   Can someone tell me how these magazines afford to give away their subscriptions for free !?

  They don’t make money on subscriptions – they make money on the advertising. And they are allowed to give a certain % of subscriptions away for free and still count them towards their circulation numbers. Plus, if they like the magazine, a lot of people end up buying a subscription for a magazine after they get the free trial. 🙂

  Because most over pay for their subscription or single checkout copy. They are hoping we’ll get hooked and do the same I imagine

   I’m asked to provide my credit card info even though my total reflects $0.00. Unfortunately, that’s a deal breaker for me.

  No credit card info is needed. Be sure to click outside of the box, or on the small x, when you get to the end where it seems you have to place a credit card order. Then you will see your confirmation of your Free Subscription. Hope that helps!

   It wouldn’t let me get passed not getting other magazines for $2 each and without a credit card.

  At that point you can click outside of the box, or on the small x in the corner and then you will see your confirmation. Hope that helps!
