Kohl's Instant Pot

Do you have a small appliance sitting on your kitchen counter that you can’t live without? Nowadays there are SO many small appliances on the market that it’s hard to know what’s truly worth buying OR what will eventually end up sitting on your counter, creating clutter, or collecting dust.

Here are 5 small appliances that every kitchen needs…

1. KitchenAid Professional Mixer

Kitchenaid mixer

The KitchenAid Professional Mixer gives us an extra hand in the kitchen and allows us to mix, knead, and whip ingredients with ease! It is great for stirring wet and dry ingredients together, kneading dough, or even for whipping heavy cream. With ten different speed settings, we can mix dough for nine dozen cookies, four loaves of bread, or seven pounds of mashed potatoes in a single batch! It’s a must-have in our kitchens!

2. Air Fryer

Air Fryer

We love our Air Fryers! One of the best things about an air fryer is that we can “fry” foods with very little oil to get that delicious crispy fried texture on food as we’d get in a conventional oven – only with much faster cook times! That’s because air fryers cook by circulating hot air! Plus, there’s no waiting for the fryer to pre-heat or the machine to come to pressure as we would with a pressure cooker.

From frying awesome bacon to cooking fresh veggies quickly, read our 10 reasons to fall in love with air fryers!

3. Instant Pot

Instant Pot

If you’ve crossed over into Instant Pot heaven like we have, you already know what a lifesaver this pressure cooker is on busy nights. Not only does an Instant Pot speed up cooking by 2-6 times, but it uses up to 70% less energy and produces nutritious healthy food in a convenient and consistent fashion.

There are many Instant Pot varieties, sizes, and models, but all of them have multiple settings that can act as a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, and more. Plus, there are lots of Instant Pot hacks that will make your life a lot easier – not to mention tons of yummy recipe ideas!

4. Vitamix Explorian Blender

While a Vitamix Explorian Blender is on the pricier side of small appliances, it’s an awesome investment since we enjoy making smoothies, eating soups, drinking fruit juices, or indulging in frozen treats.

This awesome blender has a whopping 10 speeds (including a pulse feature) and is perfect for grinding nuts and coffee beans, pureeing hot soups, mixing batters and dough, and even creating chilled desserts in seconds! Yes, please!

5. Ninja Coffee Bar

Ninja Coffee Bar Single-Serve System in the store

If you’re one of those people that “drinks the coffee, then does all the things,” you’ll love the Ninja Coffee Bar. This brewer has Thermal Flavor Extraction, which unlocks the full flavor potential of our coffee using automated controls for temperature calibration, pre-infusion, and coffee saturation.

It brews concentrated coffee that can be used to make espresso-style drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, macchiatos, and more – all without having to use any other machine! The Ninja Coffee Bar can also pause at any point while brewing, which is great for those times when we really need a cup of coffee but don’t have the time or patience to wait for a whole carafe to brew. This coffee-making gadget is a must-have in our kitchens!

I have a mini food processor / chopper, which takes up little space but comes in handy for chopping up veggies, nuts, chocolate, oatmeal, coconut, etc. But I could get by without small appliances, if needed…we haven’t had a microwave in years.

    • Marcie

I keep a mini food processor on my counter too.

    • Cindi

Sarah, why do you not have a microwave?

  2. Maite

I can’t live without my Nespresso Pixie, espresso just doesn’t taste the same on other machines! 😜

  3. Susan

Coffee Grinder (for coffee and so much more!), and and Oscar (small food processor.) Oh, and a waffle iron, but that can be put away. 🙂

  4. kathie hernandez

The Air fryer has become one of my favorite appliances. Makes great steaks, burgers as well as french fries, mozzarella sticks and other fried foods with no added oil. I have even made a berry crumble . Cooks quickly and evenly and Clean up is a breeze

How is this different than a toaster oven or regular oven….I’m want to try one but don’t know if it is worth it if I can use my oven instead

1&2 tie) My electric PRESSURE COOKER by midea…parent company of instant pot..number one cooker overseas! I use that almost daily (rice in 7 minutes?! Yes!) and
    My KEURIG

    3) my cuisinart toaster oven for bagels, toast, Pastries, baking for just my little Allergen baby, reheating pizza, baked fries, roasted veggies, rolls…. times when you don’t need to cook for a ton of ppl, or just need to make a side dish for dinner but don’t want to heat up the whole house in summer.

    4) nutribullet. I.love my blended coffee coconut oil in it. Quick smoothies. Quick ice cream again for my Allergen baby. Use it to chop nuts, grind garlic, crush ice, etc.

    5) I also use my proctor silex tea kettle often. The plastic blue one. So cheap but heats so fast and is so versatile! I love to take it to hotels to use to cook small amounts of rice, lentils, pasta (for my baby) reheat soups, heat water instead of using the hotel coffee makers, etc. The wide bowl shape makes it so much more than a tea kettle. This one is light enough to put in a cabinet. But still makes up one of my top 5!
