We have had good luck with these. My husband prefers the penguin so you can send the mist exactly where you want it. I like the duck which we use most nights for my youngest.

I got the hippo in September or October when these were on sale at target.com and it already broke in December. Just thought I would share my experience since it was a bit disappointing.

Laura, did u call Crane customer service? Our Crane humidifier just broke last week and they have a 1 year warranty so they are sending a free replacement.
We have the owl and it has worked great for us. I was worried after a friend told me her elephant leaked all over. We haven’t had a single problem though. I am in the market for another for my daughters new room, so this is great!! Thanks!

I noticed reviews vary per animal, and some (like the dog) tend to have more problems (the dog is known for leaving a puddle). Maybe check reviews for the specific animal you want before ordering, since each humidifier is different.

We had the elephant for years before it broke from my daughter knocking it down. But for more than four years we never had any problems.

I have the frog and elephant for about 3 years now no problems with either one. I wash them with vinegar and dry them out before storing them after winter. We only use them for a couple of months every night during winter with no problems.

We have the elephant and like the fact we can turn its trunk in the direction we want it to mist towards and auto turnoff when water is out. Tip: Not easy to fill because of its design, it does not sit flatly on surface during refill (my husband complains all the time-lol!). Also, when reassembling after refill the water is likely to leak (always keep a towel nearby or assemble in bathroom!?). We have ours running every night for baby, and have had to disinfect constantly due to smell. (We use distilled water only). It is cute, but for constant/long term use I’d recommend a differ unit.

Like these humidifiers. Some of you saying they broke you may contact Crane. We had a Thomas the Train one years ago and had an issue. They sent me a new humidifier.

I don’t recommend these. I got a frog one as a baby shower gift. It soaked our carpet. Returned it and ended up installing a whole house humidifier.
I’m always surprised by the mixed reviews I see on these. Maybe they are just hit or miss. We’ve had the elephant for nearly 8 years with no issue. We use it nightly for a few months each winter and I’ve only ever used tap water in it. You are supposed to empty them each day but I never have. I only empty & dry it if I’m not going to run it every day. (like it’s going to be a warmer week or we’re leaving for the weekend) I liked it so much I bought the drop shaped version for our room (which we have had a couple of years now & like it as well).
I decided to get the dragon for my older boys’ room. Tough decision between that & the gator. 🙂
Same here. We have had an owl probably 5-6 years with no problems on tap water- it’s been getting some serious use this year as it helps our 6 year old have fewer nosebleeds. I’m seriously considering another for little brother.
CJ I’ve had same experience as you (minus that Thomas Train issue I mentioned above) we’ve however had the Frog, Elephant, and Dragon for many years with no issues.
I’ve had the penguin for about 6 years and love it! I’ve had no problems.
We own both the elephant and the penguin and we have not had one problem! Love them! We actually need a new one!
