Read the labels and check the country of origins. Sometimes Aldi’s sells its tuff cheaper because they use cheap ingredients/raw materials from foreign countries. No reason why apple juice needs to come from China or Argentina, organic or not. Also, sometimes you fall in love with a product and they discontinue carrying it or its seasonal. That’s a little frustrating.

    • Jaime

      What does HFCS stand for?

      • Just Me

        High fructose corn syrup

  38. Adriaddiemom

It’s funny because Aldi was always the place thrifty people shopped by us and now it’s becoming trendy! I love it. We’ve been shopping at Aldi since j was a kid!

  39. rebecca

I have been saving money and buying organic products at Aldi’s for a while too. We really like their organic spaghetti sauce and their organic frozen yogurt bars but just be sure to watch their ingredients and country of origin. I noticed the frozen organic strawberries were from China and I will not buy any food from China. Even if it has organic seal I don’t trust it. Air pollution in China is the worst and their soil is so contaminated with heavy metals that get into the food that grows there but organic certification does not test for their presence.

    • mary

I agree – the last time I bought kids lunch items I purchased peaches in gelatin – not only til I was home did I see made in China. You have to read every label – guess I let that one slip me by – but – we love our aldi’s – there’s a difference between our local stores – entirely how the manager runs his/her store – one store clearances items often and has a well stocked store – the other, well its hit or miss – annoying when they run out of items – but that’s life – we still really enjoy the everyday savings.

      • JA

I was shocked to see some years ago, that Dole peaches in the multiserve jar came from China. I emailed them but they never responded. Haven’t bought them since. Does anyone know if that is still correct?

        • rebecca

I don’t know about the peaches but I stopped buying the cans of dole mandarin oranges because they are from China too.

Aldi’s is the parent chain to Trader Joe’s owned by the Albrecht family known in news articles for their secrecy regarding their product supply chain, ingredients etc.
While I am a frequent TJ’s shopper here in CA( because of their prices), some of you may be interested to know that Aldi’s is not beloved for the treatment of their staff back in Germany. My sister, (who lives in Germany) goes to Edeka and Marktkauf because of the ‘walmart’ type treatment of employees-

    https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Employee-Review-ALDI-RVW1819131.htm

Not meant to put you off but just in case this stuff is important to some so as to make an informed choice.

    • Freckle53

I’ve worked at Aldi here for almost 10 years (in April). I work part time, usually just one day a week, at my request. They’ve been an awesome company to work for. They give benefits to anyone working 20+ hours a week here and each store only has about a dozen employees. They don’t play games trying to keep hours low to not pay benefits.

    • Just Me

There was also the horse meat instead of beef scandal a few years back but I believe that mainly affected European Aldis.

      • Freckle53

Yes, that had nothing to do with the US stores. And it wasn’t just Aldi stores in Europe, but others there who used the same supplier. https://www.snoops.com/food/tainted/aldi.asp

Right now the bagged lettuces were all pulled due to the Dole/listeria thing because most of their bagged salads, at least on my area, are actually Dole brand salads, just in a different bag.

  41. Dee

I am a devout weekly Aldi shopper…also so excited for all the new changes coming down the pike that have been listed here but I just want to caution everyone on something that may be an issue…there are numerous items that are sold in the store that are marked “Product of Canada”…it is my understanding that countries that have questionable health/sanitation standards have exported to Canada and then those items are repackaged and then sold in that manner. Just a cautionary note – buyer beware!

  42. mochi

I was able to buy a bag of Mission USDA organic certified avocados for $2.99 vs Trader Joe Organic (non certified) avocados for $4.99. Also certified organic cherry tomatoes for $1.99, and baby carrots for .99!!!

    • j

I thought it was pointless, for the most part, to buy organic avocados and bananas, and anything else that you peel and eat the inside of only? I was told to focus organic purchases for items you eat whole like grapes, peaches, etc.

  43. Vicki

    I LOVE Aldi!

  44. Dion

We πŸ’œ Aldi. I can feed my family of 8 for under $150 a week by shopping there. And one of my daughters is gluten free. They do not accept coupons..but they are on the Find&Save app. I get a couple dollars back from them every week. My referral code is C9BZ if anyone would be kind enough to use it. https://fns.co/ZYcc/2Tk39cpH8p

    • Iza

I used your referral code Dion πŸ˜‰ I heard positive feedback about this app and I wanted to try it. I’m excited about it since Aldi is our #1 grocery shop.

    • Aubrey

I used your link as well 😊😊

  45. Rebe

Oh wow, I am so excited to read all these great comments about Aldi! I have 3 nearby and I have never set foot there because I dont carry cash and also because I dont recognize most of the brands they sell there so I kind of assume I couldnt trust their ingredients and quality!

    • Stacey

Check with your local store…. Many now allow you to use credit cards. Mine does!

    • tipaye

You can use a debit card.

  46. Sara

    Love Aldi’s!

  47. Lesley

Aldi is AMAZING! I’ve been able to start feeding my family so many organics at prices that are comparable to conventional food. Aldi just keeps getting better and better!!

  48. Dianne

I love the new Aldi near me. All of their products have been simply amazing;. I cannot get over the excellent quality of their products and the extremely low cost. Their products are are exceptional!! They back their products with a double guarantee, replace plus a refund if you are not satisfied. Never had a problem with a product!

  49. Marie

No aldi or trader Joe here in central Arkansas sooooo saaaad! Grew up with both in Indiana!

  50. Stacy

Aldi is the best! !!!!!! Iβ™‘Aldi they have some amazing gourmet foods there also
